KOTOR will be coming out for the PC. If you've got a new rig, you should be in good shape to play it. It's being developed by BioWare, I believe....  [Read More]

There may still be RPG servers out there, but likely, if you try playing on most servers, you'll be quite disappointed with the gameplay. Generally speaking, FPS games don't translate well into RPGs and you'll only end up pissing people off if you tr...  [Read More]
Originally posted by Prime I probably use all three stances equally. It depends greatly on the situation and the opponant. They all have their advantages and disadvantages. In a duel, I find I rarely use the same stance that the other person is using...  [Read More]
True, it's possible, but with the nerfing of sabres in 1.04, and the increased auto-blocking, it became rather difficult and tedious to use some of the lighter stances like yellow and blue. You can do it, but it slows down gameplay. Now, that's not a...  [Read More]
Originally posted by Luc Solar The reason why red is the only viable option in FFA's is that it's the only stance that does any damage. With the amount of power-ups, you can whack your opponent with blue stance for hours without scoring a single fra...  [Read More]

See, that's why I think a block button itself wouldn't do it. It'd be better to leave autoblocking (although modify it so you can't do it forever and against every stance), and have a button that you can hit to PARRY. This would require you to approp...  [Read More]

Do you mean that you'd have, for example, a 75% chance of blocking, or that when being attacked by yellow stance, you'd block the first 4 and the 5th would get through?...  [Read More]

See, I think the existing blocking code needs some tweaking, though it may be the hit detection, and not the blocking itself. Al, assuming that we implemented a system where blocking was left the same, but activated by a button, how would you handl...  [Read More]

I voted for "new system" and have tried to work out a system that, I think, would both reward skill and allow new players the ability to learn to play effectively. Hopefully there would be a learning curve, without there being a real barrie...  [Read More]

Dual sabres. Something always appealed to me about fighting ni-to (Japanese version of dual "sabres"). It just seems like you'd be unstopable, although, for game balance, you'd need to make it so that this is either very hard to master as a...  [Read More]

Blue is THE classic sabre color. Green is cool too, but I've always preferred Luke's (Anakin's?) sabre from ANH/ESB, so to me, that's the ideal color....  [Read More]

Very true, Prime. He's great as a special ops character. Remember when you had to break Gen. Madine (who I think was, at that point, a Col.) out of that imperial prison facility in DF1? That was a blast! I do think he's cool for the initial jedi stag...  [Read More]

I won't really miss him. He's getting kinda stale as a character, and I think it's time for some new blood. He's been a cool character and all, but I think we're getting to a point where he's becoming less of a character and more of a charicature (no...  [Read More]

Don't get me wrong. I like having guns in the gameplay. I'd like to see a cool class based system where you could finally truly implement the mercs v. jedi style gamplay, where people have access to either guns or sabres and the gameplay is BALANCED...  [Read More]

Ok, after wading through all 6 pages of this thread, a few things occurred to me. I think you guys are going to be rather disappointed when JA is released. Look at the title: Jedi Academy. This one's gonna focus on force powers and sabre combat. The...  [Read More]

Ah, but aren't you forgetting that there was the special, limited edition, gold-plated IG-88.5 model? There was also the IG-88(SAU) unit released (that's Special Assassin Unit). Only 600 copies made! Those are real collectors items, you know. :)...  [Read More]

I really don't think a lock-on thing would be necessary at all. Mike said that the sabre combat would be left very similar to JK2, since Raven thinks they did a good job with that. It will be tweaked, but overall left the same. Now, as for manual bl...  [Read More]
I actually really enjoyed the SP game in JK2 (well, except for the ending -- rather anti-climactic there...). I thought that, overall, the levels were well designed, interesting to play in, and evocative of the Star Wars experience. The lightsabre co...  [Read More]
