FFXI kinda has that. The monthly fee is only like 12.99 by default with just one character. Each additional character is another $1 a month added to your monthly fee. It helps that in FFXI, you can be all classes on a single character, so you don't e...  [Read More]

What if all statted gear looked like crap, but you could spend real money to upgrade their appearance to look like something cool? Would that be okay? It's pure aesthetics. Just buy an item that you use on your gear to change their appearance to some...  [Read More]

Technically WoW does have microtransactions, though hidden away in the form of Server Transfers and Race Changes and Character Recustomization. If you count those, I would be fine with TOR having those sorts of things you pay for, even if a sex chang...  [Read More]

Why not statted items? It'd be like legendaries in WoW, eventually you'd outlevel them and have to get more, so the effect had is minimal. Pets have an effect for some people. Like the Blizzard Game Store pets, those count towards the pet achievement...  [Read More]

I oppose the pets/decorations/costumes too though, because casuals love that stuff, I love them, and I don't want to pay extra for them. They're no big deal to gear-oriented players, but they are a big deal to the casual types. If you let the casual...  [Read More]

Please no "twists". Just give me a straight monthly fee, no tricks. I don't want microtransactions, MMOs that use that tend to not be traditional in scope(like Free Realms, a hard casual focus). I could accept paid race changes perhaps(like...  [Read More]

Don't most people agree that Obsidian did well on KotOR2, the only problem being that LucasArts forced Obsidian to stop work on it so they could release it for Christmas'04? There's so much unfinished content in the files that prove Obsidian had a lo...  [Read More]

And I'm sure before WoW came out, lots of people wanted a Warcraft 4 instead. The laws of probability say those people HAD to exist. And I'm sure those people are eating their words now that WoW is the online sensation that everyone has played. I can...  [Read More]

Didn't one of TOR's writers confirm a few months back that Revan at least met with the Sith Emperor in the Unknown Regions? I just can't see us needing a full 40-60 hour RPG to explain what happened to Revan after KotOR. It could be easily explained...  [Read More]

Revan's story was done, I don't need another single player RPG to tell me that. We know each exactly what happened to him. He ran off to the Unknown Regions and joined the Sith. There you go. And remembering how LucasArts screwed KotOR2 on rushing i...  [Read More]

Probably since John Riccitiello is the President of EA, they're just giving him his due or something. IMDB's credits are notoriously off for obscure works, since the data is all user submitted through a process that takes weeks. And I recognized Ste...  [Read More]

It'll be announced when it's ready. We have over a year to game launch, doing beta now would be jumping the gun. Next time put this on the Tython Temple board, putting it on the Republic Holonet board will make people think this is news on the Beta s...  [Read More]

I'm sure they'll have space at launch, they just haven't said anything yet because they don't have anything to show yet. That's been BioWare's creed with TOR since it was first announced. In an interview in July of last year, they confirmed there wil...  [Read More]

WoW is known for copying other successful MMOs, but TOR seems too unique to be copyable by WoW. To copy what's looking to make TOR succeed, WoW would have to add fully voiced EVERYTHING to every npc, quest, etc. That alone is well beyond WoW's scope....  [Read More]

Bummer, but as long as it's good work when it's finished, I'll live. Sadly, they are still competing against Cataclysm and Guild Wars 2, not to mention any other non-niche MMO's that may come out between now and then. Honestly, they can rush it and t...  [Read More]

Say what you want about WoW but Blizzard is a top-tier PC developer and I would love it if LucasArts was like them. WoW is constantly getting updates and nothing is released until it is ready and if there are bugs they are quickly fixed. Blizzard ha...  [Read More]

Now that I'm used to the 2011 release year, I don't mind a delay from Spring to Summer or even Fall. Whatever it takes to make the game launch bug-free and full of content. I can wait a few more months if it means the game will launch in a more perfe...  [Read More]

That's probably right. If Apple wanted I'm sure they could bribe some PC Game makers to start putting their games on Mac(like it's rumored Microsoft paid Square Enix to put FFXIII on 360). Imagine what it'd do for Macs if a few high profile games wer...  [Read More]
