Okay so this is technically a double post, but my last post is old, so... I've changed the brass so it doesn't sound so 'sluggish' (I'm now using 4 horns 3 trumpets and 3 bones), I've also cut down heavily on the reverb, please tell me if I've cut of...  [Read More]

right, I'd have to transpose it down an octave or two if I was going with horn. I think I'll try the solo part with violin section first - I could try with other instruments, personally though, I think it sounds like it was written specially for viol...  [Read More]

That choirsample is not from anything, it's just composed to show what is possible with choirsamples. heh, normally it's the entire violin section playing that part, I just tried to see how it sounds with a solo violin - Of course I'll remove it if...  [Read More]

Don't worry, I'll use 4 most of the way, but I'm considering using the 8 when themes like 'rebel spaceship fanfare' make an appearance. I remember the last time I was at a concert when they played Star Wars, the brass section was: 6 French Horns 5 T...  [Read More]

More power to the brass, got it. I think I'll add some bass trombones as well to give the brass section more sizzle(sp?) the brass samples I used last time was sampled from a brass section with 3 trumpets 4 french horns 3 tenor trombones and 1 tuba -...  [Read More]

So at last I got the new brass library, and that means I'm now ready to begin on a new version of the ST. But before I do, I'd like to hear all the things you'd like me to change. Throw all the critizism you have at me - anything from amount of rever...  [Read More]

This CAN'T be anything else than a joke, I'm pretty sure it's The_One (Rich?) who's made it look like one of the official Lucasarts press releases, and put it up there. Besides what are the chances that Lucasarts closes it exactly on April 1st? lol,...  [Read More]

I was the one who made it, and by all means use it! :) I will soon (depending on how fast I get the new instrument samples) be an update to it, that should make it sound better....  [Read More]

wait wait wait! the star wars theme in the beginning IS a real orchestra - it's a recording of the Utah Symphony. I haven't sped it up though... Naturally you can hear the difference - there is only so much you can do with those old midi - it would...  [Read More]

really? do you mean the Dark Forces theme or the main SW theme? I tried to make the DF theme more powerful this time - though I can understand it if you mean the SW theme, since the last time I used a recording of the Royal Scottish National Orchestr...  [Read More]

Okay, so I'm finally working on a second version of my fan soundtrack, I've managed to get a sound I think is pretty good, though I also thought that about the 1st version when I made it, so I'll probably make a 3rd version some time in the future. A...  [Read More]

ehm... correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the soundtrack for the mod supposed to be made with the same equipment that Clint Bajakian used when he wrote it so that we hear it like he did? That's what I've been asuming is the whole idea, and not to mak...  [Read More]

I don't like most of it - sure making some of the battles more epic could be good, it'll just remove a lot of the 'handmade' quality I loved from the OT. Adding the Imperial March to ANH makes sense to me though - it kinda puts the music a little off...  [Read More]

eh? If I remember correctly 'Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight' doesn't use gob files - only the first Dark Forces. DF2:JK has redbook audio so you can just throw it in your cd player....  [Read More]

Talking about Tie-Fighter made me think of 'X-wing Collecter's series' where LA had converted the old midi to digital audio (except the in-flight tracks which are still cd audio) but they used god awful synth for some reason......  [Read More]

Oh right, I forgot about the Rogue Squadron series! Chris Hьlsbeck is also quite talented imo. I remember the good old C64 and Amiga days where he composed the music for such games as Turrican and R-Type. I wish they had used more of McNeely's work...  [Read More]

Ugh! Don't get me started on the Kotor soundtrack (It seems every time I critisize Jeremy Soule on a forum the topic dies), I'm waiting for the game for PC but I have the soundtrack, sounds like it might just as well have been composed for Neverwinte...  [Read More]
