It depends how you set it. If you use seta cg_dismember "1" (or "2") it should save in your jk2mpconfig.cfg. You could also include it on a line in your autoexec.cfg as that executes every time you startup the game....  [Read More]

Here's the official word from the Raven mp programmers on how the 2 dismemberment variables work: g_dismember must be set between 1 and 100 to be enabled on the server (100 is the most frequent, 1 is the least, 0 is off). The client must *also* have...  [Read More]

If your ip is being dynamically assigned you can still just check what it is--with winipcfg under win 9x, for example--and then host and provide that ip to your friends. They should be able to join by ip, if at all....  [Read More]

Not that this is a ded server question...but out of the kindness of my heart: Make sure you select "Internet" as your source and hit the "get new list" button. If you still don't get a list, you might be having a firewall/router...  [Read More]

The settting, g_jediVmerc makes it so that players have to choose between Jedi (Force/Saber) and Merc (No Force/Guns). Based on my conversations with Raven, it may need to be set in the command line. I haven't played with it yet, although they encour...  [Read More]

For most people I'd recommend adding the following line: seta g_autoMapCycle "0" ..if they use the custom rotation at the end. Although chances are your jk2mpconfig.cfg contains that setting already, the default is "1" (on) and...  [Read More]

Just set sv_pure "1". Once you do that, only skins installed on the server can be used by connected clients. Unfortunately, that won't stop people from asking if you can see their skin because although the server may have a specific skin in...  [Read More]

If you are trying to add them via the console, leave out the rcon command. If you're doing it via rcon, make sure you put /rcon so that the server knows it's a command. If you want a particular number of bots & players, you can use: set bot_minp...  [Read More]

Well, guess what. 1.03 broke the bot badly. The console status command now truncates player names. I can probably work around it, but it's going to take a LONG time to work with since I'll need to completely recode the player recognition system. Than...  [Read More]

I'll answer the parts I can. I don't use FreeBSD. 1) sv_maxrate 10000 is more than sufficient. sv_maxping is up to you. Some people want to keep out the modem users and people trying to connect from a great distance. If you have questions about othe...  [Read More]

I suppose that depends on the exact setup of the virtual server. If it's setup just as a web-hosting service, I'm not sure it will work. If it's a more complete package, it could work. Have you actually tried it and gotten an error? If so, let's see...  [Read More]

Although it's been mentioned elsewhere, I thought I'd just highlight this one change so that everyone was aware of it. There's a new console command in v1.03 called forcetoggle. If you just type the command without any variables, you get this: force...  [Read More]

I believe it checks the md5sum of the file to verify it is identical. As far as the assets2.pk3 issue, I don't believe that is the cause. I have clients try to connect without it and they attempt to download the file and then get disconnected because...  [Read More]

Most of the time, what is causing the problem is that the 1.03 client patch includes a new .pk3 file--assets2.pk3. You need to patch your client and upload a copy of that file into your server base dir. Without that extra file, you'll get a seg fault...  [Read More]
