Since this game will offer unparreled design customization to its players, it's only a matter of time before the mod community makes the jump to Jedi fashion design. Search your feeling, you know it to be true! Honestly, I can't wait to play this game, and once I beat it. I'm going to be spending most of my time with it downloading new clothes/sabers to totally pimp out my Jedi killing machine. So here's your chance to request the snazziest outfits for your Jedi or Sith Wannabe! The only rule is it must be somewhat plausable outfit to wear in the star wars universe, i.e. a tommy hilfigure waredrobe isn't going to cut it (who'd want to anyway?), a KISS costume on the other hand may actually fit depending on the planet you were on. :p Again, this is costume only, no heads.

Dark Jedi: Soldius Snake's power armor.

In a word? Sweet. Technology wise this is possible in star wars, i.e. Phase III Dark Trooper and the armored collar gives it a real meanacing Sith type feel. The armor would also make getting slapped with a lightsaber and living a "little" more beleivable. :D

Here's a picture...

http://www.metalgearextreme.com/images/chara_solidus.gif)

Dark Jedi: Vincent's Syndicate outfit from Cowboy Bebop.

Say what you want about his moral character, but you've got to admit, the guy is a snappy dresser. It manages to combine almost a regal feel with a dark warrior motiff. Great coloring with gold trim on black trenchcoat. Alien crow optional. ;) Here's what it looks like...

He's the mean looking guy on the right.

Okay, post your pick!

well, id like a guy with a trench coat (i think there is one), or a Smith type suit in matrix. Better still, a guy with a purple silk shirt and silver pants, or any cool stylish clothing. But since i gotta chose something starwars like, i'd have to go with the trench coat with various colours to match a saber colour.

jedi arent meant to be flashy, they're supposed to be fairly anonymous- just hanging around the shadows, not drawing attention to themselves, unless the attention is needed.

Brown or Black robes is all they need

I dont think they had bright colours in the star wars universe anyway...and if i saw any jedi running around with bright colours, i'd just wanna cap 'em like those stupid looking teeniebopper clones...

I agree with HertogJan.A Jedi should not have flashy/attractive design. What counts is the heart, and your soul as a Jedi.

DOOKU's CAPE IS ALL I WILL EVER NEED.

But I need the cape to flow in the wind, so whether they make it happen in the engine or not is yet to be seen.

Dark outfits that look cool, but most important have gloves. I think gloves make jedi outfits look cooler. I like the Jedi Training gear figures that hasbro made; http://www.artoosnews.com/potjpics/quitrainer.jpg) and http://www.artoosnews.com/potjpics/trainobi.jpg) Somebody had made a skin based on the Obi-Wan one, but didn't put gloves on him and that made it less cool. I guess I'm talking like X-Men meets Blade meets Star Wars type outfits.

People opposed to this thread suck, no offense of course.

If you don't like the idea, get lost.

Anyway, a good example of a flashy Jedi outfit is Anakin's. Far from traditional Jedi style.

Groovy Jedi training gear! I'd use that one for sure. Reminds me of the concept art for Obi Wan!

I like the Matrix idea too, keep them coming people.

Ah ha! Another great Jedi outfit would be Luke's Dark Empire outfit! Here's a great picture of it.

anikin's outfit (episode 2 outfit) looks pretty jedi generic to me...no hypercolour T-shirt or reflective strips :)
its all pretty basic...
But things like the matrix costumes in SP will just look silly and out of place, make em for MP by all means, but not for SP

PS. Watch the final scenes of Ep2 in the Arena where all the Jedi appear, you'll see the variation in their costume design, from brown robes, to brown robes, to the very outrageous brown robes. :)

but bright and flashy clothes look really out of place with a jedi holding a lightsabre, it doesnt fit the genre at all...contemperizing star wars just looks tacky at best.
Besides, the dark shadowy look is really really cool in my opinion.
I hate the bright flashy colours some comic book heroes use, and it certainly doesnt fit the Jedi image well at all

HertogJan, Matariel.

