What is this thread?
A place for Psychonauts fans to post easter eggs, references to other games/films/etc, glitches and secrets in one definitive place. Posts which have sufficient instructions on how to do said thing will be added to the list below. Once the thread has gone completely stale and nothing else is likely to be submitted, they will be verified, rewritten in a more formal manner and placed onto the main website along with screenshots and whatnot.

How can I help?
This idea will obviously fall flat onto its face if nobody contributes. So, if you know of anything that might be an easter egg, reference or anything like that, please post! The idea is to make this the most thorough guide around, so by all means correct people or add to what they've said if you can!
During the ending cutscene, you can see D'Artagan peeking out of the outhouse at one point. This was originally going to be the main character in Psychonauts, but ended up evolving into Raz. Information from developers and such would imply that "Dart" was a fully animated and working character before the decision was made to rework him, which is most probably why he was implemented in the ending cutscene as a nod. You can see concept art for him here (
http://www.razputin.net/content/showimage/index.php?showimage=content/multimedia/images/concept/015.jpg), here (
http://www.razputin.net/?showimage=content/multimedia/images/concept/023.jpg), here (

http://www.razputin.net/?showimage=content/multimedia/images/concept/025.jpg). This is a low-quality screengrab from the ending cut-scene:

I don't remember who got this screengrab, but thanks regardless. ;
As said in my thread in the Bacon Uplink, it is possible to get into the barrier in Loboto's lab. All that needs to be done is levitating into the pillar part of the barrier and floating down, making sure not to hit the actual dome part. Fun with Loboto ensued, such as blocking his path, riding the brain, etc. I had to take pics.
(Btw, thanks for making this thread! It's an awesome idea.)
I once waited for Loboto to put the brain in the tank, then threw in Pokeylope's.
I know this is probably going to sound dumb, but...
Easter eggs? XD;
Edit: Oh wait! I have found something I can mention! In the Collective Unconcious, floating somewhere behind Oleander's Basic Braining is a slide that looks like one of the credits from the opening, but it reads "YOUR NAME HERE". You can levitate/float to it and look in first person view at it. It's blue. I'd show pictures, but my game is on PS2
Nice. Don't fret about not posting screenshots, if necessary I'll take them myself once I move your submissions to the website. It would be nice if you did, but by no means necessary. ;)
As for an easter egg, check out the following page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_eggs_%28computing%29)
I'll probably tidy up my first post once we have some more submissions to make it a bit more concise/clear. ;)
Is Milla's noightmare room something worth mentioning? Not exactly an easter egg, more like a slightly hidden location.

I think it's an easter egg, other notable eggs:
@The infamous "Stump Joke"
@2HB in the clouds
@The hidden picture in lungfishopolis
@Jumping in Napoleon's castle before moving pieces makes Napoleon angry at you.
@Not really an egg, just a coincidence, the way Lil Oly drifts away at the end of the game is very similar to how Kairi drifts away at the end of Kingdom Hearts
@I like applesauce
You can't tickle milkman boyd after compleating the milkman conspirecy. Even though you have a feather, it'll go right through 'im.
Boyd stays after you go to the Meat Circus, even though in his mind supposedly MMB (Milkman Boyd) is gone. Teleport worm.
Dogen's last name is Boole. Look around the campfire. There's a quite similar looking Psychonaut by the last name of Boole.

