There's definitely a hack-and-slash mentality since you get XP for destroying anything and everything--that part I don't like. I'm just now reading WoD after playing VtMB (and deciding I really can't play that til the kids get older unless I can find...  [Read More]

The problem 3.5e/d20 is that the system is founded on an incredibly forced class- and level-based core. While this can be deemed reasonable to some extent for D&D in light of earlier version of the game, it is terrible for games like Star Wars...  [Read More]

I miss THACO, and my glorious negative AC ratings. It encouraged using math and having to think, unlike the dumbed down lame D20 system. Not to mention the lameness that D20 calls "Feats" weapon skills are not feats. Example: Two Weapon Fig...  [Read More]

Writing and animation and some other design aspects could be considered art forms; not fine art, but art forms. But a game itself is not a work of art. Not all that entertains is art. In Shakespeare's time, seeing one of his plays was considered les...  [Read More]

Ars Technica has a very interesting article: http://arstechnica.com/articles/culture/game-writing-1.ars It deals with the question of whether good writing in games is bound to rise, how it is perceived in the business, and whether good game writing...  [Read More]

^You may add the unecessary, but very funny, HK Droid pacifier, that you get with Geeda (on Nar Shadaa) after completing the quest "Trade War" ( I think), on her favor. Geeda will lower her prices and the Pacifier will become available. Jus...  [Read More]

Fallout 2 rules supreme if you like Monty Python - lots of references. I'd suggest buying and playing both Fallout 1 and 2. They're excellent games even if they are ancient. Heck, I still play Fallout 2 on occasion....  [Read More]

Anyone tried The Summoner? It's old now, sure, but the graphics are tolerable if you're used to KotOR, and the interface will seem very similar. They reuse some stuff way too often, but I kind of did like parts of the plot - there are some genuine s...  [Read More]

Oh, well. The thread is here, so I don't need to make a new one. OK, in the hopes of getting KotOR Tool running, I've reinstalled TSL and while I'm at it, I've decided to give it another try. Now, Handmaiden is a proper Jedi but she seems to be suff...  [Read More]

Like stoffe said, Handmaiden won't talk to you again, if that happens. Ever. I usually avoid it by maxing my INF with Handmaiden was much as possible immediately. Then I can get full INF with Visas afterwards without having to worry about it, even if...  [Read More]

Seems the GTA-haters are already out in force even before gta4 has even been released. This time the trailer seems to have caused it. Apparently the powers that be in NY are none to pleased that Liberty City looks a bit too much like their beloved ci...  [Read More]

GTA: San Andreas is a wonderful game. Lots of people are infuriated about the adult content, but I just don't see why. I mean, the average gamer is well over 20 years of age now, so is it really so unreasonable to make games with that sort of content...  [Read More]

Just because a PC version wont be out for launch, doesn't necessarily mean it wont be out later. Perhaps. I can live in the hope that you're right, at least. And as Ztalker points out, they'll probably need all the money they can bring together for...  [Read More]

GTA 4 is one of the games that I will definitely be playing, providing a PC version is made and released, since I'm really not the type that buys any console because of any game. Agreed. I'd like to play GTA 4, but if it's not on the pc, then I won'...  [Read More]

Unless you're completely dedicated solely to melee, definitely choose Sentinel in TSL. As jonathan7 points out, you get far more skill points as a sentinel, and unlike KotOR, skills are quite important in TSL to say the least - if you have the right...  [Read More]

I think that it's most fitting to choose Jedi Sentinel/Sith Lord, because you really use DS powers a lot more, since most LS powers are buffering ones, and you rarely have to use them many times in one battle. As a Darksider, however, you'll use much...  [Read More]

Well, I've found the most effective combination to be sentinel/jedi master (if LS). Since skills are more useful in TSL than in KotOR, the sentinel has some clear advantages, and later the weapon master seems overkill - what does it matter if you hit...  [Read More]

In TSL, the real problem is that everyone has the same attack base. That means the guardian has only force jump and few measely extra feats and hit points in advantage over the sentinel, who has tons more skill points and force immunity to certain ab...  [Read More]

I usually let Sunry off the hook. I hate doing it, because he's as guilty as can be, yet the Republic will suffer otherwise. I like that the game was brave enough to not make this issue black and white. Are you going to go where justice leads you and...  [Read More]
