I think it will be linear, and while I'm not a fan of strict linearity, a heavily-scripted game can still be fun and enjoyable to play. Just look at Call Of Duty, Max Payne or Half-Life - which are so on the rails linear you can almost see the tracks...  [Read More]

Why should it? Battlefront is a different type of game, and a 'squad-based' shooter hasn't been done in the SW universe before. In addition, being built on the Unreal engine, it should be slightly easier for mod crews to get into making mods for it....  [Read More]

I take all previews and reviews with a pinch of salt. One thing is for sure...they can't please everyone, so of course there will be bad 'previews' for the game. My main measure of a game these days is whether or not it's fun to play - not how many...  [Read More]

I wrote a 'name generator' in BASIC once (not for SW, but just for fantasy type names), which used to print out reams of nonsense, but you'd find the odd gem hidden away. You just apply some basic rules, like inserting vowels after a certain number o...  [Read More]

You might be interested in this article from E3 (http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/05/17/news_6098654.html), which discusses (briefly) the issue of content over graphics. Some leading people in the industry are already recognising that graphics alone...  [Read More]

I see your point, Kurgan, because I too have had a few reservations based on the trailers. As you say, the commandos seemed to simply stand and dodge fire when tackling that large droid. That might possibly be due to there being no cover in the vicin...  [Read More]

Maybe Team Deathmatch won't be so bad, if they can make it like the one in Call Of Duty, with a smaller number of players. I've been playing a lot of TDM in CoD recently. On servers with lots of people (30-40) it becomes just a mindless frag fest wi...  [Read More]

I tend to agree with Gabrobot on the issue of player limits. If Republic Commando ends up playing like Call Of Duty, where you are more successful by crouch-walking around and trying to outwit enemies and ambush them rather than simply running and g...  [Read More]

I'm sure that however you replace or modify skins in games like Unreal Tournament 2003, you can do the same for Republic Commando. It's based on the same engine. I doubt they will include 'modelling applications' with the editor, though, so as Gabro...  [Read More]