K, I knew most of that stuff, but...
@The hidden picture in lungfishopolis
Ehhh?!? o_o;
I'm putting together a glitch video, any specific glitches and directions for me?
I already said this before, but why not! You can add it if you want XD
In the Collective Unconcious, floating somewhere behind Oleander's Basic Braining is a slide that looks like one of the credits from the opening, but it reads "YOUR NAME HERE". You can levitate/float to it and look in first person view at it. It's black with yellow text. I'd show pictures, but my game is on PS2
(I made a mistake the first time I posted it, it isn't blue it's black)
I looked for that tag behind Basic Braining, but I never saw it. ((Oh, there it is! I was looking on the actual door..)) And I never found that picture in Lungfishopolis either, but I wasn't exactly sure where to look. I knew how to find it, just not on which skyscraper. Where is it again?
I would also like to know where the hidden picture is XD;
Also, this isn't something really important, but when I went to check out the pictures of Psychonauts near the campfire theres one that the name has been broken off but it looks very fermilliar... *cough Young Ford cough*
I'm sure everyone's probably noticed that, but I figured I could at least point it out. XD;
This is what? The third glitch thread?
I forgot their names but in the main cabin at Whispering Rock go up to the band, talk to them, take out the feather, and tickle them. Then they'll be stuck looking into eachother's eyes (or at you) for some considerable time.
Those are pictures from the game's development. If I remember right, those first three are from Milla's world... although I'm not so sure about the fourth.
@I like applesauce
That's the best easter egg of them all.
Yeah, quite a lot of stuff changed between the development pics and the final product; go through them carefully and you'll find no end of small changes.
As for that 4th picture, I'm not really sure what exactly it's from. Schafer calls the image "SoundProof" and captions it "Man, why did we cut this awesome room?".
And it's weird that they never put that in there.
but this one time I was reading a book on video games and it had a cheat code inside and it said to type it in and it would take raz to a secret level called HELL
I had a glitch once, but I have no idea how it happened. I was talking to Lili or tickling her with the feather or something, and Raz started saying, "Wanna measure my wrist? Just in case." repeatedly. I had to go inside the Main Lodge to shut him up. And once the voices in the game went out and I had to restart the game to bring them back, and once I got stuck, upside-down, I think, in Gloria's Theatre..but that was all the real glitches I remember.
Um, in Baisic Braining, right wehen you get to the series of walls with flamethrowers on them, before the place where you punch the wall to get to the series of verticle ropes, you drop out of a tunnel, when you land, look behind you in the sky.
You will see a ring, I'm not sure if ti's the exit to the tunnel, or something else, but it's still there.
I also remember someone mentioning a trick to land in the room where you fight the denmother by dropping under the house and levitatite parachuting.

Yeah, I've done that.
Anyway, den mother breakin you say? I'm going to start working out some hidden world finding. Or something.
I've had the voices/sounds dissapear a lot in my game, too. I thought it was just my PS2.
Wait, isn't there some kind of sign on the coaches door or somthing???
http://www.citlink.net/~mcallister/psychonautsbug.jpg)
I experienced a glitch that made night become DAY!
It was a while ago but I think this is how it went:
1. use bacon to get out of milla's mind
2. don't have ford put you back
3. play normally until it's dark
4. go to ford and ask him to put you back where you were
When I did that, I got teleported to the platform on the lake, with no one around. I forgot if the entire camp was abandoned, but I don't think so. Also the horn doesn't work. Raz will say "I think I need to be closer to shore" even if you're directly on it.
Hmm, that's odd. I should try that.
Nitpick time:
Lili is spelled with one L and no Y.
Should I draw you guys a picture?
The items in the scavenger hunt are supposedly all from past LucasArts adventure games. If anybody can help to fill this out by naming where each one came from it'd be awesome. I've filled a few out but the rest.. nada.
As a reminder, here are the objects:
Turkey Sandwich (???)
Gold Doubloon (???)
Eagle Claw (???)
Voodoo Doll (Monkey Island 2)
Pirate Scope (Monkey Island ???)
Glass Eye (???)
Golden Acorn (???)
Miner's Skull (???)
Fertility Idol (???)
Dinosaur Bone (???)
Condor Egg (???)
Cherry Pipe (???)
Diver's Helmet (???)
Fossil (???)
Gold Watch (???)
The Psychonauts comic obviously doesn't count. ;)
The dinosaur bone could possibly be from The Dig, although I don't know if it a dinosaur bone was an actual inventory item. This whole thing could be speculation of course, but we may as well look into it.
There are some special figments around the game which are direct references to Double Fine. In the first floor of the first meat circus tent, there is a muscleman figment which is lifted directly from the original Double Fine Action Comic (
http://www.doublefine.com/comics/scott_comic.php3?n=001). The Double Fine mascot and logo, "Two Headed Baby", also can be found as a figment in various places.
(if you can add extra information to this, please do!)
The blimp seen in Lungfishopolis is a possible reference to Grim Fandango, where a blimp suspended above a bridge is prominently visible whilst exploring part of Rubacava. Just like Razputin in Psychonauts, Manny Calavera in Grim Fandango says the words "There it is..." whilst in this area.
However, in Grim Fandango Manny is in fact referring to the large cat racing track when he says this which is just visible towards the right of the screenshot. Despite this, there is still a strong chance that it is a reference as Tim Schafer was also responsible for Grim Fandango.

