Roger Wilco is pretty much designed for gamers as well... Anyway, in game support for voice is far superior to either, no hassels with setting up separate voice servers, and everyone playing the game can hear, not just you and your friends....  [Read More]

The difference between GTKRadient and QERadient is not huge, if anything it's purely cosmetic, with a few bug fixes. Most tutorials are equally valid for either. GTKRadient is the "future" though, at least for Q3 Engine editing....  [Read More]

It's not a plug-in, it's a stand alone application. It was recently demostrated doing Q3A .map work, so if Raven decide to support it, it will be supported. It's not too hard, it's basically writting an entity list, but it depends on GMax's mass mark...  [Read More]

No, upstream and downstream are separate. Some upstream is needed when downloading, but you're being held back by the downstream here. 18k seems low, so you're probably being limited by something from the server you're downloading from. 256k is nice...  [Read More]

Sorry to break it to you, but that would've been a planned scripted event, but if you simply put enough in the world, it doesn't seem out of place. Q3 isn't in anyway geared up for geomod technology......  [Read More]

The size of CD/DVD has no bearing on the interactivity of the environment. As was said, this is done by the program, and is only limited by RAM. Currently, other than cinematics, and music, the major use of space on CDs is growing to be high resoluti...  [Read More]

Windows doesn't crash that often really. And when it does it's generally due to the **** people put it through. My Windows 98 was rock solid, and I've had even fewer crashes with Win2000. Don't get me wrong, I have Linux on another computer, but Win...  [Read More]

The minimum requirements won't be more than 128meg ram, tops. A Geforce DDR is also far too high, that cuts off a huge portion of their market. Expect old stuff like Voodoo 3's to be supported. (Well, with the demise of 3dfx, maybe not supported, but...  [Read More]

Firstly, GeForce3 will make old games look better, it has basically free FSAA, and will run them in higher resolutions, at higher bitdepths... As for TrueForm, what use is it when you have high poly source art :D?...  [Read More]
Actually, nitpicking, but doubling the polycount isn't an issue of the engine. It's simply they used more in characters/level design. The actually code is probably no different to handle that....  [Read More]
The don't have to start the codebase over again. They have a complete license of the Q3 engine. They would be crazy to rewrite simple things like game save code when they've already started it....  [Read More]

Some of the more interactive features you are looking for would be cool, but I'm waiting for the RPG for that one ;). Half-Life was actually not that interactive, most of the bits that seemed so were pre-scripted. But it was all the better for it....  [Read More]