Why are you guys tripping on the idea of having cool, flashy clothes for Jedi? Would seeing someone with that kind of gear "disturb" your Star Wars expereince? Serriously, lighten up. No one likes a party pooper. 90% of the stuff posted so far has been awesome, and mostly for darksiders who I might add, have the most flashy fashion sense in Star Wars. If you don't like it, don't play with those skins. Isn't that simple? So if you're just going to continue restating your opinion over and over again, can you just please take your complaints elsewhere? No one's forcing you to read this thread. Thanks a lot.

Anyway, back on topic. I found some more really cool threads.

Tom Cruise's Cowboy/Samurai clothes from "The Last Samurai".

http://www.impawards.com/2003/last_samurai.html)

http://www.joblo.com/upcomingmovies/2003/lastsamurai.htm)

Now tell me you wouldn't want to kick dark Jedi butt dressed like that!

Stormtrooper X:

I have a feeling that is isn't going to be nessicary to even "request" those skins. After all, they're movie characters. Someone's bound to make them anyway. I'll still use them in the game though. :D

this is an open forum, so i'll post my opinions wherever i darn please :)

I'm just saying that dressing up Jedi as anime characters or comic book characters is just not going to work- ive seen it before and it looks really really stupid.
The Last Samuri pictures look alright (well, arent Jedi just samuri anyway?), but its almost the same kind of costumes they wear now.

One other thing, are you saying in this thread that these are suggestions for Raven to make models/skins for the game? or for people to make custom clothing when the game comes out?

I for one have a few ideas that i'm drawing down. One is a jedi robe similar to anakins except that the leather part that goes over the shoulders is like a dark red with some black embroidery on it. The under robe however is black. Would look awesome on a sith. I am most likely going to introduce it in a mod i am working on for this game. Some good ideas would be to look at historical figures like the samurai and different myths and legends around the world.

As star wars is a myth based property i think most mythical ideas would look the most fantastic. For those that want trench coats, maybe a variation on the coat, just with that special star wars touch. Hell i already have a few ideas on how i would do that.

Maybe try some armor for shoulder pads or put decals on the lapels of the coat. Remember star wars is a place where you can use your imagination, there are no rules in terms of design, i mean it doesn't exactly have to come from lucas himself in order for it to fit in the universe. Gee i wonder what the hardcore geeks are gonna do when lucas dies........

that was a pretty cool design. On one note, that female twi lek jedi was not inconspicuous at all i mean she had a barely there top which exposed her midriff and a short, tights. She must've been pretty popular at the academy.

so, from your fragmented grammer, ive assumed that you want raven to make these costumes, and if not, someone in the community?

For starters, Raven will almost definately not make user suggested skins/models, the community should be responsible for making things like that.
Therefore, i think you should hold off on the 'Jedi Fashion Show' until the game is released, that way you'll know what you can do, editing wise.

Please, I'm not even going to respond to such a petty insult.

"For starters, Raven will almost definately not make user suggested skins/models, the community should be responsible for making things like that."

Well major DUH, it was supposed to be funny.

"Therefore, i think you should hold off on the 'Jedi Fashion Show' until the game is released, that way you'll know what you can do, editing wise."

If it can be done in JKII, it can be done in JK:A.

You've done nothing but interfere with the purpose of this thread, which was just supposed to be for fun, and really sucked the life out of it. I've asked before, very politely in fact, for you to stop it. So either get with the program, or get lost. You've said your peice, now let us get back to discussing, AGAIN.

Matariel's worst nightmare. :p

How about a suit of regular medieval armor? Like Don Wan Quixotay wore in "The cloud riders" in the classic marvel comic? That'd be hilarious! :D

I'm finding some more stuff now, stay tuned.

what i mean by holding off, is that clothing on characters may have changed in the way they do things in JA, they've said that you can customise your character to a very fine degree.
This means clothing may be interchangable between models (or may be seperate models all togther), like you choose if your character wears a cape, a robe or just a skin-tight suit, and it adds that model on top of your chosen player model.
Im just saying that if you want these outifts in JA, hold off until we know how the clothing is handled.
Until then, speculate all you want on the design, but i still think some of these ideas look dodgy. :)

major up,

Okay, the game is out now and everyone and their mother is disapointed that there are no more player models. Well, post your best design here for the mod community to see! Maybe someone will pick up on your idea and run with it!

