Gotta give props to Firefox.

Even though I'm mainly a MAC user, and Safari was a very close second.. Firefox with it's tabbed browsing, no-popups, themes, extensions and other goodies just outweigh any other browser's capabilities (IMO).

I've even been able to find a Firefox theme to simulate Safari's look :D

Firefox for me, I've got it installed on both my MAC & PC ;)

Firefox for me. Once I started using Firefox there was no going back for me. The tabbed browsing is awesome, a must have for people like me that like viewing multiple pages - have the presets the way I want them, so when I open the tabs they automatically goto my favorite site, absolutely wonderful. IE is so archaic and the code so shotty I'm suprised Microsoft even allows such a horrific product to be available to so many people.

For all you Firefox users:

Would I have to change my internet service if I want to switch to Firefox? I ask because I'm quite snug in my current provider, SBC Yahoo DSL. Or would I still have SBC, but just use it with a different browser? It's all quite confusing to me, so I'm not sure what to do. :nut:

I prefer Firefox, but I also use IE. Both seem to run fine, though I like the tab system that Firefox employs. And the search toolbar is great.

I use firefox the majority of the time, but on Windows I have messed it up somehow so I can't view flash animation or movies, so I use Opera for that kind of stuff since I'm too lazy to figure out the problem. And I use Firefox in Ubuntu as well.

I use Firefox, and if I need IE for whatever reason that's why I have the IE Tabs extension (sticks an IE instance inside of a FF tab), basically taking the best idea out of Netscape 8 and leapfrogging it. I used Netscape 7 before I switched to Firefox, and I liked that better than IE6 too... I really don't see why anyone sticks with IE.

At work the mac my boss has us use has IE, Netscape and Opera installed on it (I installed Opera, and of course it's the best!). I like how I can not just block popups but also "don't show images" (useful for surfing these forums in public) and delete all private data completely in 3 clicks when I'm finished. It never crashes, but if it did, I can resume right back where I left off (or if I close the program without closing each window beforehand).

Give it a whirl, see what you think. Opera's free now too. From what I hear it has a lot of the same functions as Firefox, only you don't have to go hunting up your plugins to get the same functionality you get with the initial program. I don't know if it supports Linux yet though.

I am a strong supporter of Maxthon (used to be called MyIE2). It can render pages using IE's engine or use the Gecho engine. I like it much better than FireFox. Maxthon has a lot more built into it then FireFox. Its ad blocker works very well too. Both browsers support plug-ins.

If Maxthon isn't installed on a computer (it has to be installed :( ), I keep a copy of portable FireFox on my thumb drive to use.

Ha! I thought I was the only one...

I used IE for a long time and about every 6 months I would have to re-format my HD... I've been using Firefox for a while now and no re-formats, yaaah!

Firefox all the way. Except for the pesky pages that won't work with FF, then I use the IE extention. The lack of ads, popups, and spyware cropping up is just plain awesome. Of course as soon as I open up IE for whatever purpose, there's flashing ads all over the place. Grrr! :xp:

The reasons to switch are all too apparent once you get used to FF. :p

Despite the brief period where IE outshone it due to a security update and the pages that don't work with it and the lack of integration with Windows Media Player and other programs?

It's an awesome browser but it doesn't live up to the hype.

Where can I find the IE extension ?

I'd like to completely take IE off my computer, after next reformate (because of an unrelated issue) I'll need to get it

What Extensions are Firefox users using?
I'm using
Foxytunes
WIZZ RSS reader
Download Manager tweak

IE Tabs (https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=1419&application=firefox). Btw, you can't ever really take IE off your computer; you have to have it on to make Windows work.

I use:

FasterFox
Image Zoom
Adblock
Adblock Filterset.G Updater
IEView
Tabbrowser Preferences
BBcode (really useful here)
Download Manager Tweak
Mouse Gestures
Answers (really useful)
Download Embedded
IE Tab (awesome)
Chatzilla
HOST.IP Geolocation Plugin (cool)
Leet Key (cool)
View Rendered Source Chart
Web Developer
Gmail Notifier

And... I guess that is all. :p

I fell in love with Firefox as soon as I started using it. I've found that the popup blocker in Firefox is much more efficient than the one in IE, but my absolutely favorite feature is the tabbed browser. I think the most current version of Netscape has tabs, too, but I'm sticking with Firefox.

The downloading utilities thing (flash, Quicktime, etc.) is annoying for a while, but once that's taken care of, it's a breeze.

As for extensions, I didn't even know about them before I saw this thread...

I just installed FoxyTunes, colorful tabs, Mozilla Calendar, and Minimize to tray.
