Mysteries of the Sith, which is easily as good as Jedi Knight for multiplayer (actually it's better than Jedi Knight for multiplayer, let the flames begin), was developed in less than one year using existing technology developed for Jedi Knight. So I...  [Read More]

Also, since id software updates the q3 engine through point releases, we may see a few additional point releases for JKO. Although it's possible that the final point release for Q3 will be available by the time JKO is published, and no additional JK...  [Read More]

I tend to disagree that game developers should not be expected to post some new free content for their games. Many other game companies have been very successful at providing new free content: Valve, id software, Epic, Pandemic, Human Head, Fox, Bliz...  [Read More]

The UN estimates that the AIDS/HIV positive rate in Botswana is currently about 39%. If unchecked, this could literally mean the extinction of that country in only a few decades. Mafia_Jabba's assessment about either kill AIDS or be killed by it may...  [Read More]

I liked the first Jurassic Park (film). Hook, also by Spielberg, on the other hand, was so bad, it made me cry. I liked the Jurassic Park novel as well. It's interesting that some of the best scenes in Jurassic Park 2 (the lost world) were actually...  [Read More]

If only Senator Lieberman would pay attention to these studies, rather than fretting about dim-witted game rating systems (which many people ignore anyway). Actually it would be pretty fun to play Q3 with Sen. Lieberman. I doubt he would 'get it.'...  [Read More]

Dang it I wish Obi-Wankenobi.net was still online. We had a discussion on the pros and cons of Elite Force. I like the game, it's quite fast paced, has good network model, and the graphics are top notch. Plus it has several gameplay types such as as...  [Read More]

True, DSL installation is usually a bureaucratic nightmare. I was lucky to have had only minor reschedulings when getting my DSL set up. As to the cable having better 'bang for the buck' than dsl, I'm not sure I agree. I am satisfied with the price/...  [Read More]

I've been a DSL user for the past 3 years, and it's been very reliable and fast (but not without cost). The main benefit, as has been said, is high upload and download speed that is not affected by additional users on your ISP (unlike cable). If you...  [Read More]

I agree that single player mods set in the Star Wars galaxy would be great fun. I suspect that one reason mp mods are more popular (from the developer standpoint) is that backstory development really isn't required. Nor is the array of scripted event...  [Read More]
The q3 engine does allow for 'hub' structures, allowing players to move back and forth between maps either via a hub map or directly. I do not know whether Jedi Outcast will indeed use this featue. If it fits the game design I don't see why Raven wo...  [Read More]

I wouldn't be surprised if someone developed a mod launcher similar to Patch Commander for Jedi Outcast. Launching a game with a mod is pretty easy in Q3. Just type quake3 +game gamename Or you can store the command to a shortcut. Very easy to do....  [Read More]
