Hrm, that is very strange. Was your idle worker icon flashing? Were your workers idle? I can't imagine why you'd only collect 90 food in all that times unless your workers had gone completely idle....  [Read More]

As the worst GB player out there, I nominate someone we have all played against: The Computer It cannot win unless it cheats (which it does on Hard and Hardest -- giving itself tons of extra resources that you don't get)....  [Read More]

I play the same as you, 2-on-2 with one computer partner (vs. 2 comps). I don't like seeing the other side beat my "partner" though. He's my ally, and I will defend him unless there is substantial risk to my own forces involved. The longe...  [Read More]

Yes, this is how the AI often behaves. You just have to live with it. I do the following: 1. I send my scout to his base near the end of T1/start of T2. I search it during early T2. I do not bother to build hovercraft until I see that he in fact has...  [Read More]

20 workers before heading to TL 2 is a good idea, at least if you're gonna play defensively (as I do). Congrats for sticking it out and not letting him get ya!...  [Read More]

Ah yes, I have had similar "back door" experiences. I always bulid 10 troops (usually a mix of regulars and mounties, with fewer mounties, maybe 3-4) during the waiting period of the TL 1-2 transition, when you can't build workers but food...  [Read More]

The computer definitely builds too many power cores. A few redundant ones in the heart of your village are one thing... having them every 5 or 6 map squares like weeds out in no-man's land is something else. I'm not sure why it does that, but the AI...  [Read More]

Air power works quite well against them. They can't fire back, so you have all the time in the world to take 'em out. Bombers and figthers en masse do a nice job. Grenadiers and assult mechs will work, but you need a lot of them. Put them inside the...  [Read More]

That's why I tend to play 2-on-2 with locked teams. I like having an ally. It's good for trading, for protecting a flank -- and it's also fun, in my opinion, to help defend him when he's under attack. I will often send a worker and a few mechs over t...  [Read More]

If you think you've got the computer whipped, and it won't resign, Bothan Spynet is usually cheap by then (< 1000 Nova) and can help you find that sneaky last few workers, town center, and troop center, that the computer scuttled off and built on...  [Read More]

Never had that happen -- but I play 2-on-2 most of the time, and lock teams, so I don't think it can. Lock teams should prevent it from doing that (even 1-on-1), if you don't want it to do so. Otherwise, just keep attacking it -- it can't force you...  [Read More]

When I play the Empire, I usually load up at least one AT-AT in my invasion force, with 10 Sith Knights (or sometimes 6 ot 7 of them and the rest Sith Masters). They provide extremly good "close ground support" for the mechs, should mounted...  [Read More]

Since original AOE, priests, monks, and now Jedi, do not turn large forces fast enough to make it practical to use them solo (or nearly solo) against those forces. You're right. It takes too long. It has to, or otherwise Jedi would be utterly invinci...  [Read More]

Like anything else, the key to turning is cumulative damage. Killing off units works the same way. If you have 10 troopers and they each target a different attacking enemy unit, you will lose a lot of forces. But if you have all 10 of your guys attac...  [Read More]

1. Assault Mechs are much more powerful than the other types, in terms of their attack. They do almost as much damage as artillery, and can carry a little platoon of soldiers inside. They're basically tough, hardened mechanized transports. 2. Same h...  [Read More]

Yes, you can. In the communication menu, where you would communicate with other players, you can also ask the computer for tribute. Sometimes he gives it, sometimes he doesn't. Like with real players, it depends if he has it to spare....  [Read More]

Spontaneously, no. But they will give you stuff if they have it to spare, and you ask them for it. Also, they will tribute everything they have left if they resign. Which of course usually isn't much....  [Read More]

Well, if they are used to playing against the computer I can see only putting defenses on the main attack vectors, because in most games, the computer picks one path to you and obsesses on it. I have on occasion been surprised (and smacked) by the co...  [Read More]

He's not more efficient than the computer. He just uses resources more wisely. He's more agressive. While you're using your ore to try and build towers to defend yourself, he's using the same ore, to build towers to attack you. This is called a "...  [Read More]
