In my quick glean of the topic Qliver seemed to have his finger on the pulse. Let's face it, much of the points in this discussion can best be satisfied by things like listening to talented song lyrics or signing yourself into a mental institution. I...  [Read More]

Not so. There are defences to Murder. Some, like provocation, reduce the sentence to manslaughter, others, like reasonable self defence, acquit. Semantics. You still get charged unless there are special, very unusual circumstances. Under the justifi...  [Read More]

Not stepping into the thread or anything, just making a technical correction. Not to mention their general practice of "common law" that is, rules based on what the people find acceptable at the time of the ruling, Common Law is actually so...  [Read More]

I'm noticing a real cultural divide between Americanism and Empire here, which goes back to how government is performed very, very differently between the US and British Parliamentary systems. Point one: it is not un-Constitutional to favour a relig...  [Read More]

I've got to say from a purely academic point of view, Garfield appears to have taken a piece of sensationalism and attempted to further that without an entirely independent research. This would be a debating tactic, not an academic research methodolo...  [Read More]

Because Australia has no fundamental laws relating to religion (like the way freedom of religion is written into the US Constitution), there is no need for court rulings to determine that a belief is a religion. Legally there is nothing which says Ca...  [Read More]

Since religious devotion ~might~ loosely be described as a form of political compass, I'll run with it a little, hope you don't mind Allronix. If it gets too involved as to command its own title, I'll start a new thread. As an Australian naturally I...  [Read More]
