Edward- since you were working from one texture sheet, did you work at a higher resolution and then scale own afterwards? Just curious. I've been working on some UT2k3 models lately, and so I've been usually working just from 1 texture sheet. I usually start at 2x the size of what I finally scale down to. It gets a bit 'fun' working at 2048x2048.... sometimes.
Btw- I really like how the face turned out. Good skin tone.
That's definately a good thing to do especially with pc-based games and next gen engines like UT2003. Mara's skin was painted at 1024, but in a way I kinda wished I painted her at double the rez and just scaled down. Though it's alot easier to paint at 1024, there is less detail to consider and I think the rez is adequate enough for the jKO engine.

oh, by the way Ed, you may have already got my mail but when she is in her idle medium stance position her arm goes directly through her chest. that may be a problem. i also sent you an npc mod for mara. it looks great in-game and the bot is very challenging!

with that shoulder thing, that cant be fixed, its a problem with the animation skeleton, the fact she has large... appendiges means the animations system can't see that and just makes the arm go through. you can't fix it, short of shrinking the torso a bit. Look at the Aayla model and the Mace model - they both have the same thing.
With the skin on the arms twisting - all models to that, look at the darth maul model to see it (swining overhead in heavy stance). I'm pretty sure you can't fix that either.
hadn't noticed that. if that's true, that's a shame. another good reason for raven to help us out on new animations.
ah well. in the heat of a battle, i doubt many would notice.
But overall its a good model made by one hell of a nice guy

The arm thing can be improved to a huge degree. I've seen models with far larger torso areas and arms(like Maw), and the clipping was nowhere near that bad. I'm not a modeler, but I think it would simply involve weighting the boobs to their respective arms slightly so they move out of the way when the the arms come close. That could also make for some interesting bouncing when running.

I prefer the regular hair to the ponytail. The only two female models in JK2 right now have ponytails... it's about time we see some variety! :D
And we need some more female models for this game... it's all a bunch of guys running around. Seems a little... unusual. :xp:

that's why there would be both... besides, jan and tavion may have ponytails, but the rest of the model sucks for editing.

I'm gonna work on these problems as soon as I can get some time (probably friday)
I think what Darth Loki said is pretty much spot on. Most models have that problem with the overhead swing (not as bad as mine) but it lies mainly in the mesh and not the weighting, so I may have to make some alterations to it, which could take time, but rest assured it's for the best :)

For the arm, it's a problem with the animations files. Some moves seems to have some "bugs" . For example open a glm file in modview and just play the move a2..stabback or something like this (it's at the beginning) u will see that the right arm is turn to 180° and for other moves like the saber attack it's the same.
The only way to make this looks better is to attach the bones humerus and humerusX to the torso shoulder but then it's the torso to not deform normally in some moves, so choose what you want but it can't be perfect

yes... a nude skin for gameplay = lose... but i've never been against the idea of a base skin for an sdk...
The people who use nude skins are often so busy staring at their skin that they are distracted in-game and lose often. I say, let the maniacs use their skins-they harm only themselves.
so is that arm disfigurment get fixed or are you still working on it?
I had a look at it last night. It's pretty useless to fix. I have a few more ideas at hand but I think it's a case of re-modeling that area of the mesh so it can deform better. There is also another bug in which segment seams are visible around that area due to the poor deformation, so it's all quite a major fix. I'll work on it at the weekend.
