3dfx has always released both Voodoo2 and Voodoo3 drivers at the same time, so I'd assume they'd do the same for Force Commander compliant drivers. The Voodoo2 may no longer be a top of the line card, but I seriously doubt 3dfx would alienate the mil...  [Read More]

True, but the fact that this problem also affects Voodoo3 cards may give 3dfx the incentive to fix the problem and get a driver update posted....  [Read More]

Thanks. 3dfx will most likely fix this problem in their next driver update, so there's really no reason to stay away from Voodoo2 or Voodoo3 cards. [This message has been edited by Argath (edited March 24, 2000).]...  [Read More]

Yeah, Lucasarts has the same list posted on their website. I'm just wondering where WetWilly heard that Voodoo2 cards don't work correctly with the game....  [Read More]

In that case, I'd suggest upgrading your video card. Upgrading memory would help performance, but getting rid of that Rage Pro and replacing it with something more capable would do your system a world of good. For cheap, fast performance, a Voodoo2 o...  [Read More]

There's no way to make a good recommendation unless you post your current computer specs. Computers are called systems for a reason; each part's performance is greatly affected by the other components. Depending on what you currently have, either a R...  [Read More]

Just out of curiosity, how much memory did you have beforehand? On slower computers, TNT cards occasionally don't perform as well as many other cards (including the older Voodoo Graphics), but it's odd that performance was horribly worse....  [Read More]

My apologies, -devmode was the switch I was thinking of. Like -displayconfig, it will enable the advanced menu under video options, allowing you to modify some extra options. Since you removed the Voodoo Graphics card already, I'm not sure whether th...  [Read More]

Glide wrappers just translate Glide calls into another API so non-3dfx owners can play Glide games. JK is a Direct3D game, so such a wrapper couldn't be used. The TNT is supported by JK, despite what Lucasarts says. Try one of the different driver v...  [Read More]

It supports more than four players; up to sixteen, if I recall correctly, though it is entirely possible that I am incorrect. At any rate, you're never going to realistically be able to play in a game that large over the internet, simply due to how J...  [Read More]

Run JK with either the -devmode or -displayconfig switches, which will give you access to an Advanced menu under Video Options. From there, you can select which 3D card to use, among other things....  [Read More]

Recordable and rewritable CD's have been around for years, yet they haven't replaced cassette tapes. Optically recording to a disk with a laser requires the media to remain relatively stable, which limits the effectiveness of CD and DVD as recordable...  [Read More]

Until recordable DVD becomes a widespread format, VHS will be around. CD's and DVD's are vastly superior to cassettes and VHS tapes, but tapes allow easy recording and erasure. For commercial products, I no longer purchase VHS or cassette tapes, but...  [Read More]

The old Celerons are excellent CPU's. They perform equivalently to Intel's high end offerings at a fraction of the price, and overclock extremely well. I don't see how they can "suck", considering they were the best value CPU for over a yea...  [Read More]

Athlons are a lot faster than Celerons. The new Celerons (566+) are crippled Coppermines that don't perform very well, so I would suggest staying away from them. Generally, an Athlon would wind up being a better bang for the buck....  [Read More]

For all practical purposes, bleem! can be called an emulator, but it technically doesn't fall under the same category because it doesn't attempt to emulate the PSX's hardware. It'd be more comparable to a 3D API wrapper, which translates calls into a...  [Read More]

Ah, now it makes sense. They're talking about screen dimensions other than 4:3, which would require software support to use correctly. It appears that the software that comes with the card changes the screen dimensions to 16:10 so the picture (normal...  [Read More]

An Athlon 750 costs around $250, nearly $100 cheaper than a PIII 733 would cost. With a decent motherboard, that figure comes to a bit over $360. It's cheaper and faster than the PIII, so I really see no reason to go with Intel. I'd also recommend a...  [Read More]

Eh, 9 volt line into a 6 volt input? All wires from the power supply are attached to a connector that can only be plugged in one way, so it's physically impossible to destroy your system by hooking up the power supply incorrectly. It was more a conce...  [Read More]
