Oh yeah, remember to disable shadows. They're ugly and all they do is slow down the game and are generally a massive burden on graphics cards....  [Read More]

I don't think your problems have anything to do with the sound card, per se, but rather it has to do with the implementation and conflict between the AGP/PCI interface in general. I stopped experiencing crashes as soon as I installed the AGP 1.90 d...  [Read More]

Sweet Jesus, I just had a 3-hour long game of Jedi Knight II. Guess what, it finally works! I'm not sure what I did, but here's all of the changes I made since the last time I played JK2: 1. Downloaded 28.32 drivers and installed them. Like I said...  [Read More]

It seems to be a common problem with all Quake 3 engine games, though much more frequent with JK2. Hmm, in any case, I was wondering - for all those of you who can run the game without it freezing/crashing, what is your PCI Latency in your BIOS set...  [Read More]

I was playing a game of RTCW last night and had the freeze loop thing after about an hour but instead of cold freezing my computer it simply gave me some .dll error with the game file and dropped me back to the desktop. I wish that sort of thing wo...  [Read More]

I'm not sure why you'd need to alter your PCI texture settings when you're using an AGP card. Hmm, perhaps you should check your DXDIAG and see if you're running your card without AGP Texture Acceleration. Some of the new drivers (Well, everything af...  [Read More]

Heya Havikar, That fix only works if you're suffering from cache-related crashes in Multiplayer. Nonetheless, good job. It's sad to see how many crash/freeze bugs there are with JK2. I mean, what's up with that? Are we just paying to be beta teste...  [Read More]

Okay, don't bother with the RAM thing. I got it to work for a whole 45 minutes and even got through some pretty big firefights (20+ stormtroopers and grenades) LD and then when I least expected, it froze up with the looping sound and I had to cold r...  [Read More]

Hey guys, an update on my part. I just went to my BIOS settings and configured my RAM settings to make them slower, because I have a feeling that the whole freezing thing could be the result of the RAM overheating (One of them is Samsung, the other'...  [Read More]

I for one do not believe that this is a DirectX related error, as it seems it has more to do with one of the game's GL Extentions having a conflict with certain graphics cards, AGP ports, motherboards or soundcards; all of which is often the result o...  [Read More]

Well I certainly don't have the choice of installing drivers other than 23.11 because anything else just refuses to work with dxdiag properly, disabling my AGP Texture Acceleration. I haven't tried playing JK2 yet out of fear of crashes (Yes, I'm p...  [Read More]

You know, I noticed something, and also from the FAQs, the guy who wrote it says that JK2 can overheat your graphics card. And reading from other users' posts here, about MOHAA and RTCW crashing after JK2 crashes leads me to believe that JK2 is short...  [Read More]

Do you know what pisses me off? FAQs with ambiguous answers. All the answers assume that you're trying to run the game in 1600x1200 (not that it should crash you if you have the power, a lot of people play other games in that resolution) and that it'...  [Read More]

I just read the FAQ. I just don't get it. Why is Jedi Knight 2 the only game which runs smoothly but manages to "overheat" your graphics card and/or processor? I just don't buy that. It sounds like a load of ****. I and I'm sure countless...  [Read More]

That's strange, though. The demo runs fine for me (and I'm sure a lot of other people as well). It's definitely related, though. Good job on spotting that out. Here's one I spotted: In the second mission (Artus_Mine) I was standing around when one o...  [Read More]
