Obi-Wan's not a prequel as such. It was originally described as being "in the style of Jedi Knight" but that's about it. It's X-Box only now, anyway, and they've changed direction since canning the PC version, as they realised it was going... [Read More]

Yes, there are plenty of good games which have both single and multi-player content. My point was that those titles which are generally considered to be the best (eg. Deus Ex, UT, Q III) are those which separated the SP and MP components. Saying tha... [Read More]

As those of you from Obi-WanKenobi.net well know, I view single-player and multi-player gaming as two very different entities, for a number of reasons: Different people have different reasons for wishing to indulge in the gaming experience. The gamin... [Read More]

I was equally disturbed by that little extract, Wilhuf. I'm just glad that it's confirmed that we have a multiplayer element in JK II. And there'd better be some damned bots too. Pretty please. ;)... [Read More]

Just a couple of things I thought I'd draw your attention to. :) Trenches.org has conducted an interview with Raven's John Scott, about SOF II. It's not directly relevant to JK II, but it... [Read More]

"Hello, O-WK.net-ers, we meet again..." Nice to see all you guys again. I think all the O-WK regulars seem to have made the move over here, although I haven't seen Vagabond around recently. We all seem to have found a new home, anyway. :D... [Read More]

I think a lightstaff would be a good addition to the game. The question is, would it operate in exactly the same way as the ordinary saber, or would a slightly different control interface be necessary?... [Read More]

I am not doing so good at the moment, as I have A-level exams all this week. As a matter of fact, I have one at 9:00am tomorrow morning, so I think I shall hit the sack now (it's gone 11:00pm here in jolly old Blighty). Ah well.... [Read More]

Quake III uses MP3-based music, so I think it's reasonable to hope that they will give us something similar. As long as it is in the vain of Star Wars and adds to the atmosphere, I'm not too fussed on the specifics. I think at least the majority of t... [Read More]

Dead right. If you want antialiasing, buy a GeForce 3, if you don't you'll be just as happy with your GeForce 2. NVidia have openly stated that GeForce 3 is targetted at people running games at 1024x768, 1280x1024 or above with antialiasing. Those ar... [Read More]

Agreed. The JK and JK II community shouldn't be made into some sort of exclusive club. Multi-player gaming is a social activity and should be open to everyone. Edit: didn't read right first time. :D [ June 04, 2001: Message edited by: ed_silvergun... [Read More]

I think map design is one area where newbies can be helped out immeasurably. Include (for the experts) a number of more complex maps, which require advanced techniques, such as: Good knowledge of the map Some knowledge of item respawn times Good situ... [Read More]

There's no problem with the actual engine being able to handle large areas. The only problem I can forsee is mid-level load times on lower-spec machines. My K6-2 450 machine with 128mb RAM needed a fair bit of thinking time during those mid-level loa... [Read More]

I've been wondering about what this 'stun baton' is too, Wilhuf. Bit of a mystery, that one. As to the secondary fire on the concussion rifle, yes, it was pretty powerful. I wasn't getting at the level of damage it did (which, in my opinion was quit... [Read More]

Quake II was released a couple of months after JK. I wasn't dismissing the concussion rifle as a rip-off, I was merely pointing to the railgun as a weapon which is truly satisfying to fire, whilst at the same time requiring skill and patience to mast... [Read More]
