if the time lines crossed and the empire entered an all out battle against the trade federation what would happen? I think the empire would win because: 1. battle droids aren't very sturdy or smart. 2. two words "death star" 3. and a fleet that dwarfs the trade federation's fleet.

Well, my friends:
Consider all the points.
1. The Starships
Star Destroyers are very formidable as far as firepower, but the Trade Federation battleships are almost twice their size, with stronger shields. The weak spot of a Destroyer is in the open, while a TF Battleship's reactor is deep within the hangar area. I think TF Battleships win.
2. Starfighters
TIEs and Droid Fighters are very similar. Droid Fighters have better weaponry (warheads), but TIEs are faster, and the pilots are much better. I think TIEs win.
3. Ground troops
Well, Battle Droids are no match for Stormtroopers. Their actions are too delayed by the Droid Control ship controlling them. However, Destroyer Droids would mop them out, unless the Empire brings in Darktroopers. Now THAT would be a battle to remember.
4. Ground vehicles
Ooh, a toughy. AT-ATs could grind most TF vehicles under their feet, but a TF ATT has enough weapons to do considerable damage. Then again, the heavy turrets of Echo Base didn't have much effect, so prepare to see some TF tanks and MTTs grinded in the dirt.
5. Darth Vader vs. Nute Gunray?

Well, that's about it. The only thing the Trade Federation has left is its battleships. I suppose that's enough, but the Empire can just bring in an Interdictor and a SSD, Eclipse, or Death Star to finish off the fleet. Besides, the Empire has 125,000 STDs in service; the TF probably has around 100 battleships.
That's how the Empire took over, methinks.

Are you sure the TF ships are bigger than Star Destroyers? They didn't even look a kilometer in diameter, let alone 1.6. I doubt they have anywhere near as many turbolasers either, plus all their ships were droids.

The Trade Federation ships are a little smaller (stem-to-stern) than ISDs, they're also lighter because the TF ships are hollow (they're modified cargo ships, after all).

The only sites I'va found with stats on the mammoth TF battleship say it's about 3,000 meters.
Besides, look how tiny each window is on it. I'd lika to get accurate pictures of each and set them side by side for perfect size comparison.

Sure that's all great. The Empire could easily destroy the TF, but there's one little detail that they wouldn't fight each other. The Emperor (or Darth Sidious) controlled both of them.
You can say that he was just working with them because of what Rune Haako mentions (we should've never made this bargain), but it shows in Insider's Guide that they blockade the planet because of the taxation of trade routes placed on by the Senate.
So really I think Sidious..er..Palpatine was pulling their leash the whole time. So...
My point is they are basically on the same side. They wouldn't fight. But if you're saying: If they would fight, then my whole big statement looks really stupid.

just because the naboo fighters could'nt get through the trade federation shields doesn't mean that the empire's weapons wouldn't cut them to shreds.
afterall, blasters seem to have improved in the 30 year gap, and if the trade fed's sheilds were so hot then the empire would have used them. afterall, naboo fighters were pants.
as for the death star, it wouldn't stand a chance. some annoying kid would get lost and accidentally fly into it's superstructure and blow up it's power generator. :-)
One thing. The Empire's star destroyers wouldn't stand a chance. Anyone ever played Xwing Alliance? A Droid Fighter could easily waste it.

I know this isn't part of the discussion but who do you think will win between Star Wars and Star Trek (for convinving look at the previous messages)
Star Trek would lose because of the general "suck factor". And before you ask, Star trek would also lose to Battlestar Gallactica, Buck Rogers and Lost in Space.
PS Star Trek would also lose to a snowy screen after my cable went out.

If you ask me the trade federation would win.
1.Battle droids arrent controlled by the control ship it just keeps their power up and battle droids are programmed with different battle situations.
2.Droid fighters are very fast and powerful not to mention the scanners.
3.The battleships have many powerful ion cannons and are HUGE.
4.Naboo starfighters were very powerful but are used only for the planet Naboo's protection.
5.The federation has superior numbers of battleships,troops,and vehicles.
The commanding Battle droids are more intelligent than their troops.
