First off, this sounds like a driver issue. You'll need to download the latest ForceWare driver (http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us) from Nvidia. Before you install it, you'll have to uninstall the old driver, and I highly recommen...  [Read More]

Thanks for the hands-on review, stingerhs. If you have the opportunity to do any more, please don't hesitate to do so!:) ATI's definitely going after the 8800GTS with gusto! Let the price wars begin! YAY!:D...  [Read More]

@NS: C2Ds, especially Allendales, aren't nearly that expensive here. These (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2+50001157+40000343+1050729314&name=Dual-Core) are the chips that I'm talking about. Don't let the Pentiu...  [Read More]

The 2950XT is a good start on the long road to recovery for AMD. The main reason that R600 is slower than G80 is that its pixel processors run at the same clockspeed as the rest of the core, whereas they are clocked faster than the core in the G80. I...  [Read More]

^^^You should tell them that spending ~$1200.00 on performance that they could have gotten for approximately a quarter of the price by buying and overclocking a Q6600 is nothing to brag about.;) Q6600s are selling for $270.00. Bump the FSB up from 1...  [Read More]

@stingerhs: This is just Intel's turn to shine. AMD clearly won the last round and kept the crown for 2-3 years. Even before K8 they were very competitive. They can do it again; just not this time around. And I agree with you about the empty promise...  [Read More]

If they're priced competitively then there's no doubt that they will catch on. Because there is more of a chance for failure when fabricating a native quad-core CPU as opposed to one that is composed of two separate dual-core chips, AMD will most li...  [Read More]

This is an good attempt to make up for the poor yields that AMD is getting while producing native quad-core K10s. These are quad-core K10s that didn't quite make it.:) Pretty clever if you ask me, as it has a good chance of finding a niche in the ma...  [Read More]

It's true that we haven't seen K10's full potential yet, but if the switch from Socket 939/DDR to Socket AM2/DDR2 is any indication, the difference is not going to be great, because core performance is still king. Let's just hope it scales well. If i...  [Read More]

That's not a GS. It's just a plain ol' 6800 with 128MB of DDR, not even DDR2. You could still unlock the pipelines with RivaTuner, but that crappy memory will just cripple the card. Look on FleaBay or get a 7600GS or GT....  [Read More]

An AGP 6800GS is a decent card and you may be able to use RivaTuner to unlock the locked pipelines and vertex shader(s) in the GPU to bring it up to the level of a GT. Then overclock it and you have an ultra!:) Not too shabby for $80.00. Probably the...  [Read More]