Thanks to Tingler for this reference and the screenshots!
Turkey Sandwich (???)
There are lots of random sandwiches on the submarine in Fate of Atlantis? Not sure if this is one of them though!
Gold Doubloon (???)
The interface from Curse of Monkey Island.
Eagle Claw (???)
Voodoo Doll (Monkey Island 2)
Pirate Scope (Monkey Island ???)Monkey Island 1, presumably. There's a telescope on Monkey Island, at least.
Glass Eye (???)
The guy in the SCUMM Bar in MI1 has a glass eye.
Also, Captain Dread has an eye(???) on a necklace as a good luck charm.
Golden Acorn (???)
Miner's Skull (???)
Fertility Idol (???)
The wimpy idol from MI1?
Dinosaur Bone (???)Sam and Max at the dinosaur park, I presume!
Condor Egg (???)
Cherry Pipe (???)
Diver's Helmet (???)
Fossil (???)
The Dig?
Gold Watch (???)
A lot of those are just guesses, though. There's nothing from Grim Fandango or Full Throttle, which is a bit odd, considering.
I've had the voices/sounds dissapear a lot in my game, too. I thought it was just my PS2.
Mine was on PS2 also. Maybe I was playing the game too long or something..I was around the camp, though.
Thats what I thought too, maybe I had been playing too long. Though I lost the voices anywhere; from the camp, inside minds, to Thorny Towers.
I'm just glad you can rewatch movies, otherwise I would have missed quite a bit. ^^;
That's some smart thinkin' Huz. You know your Tim Schaffer games, alright.
I don't think I ever left the camp when the voices went out, and it only happened once. I guess it was just a little bug. At first I thought they were ignoring me. XD
Here's something funny you can do.
if you let raz read the tree stump in the parking lot over and over his mouth will keep moving even after you walk away.

Not necessaraly a figment, but our favorite baby is on the rug in the camp lounge's TV room.
EDIT: Just wanted to mention the pics flying around Ford's sanctuary, involving the suposed pic of Tim with an eye patch, and the various videogame screens like asteroids, I think.
Less of a glitch then a complete error. During 'The Milkman Conspiracy' and 'Gloria's theatre', Ford Cruller, via Bacon, continually used the wrong hints. Like telling me to get to the book depositorium without first obtaining to rifle. And in the theatre, wondering whether the prop doors were real without the lantern being lit.

Um, I got a pic of this...
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e53/psychonautsartsandcrafts/hoop.jpg)
Not sure if they are glitches but try to see through the agents (milkman conspiracy) or Wild Cougar & Wild Bear (camp) eyes the enemy disapears
Note: I havent been able to recreate this bug while playing through the game again.
Also, Captain Dread has an eye(???) on a necklace as a good luck charm.
Indeed he did, until he lost it and we replaced it with a Monocle (some may call a glass eye?) Nice work there.

It's definatley the exit from the tunnel.
As for the Milkman trick, it is FAKE. Raz simply went under and lost an Astral Projection Layer.
Oh la la! What an interesting discovery.
Probably, Darth is an annoying conceited b----.
I think Milla's "nightmare" room is definitely a nice little easter egg for most people. It doesn't actually have anything in it except the tortured souls of dead children... ! (I think the PC Zone interview/article goes some way to explain this... Pretty interesting!).
Also, surely the extra video should be added as an easter egg? If you bother to get 100 rank...
you get a nice little video showing Mr. Pokeylope and Linda (from the Lake).
Dude.... you just spoiled the secret video...
My life is incomplete, forever...
