Yup. This is the so-called "tower rush." I've never done it myself. I usually set the map to Large and by the time I find my opponent(s) it's well into TL 2, so I never have time to do it. But one day I might make the map smaller and try i...  [Read More]

I agree about rushing on Hard or Hardest... since the computer "gives itself" extra resources every 10 minutes, it's almost impossible to out-rush it. It can be done, but it's not easy....  [Read More]

I think it can vary, and it also can depend on your tactics. I tried 1-on-2 a few times, but often had both computers rushing me at the same time. This may be due to geography. If you're unlucky enough to be between them, they'll beat on you first. I...  [Read More]

Record/playback is a good idea. Kind of like a sports team watching tape of last week's game to see why they lost. I for one, don't like the idea of the computer getting harder because it cheats, so I tend to avoid those cheater levels myself. I get...  [Read More]

I don't play Hardest (I have enough trouble on Hard, and even on Medium my win percentage is only around 75%). However, given the massive amount of cheating the computer does, I'd say you'd have to be darn near perfect to beat him. That is, you can't...  [Read More]

Yes, they need to be powered, and there is an enormous difference in production. Put 10 banthas into an animal husbandry center that's not powered. It gives you 15 food/min. Now power it: 60 food/min. All buildings other than the CC, the Fortress, a...  [Read More]

Heheh... Sounds like SirKai and I play very similar games, although I use air instad of mechs. Hmm... I wonder what would happen if my 70 or 80 shielded, fully upgraded fighters and bombers went after his AA-guarded strike force. Something tells me...  [Read More]

I do not rush. I defend, defend, defend, until I am ready to hit the bad guy with a force so powerful that unless he has also done nothing but prepare massive defenses, he's dead meat. I have been known to be vulnerable to very quick T2 rushes, if th...  [Read More]

Actually, this is proper behavior, as it allows you to fine-tune your response to an invasion. Suppose a few troops get through your outer turret defense net. While the battle rages there, they get into your middle area and you sound the alarm. Your...  [Read More]

Nova and Ore are listed as units rather than terrain features (stupid, IMO, but that's how it is). The same is true of Fish and Herd Animals... So, to place them, you need to place units. The only "player" that has these units is Gaia. Sele...  [Read More]

I don't have quite that much of a system, but close. You are correct to wonder why you are having problems, since you are so far beyond the minimum requirements. My system has never crashed, but in some games, when there were lots of units around,...  [Read More]

Increasing worker efficiency is not (as you stated) "questionable." It's essential to consistently beat your opponent, unless you want to rush and hope you've got him beat. For consistency in a "normal" game, you need resources, r...  [Read More]

I have seen the computer use sea transports once or twice, but not often. You are right that humans will by-pass your defenses, if you have them, but I wonder... if you don't build any ground defenses at all, wouldn't a human realize that you were v...  [Read More]

I like walls as well as towers. I like feeling like my civilization is "enclosed" and protected, at least from ground-based assaults. Perhaps they are not necessary, but I still like 'em. :)...  [Read More]

Drake is right... you do not need to power the Command Center (nor, if I recall properly, the Fortress). You can tell if something needs power by clicking on the building and looking for that little green circle thingy right above the middle windo...  [Read More]

Good advice. On power cores, I will add: all buildings that require power should be powered at the time they are built, or as soon after as possible. You will find yourself severely hampered if you don't power your buildings. Normally, my first 2 b...  [Read More]

Heheh. Just to ease your mind, you are not the only one who had this happen. I set AoK to do advanced commands the day I installed it, and had them ever since. When I fired up GB, then, and didn't see the advanced stuff, I was a bit mystified as well...  [Read More]

If I remember right, this was a 2-on-2 game, him and 1 computer vs. 2 comps, and his comp ally got wiped out early on (in the first hour or so). That left him playing a 2-on-1 situation against the computer for most of the game. Great job winning!...  [Read More]