Now my past suggestions were quite cool, but here's a skin (not the head so much although that will come eventually I'm sure) that I really want.

Episode III Anakin:

http://www.sithclan.net/episode3/images/Anakin01.jpg)

"but bright and flashy clothes look really out of place with a jedi holding a lightsabre, it doesnt fit the genre at all...contemperizing star wars just looks tacky at best."

PS: HAHAHA! I was right anyway! There were tons of flashy Jedi clothes INCLUDED in the game. So all that said that Jedi would ONLY wear robes and stuff were WRONG! :p

Who sucks now?

well JA takes place during the NJO, correct? it's not the old republic anymore. so i say, OUT WITH THE BROWN AND BLAND!!! in with the hip and stylish. all the jedi and sith are wearing functional, yet aesthetically pleasing outfits these days. hell, anakin was ahead of his time ... i don't see anybody else incorporating LEATHER into their ensemble. that there is one man who knows how to dress.

IT LOOKS GOOD ON YA!!!

:p

what would i like to see? something along the lines of snake pliskin meets austin powers. or maybe the crow meets benny hill. dazzle 'em with bullsh*t i always say. if you can confuse and distract your opponent with flashy colors, they'll regret the can o' whoop-a$$ you're about to open up on 'em.

No, that's not correct. Jedi Academy takes place about 10 years after the Battle of Endor (a year or two after the Jedi Academy is established by Luke Skywalker in The Jedi Academy Trilogy of novels). The NJO EU stuff is something like 25 years after ANH (or about 20+ years after the Battle of Endor) if I'm not mistaken.

Anyway, I have no doubt that modders will be busy at work making new skins for the game.

I'm going to have a bash at some original skinning myself for JA, now I've wet my feet with the Dark Trooper Phase 1 for the Dark Forces Mod. ;)

My general request is cut down on the bright playschool colors. Real jedi and sith, IMO, should go with muted colors... Conservative, cold, clinical, professional (like business suits... FBI, lawyers, matrix, equilibrium, blade, xmen movies, etc).

I'd like stuff in grey shades, all white, or dark grey and black.

Capes are great in movies and still shots but are bad in this context for two huge reasons:

1) You practically need a super computer to properly model cape movement so that it looks realistic. You have to model gravity, air resistance, material weight, material flexibility, body movement, body collision... it's insane just to get a cape to look RIGHT. Needless to say, the Quake 3 engine isn't quite equipped for that sort of thing.

2) Real melee combatants would never wear capes in battle because they'd always get in the way, cause you to trip or slip, tangle up your arms, etc.

Note that at the beginning of the Duel of Fates, they took that dramatic timeout to carefuly place their silly floppy garments to the side before moving on to the administration-of-pain phase of the battle.

doh, i thought the NJO basically encompassed everything after the the jedi academy was established. but i hope i was able to get my point across.

i have a sketch i posted on here a loooooong while back for a character i had hoped to model/skin. gotta find it ... i think it'll fit in well (AND i gotta hone my modeling skills and find that free time that keeps eluding me :p ).

A reskin of the GrayFox. Like, I want it to have team colors and make it more sith like. A Reborn reskin might be nice to, I want it to have team colors and a sith look to it also. Could U like put the name ShadowFox on the back in lime green colors?

I'm with agent. When I think jedi (or sith) I think of a priest or a judge; very boring, yet practical clothing. You also gotta remember that the Jedi order is always being hunted (whether it be the remnant or some hotshot merc who wants the noteriety of killing a jedi). It wouldn't be prudent for a young jedi to stand out in the crowd. Someone needs to at least dull out/darken the default skins.

I was wondering if someone could re-do the Grayfox model from JO with some more polys to fit JA standards? I made a pretty sweet clan skin for the model with some snazzy' dark designs on it and I'd hate not being able to use it again :D

Other than that, I'd like to see some more "robish" outfits for the custom characters. I really miss the "flowing" robes found on the JO models of Palpatine and Obi Wan - and maybe ome "proper" Jedi outfits for the women. Most of them are very un-Jedi'ish :p
