Oh and now there is an UnrealWarfare Engine based game which will play like our hypothetical Star Wars : Bounty Hunter. Computer and Video Games reports that Virgin Interactive's Maelstrom (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/story.cfm?sid=2792) w...  [Read More]

Silent_Thunder I play MechWarrior 4 with mouse & keys only and it works great. You can do everything with the mouse and keys arrangement that you can do with the stick & keys. No need to get a new stick for MechWarrior 4! As far as finding...  [Read More]

Jedi_Killer I don't consider this a trivial question. As you've implied, having decent editing tools available clearly makes a big difference to the user editing community. While it's true that picking up a level editor such as Radiant or UnrealEd m...  [Read More]

I'm into level editing, and I don't think it's premature at all to ask this question. It wouldn't be worth my time to learn Radiant if Jedi Outcast won't ship with Radiant....  [Read More]

I'll go ahead and ask the Raven Development team and LEC point blank: Will Jedi Outcast ship with Radiant editing tools? If not, the second question is can end users create their own Jedi Outcast levels using their own tools? It will save us all a l...  [Read More]

The basic editing tool for Q3 games is Q3Radiant (http://www.fileplanet.com/index.asp?file=57875). QERadiant (http://www.qeradiant.com/) is another popular editor for Quake3. Elite Force uses EFRadiant (http://www.3ddownloads.com/?file_id=147268)....  [Read More]

Well, I'd try Ricebug's Creating a Basic Room Tutorial (http://quake3.qeradiant.com/q3afiles/creatroom.htm) first. It quickly gives you results: a gun and a box room to run around in. Since you're experienced, you'll know what kinds of questions to...  [Read More]

Yeah I'm hoping Raven/LEC will use traditional Star Wars orchestral music, say either as straight mp3 tracks or dynamic mp3s that play in reaction to game events(a la iMUSE X-Wing Alliance, Dark Forces 1). The music on JK was outstanding and absolu...  [Read More]

I'm all for a learning curve so that as you play the game more, you learn more tricks and nuances. A reward for sticking with the game. That's the fun stuff. I've been vocal about making the game 'newbie-friendly' because many of the people I've int...  [Read More]

Yeah for some reason Quake3 suffers from the corridor crawler syndrome. Seems like some folks have no faith in it for exteriors. Yet, Q3 tech can definitely handle large exteriors. Terrain (heightmap) rendering was always possible at the technology...  [Read More]

I used the secondary fire on occasion in CQB (close quarters battle). If the graphics had a bit more oomph, concussion secondary would have been more popular. It did do some reasonable damage to your opponent. BTW anyone know what a stun baton is an...  [Read More]

Broadband will play a significant role for those who wish to host Jedi Outcast servers. These will require quality upload speeds. Lag compensation, such as client-side collision detection, (for example, as found in Half-Life), can help reduce the di...  [Read More]

My vote is for "Jedi Arena," similar to Rocket Arena for Quake3 where players duel to the death. If they are killed, they go back in line to wait their turn and fight again. Both sabers only and guns modes. 1 v 1 and team v team. Also I'd...  [Read More]
