Meh, It's a good movie but not MINDBLOWINGLY AWESOME as people make it out to be. I think my main gripe was the cast, I've always disliked Tim Robbins for reasons unknown. Only seen it once though, maybe I should give it another spin sometime.

Hey Brohammed, check out Jacob's Ladder. Robbins is excellent in that one.

Definitely, one of my favorite movies, and an excellent psychological horror/thriller. It was also, alongside Twin Peaks, the main inspiration for the Silent Hill games. :)

Well, today is the day. My girlfriends mom and grandma arrived here yesterday from Tucson and L.A. So far my girlfriend believes that the big surprise thus far was her grandma coming up. She also believes that the "party" we had on her birthday a few days ago was her party and was really happy about it. Today I originally had reservations at a nice family style restaurant where I'd get her there and shed find a bunch of people waiting for her in surprise. But the idiot restaurant overbooked and canceled my reservations. However, my mom and sister have decided the hell with that place, today while the gf, mom, grandma, and I are out looking around the cities (I live in the twin cities for anyone who didn't know) they are gonna cook lots of food, and decorate the house and have a big bonfire. A bunch of friends who were going to go to the restaurant and surprise her are still gonna show up. So when we get back she will have that waiting for her.

At the party is when I'm going to propose to her.

Wish me luck.

Haven't posted in a while so I have lots of good things:

CDs:
Moon Soundtrack - Clint Mansell
Secretary Soundtrack
Golden State - Bush
Will Evans Project - Selftitled (live acoustic recording, a really excellent local band)
Deconstructed - Bush
Irresistible Bliss - Soul Coughing

Books:

Against Method - Paul Feyerabend
The Bell Jar - Slyvia Plath
Descent: Equinox - Pete Telep
Atlas Shrugged - Ayn Rand
The Doom That Came To Sarnath - HP Lovecraft
Either/Or Vol. 1 - Kierkegaard (Hong trans)
The Language Instinct - Steven Pinker (although this was more like a lame, slightly kooky thing)
A huge javascript reference book, the better to write on Greasemonkey with

A mirror
Haircut
Pizza, Personal (several)
Braid (from Steam)
The first Tales of MI season, as well as a poster signed by Purcell (<3 that dude)
Sacrifice (the game from 2000, it's pretty fun but had to work around some compatibility issues to get it running)

A good haul, yes indeed.

Two of the better ones.

I'll be "distributing" this stuff soon, don't worry.

In my opinion, there is a limit to how detailed the copies can be, because they're from a book, there is only so many pixels I can stretch them out to before the imperfections and color raster of the printing start to show.

I've been working out with my Uncle and cousins every sunday for a little while, bench pressing, just because I was tired of being a big fat weak slob. Today I managed to do a single at 205, beating my previous best of 185 by 20 pounds.

Woohoo strength gains \n/

You definitely beat me. I'm not sure what my max is, but I don't think it's over 200. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's in the 180 region. I need to work on strength training.

Woohoo strength gains \n/I maxed out benching like 320 in middle school/freshman year of high school when I played football, but I started lifting once a week maybe 3 weeks ago and I can only put up like 150 since my muscles aren't used to it. It's making me feel prematurely old :/

Make sure to do cardio too though, or you'll just turn into a big fat strong slob.

Everything I've read says that unless you're an athlete training for a sport, cardio is all about intensity and not as much about time. When I run I typically do intervals--it feels much more satisfying than long distance.

Nothing ever beats jumping rope when it comes to cardio, though.

And since Aliens: Colonial Marines is not coming out until 2011....supposedly... I flipped that reserve to:

cause you're a heathen who never read Coleridge or listened to Powerslave before? Or at least the latter one for sure based on your post :P

Sold my stupid Wii after dealing with a stupid Canadian buyer (expensive shipping also pissed me off). Instead today sold my Wii to a dude in world famous Fargo, North Dakota. 10 minutes later I was $168 richer, an hour later I shipped the Wii at the local UPS store, another hour later I was $371.46 poorer... again.

Uncharted 1 ($28)

and
$13 shipping

(Dammit Newegg, two days ago PS3 Slim shipping was free!)

Now I only have $0.93 in my Paypal account. And the $30+ in eBay fees aren't going to go away, lol.

Also, talking to UPS employee Austen about Call of Duty 4 and Xbox Live for 5 minutes was fun. He was surprised when I told him I wouldn't be selling my 360 like the Wii, cause "then the 50+ games I have won't work anymore". Told him to check out Battlefield and he was interested. Also, he gave me the box and packaging free of charge, saving me like $4.

Oh, and also, I'm only going to play console exclusives on this thing. I'm still 360 based, no matter what.

Yeah, I talked it over with the guy at the counter about all my plans involving my PS3. It coming in the mail and me having all the best games for it right away. But then how Uncharted 2 is impossible to find at the moment. So I asked him "If I bought two copies of one game and then came back and exchanged it for a copy of Uncharted 2, could I do that?" Well, he totally said yes (and another one agreed with him, saying it was a question they've been asked a few time before). So I bought two copies of Killzone 2 so I can return it later. I can wait, gonna have to play through Uncharted 1, anyways.
