Did you try installing the game from your DVD drive? Your 36X Cd-rom drive, which I'm guessing, is about 2 years old, probably can't deal with the copy protection on the JK2 cd. Give the DVD a shot and cross your fingers!...  [Read More]

From what I remember, aren't most "professional" benchmarks done with sound disabled? I just remember from the Q2 days, that you were always supposed to disable sound before benchmarking so that you could get a "true" videocard be...  [Read More]

I tried another forum and someone posted that they got the problem when they were running with 256MB of memory and set the Maxclients setting to a high number when running a Q3 server. He said that he cured the problem by adding another 256MB stick o...  [Read More]

I found this over at the EF forums from a guy name Lucky/Radar: u can also alter the hunkmegs setting in your efconfig.cfg (for singleplayer mode) or hmconfig.cfg (for holomatch mode) - u'll find both in your baseEF directory/folder. this is how u c...  [Read More]

It seems that the higher you crank your settings, the more likely you are to suffer from the "freezing". I have some experimenting I have to do to see if the blame is DX8.1's or my laziness in installing it - I didn't reinstall mobo, video,...  [Read More]

Stevho, did your MX400 come with active cooling, do you have a fan screwed into its heatsink blowing down onto it? I used to have one of the original GF2 MXs and its heatsink would get blister hot when I ran "killer" 3D apps. If you don't y...  [Read More]

Stevho, if you're running Win98SE, the only way to turn off/on ACPI is to find the option in the BIOS, "ACPI Aware BIOS" or something like that. If you're running with it enabled, after you disable it, save, and reboot, you will be prompted...  [Read More]

netskimmer, you should never mix any RAM sticks that are not identical. You might get away with mixing memory if you just surf and word process but alot of times it will not work with intense apps like games. And....1 large stick of memory is always...  [Read More]

If the problem for many people is that AGP 4X causes freezes, then I doubt that Raven will be able to do anything about it. It would be more related to VIA's implementation of the AGP Bus. The word is that Intel has by far the best implementation of...  [Read More]

Don't always blame the games for having bad loading times. Look at your machine. For alot of people I'm sure this is very true. JK2 runs best with at least 256MB of RAM and a 64MB video card. I don't think people are catching on that newer games ar...  [Read More]
