Try disabling DirectSound acceleration in DXDiag... That did it for me, even tho it is a pretty low-budget solution... I want to know if our problems are related. Also, if you're on XP, go into your Windows\System32 directory and load up drwtsn32.ex...  [Read More]

Try setting DSound acceleration to 0 in DXDiag.. That seems to fix my locking problems... Also, I had trouble with the latest Detonator drivers (28.32). Try the 22.80 or 27.42... I got the game to work with both of those driver sets....  [Read More]

Upon further experimentation I've found that it was *not* the AGP setting that made my system more stable.. Rather, it was slowing down my OC'd CPU that made the difference. Actually, with my old-ass Asus K7M, I'm not even sure whether I can even run...  [Read More]

Ok... Just confirmed - played for like an hour without crashes - DX sound accel. at max, all in-game options (GL ext., high qual. sound, volumetric shadows, etc.) turned on! Seriously, before changing my AGP settings I'd be lucky to hit "load&q...  [Read More]

Wow!! Dropping to 1X AGP has made my ENTIRE SYSTEM more stable! I also "underclocked" my perma overclocked (500@800) Athlon to a measly 760... Lol!! JK2 runs like a dream now. Not to mention the rest of my system.. I'm going to try re-enab...  [Read More]

You don't seem to have much of a point in the first place. As I already stated, many people seem to be having issues only with JK2, unless you missed that part of my post. Your immature ranting is starting to get on my nerves... I'm not going to bot...  [Read More]

Dude, are you on crack? QUIT USING FRIGGING CAPS. It's apparent that your problems are not just limited to JK2 - good for you. However, it seems that the large majority of us are having problems only with JK2 - meaning that your hypothesis is bunk,...  [Read More]

Lancer, just a note, I too have the crashes *only* in single player... I very rarely, if ever, crash in multi-player. Erm.. For some reason, I get sound stuttering in multi-player, but the game resumes normally after a few seconds.. *shrug*. At leas...  [Read More]

Here's a question for you... Do get these crashes in single-player, multi-player, or both? So far, I've only gotten crashes to desktop with gamma in single player ONLY. No matter what my settings are in multi-player, it does NOT crash. Well, at least...  [Read More]

Yes, add me to the list as well... I'm getting the "no-message-high-gamma-drop-to-desktop" crash. Specs are as follows: AMD Athlon 800 Asus K7M Asus V6600 Deluxe (GF 256) SBLive! 5.1 <- Likely culprit... 384megs RAM etc.. Running on W...  [Read More]

Ok... I've fixed most of the issues I've had with the game, but this one just doesn't go away. I get random crashes to the desktop with no error message or BSOD. After trying many different things, I noticed that setting DSound acceleration to nothi...  [Read More]

Overclocked? Lol.. Um.. My "800mhz" CPU is actually an Athlon **500** running @ 800... it's been that way for over 2 years. And no, I don't have any stability problems with anything at all, so I doubt that that is the culprit. Also, my vide...  [Read More]
