YES! The Lite-On burner worked fine and the game is playing flawlessly for me. Like I said I didn't even bother trying my CD-ROM drive - I just couldn't face the disappoint. It's just so darned weird to think the plain old CD drive might be the cause...  [Read More]

Wanxi_Brodo, I think you and I are duplicate people in alternate universes. I posted about this yesterday and no one seemed to pay much attention to it. This has happened to me with many games before and I'm sure it's going to happen to alot of peop...  [Read More]

I was getting at that you may be getting the CRC error because your CD-ROM drive is having trouble reading the JK2 cd because of the copy protection scheme used. I've had alot of troubles with games that use copy protection....  [Read More]

I'd say a GTS or a Pro would give you similar results. But I'd get a LEAST a GF2 Pro if not more. I'll be using a Kyro 2 when I load JK2 tomorrow morning. It has given me fantastic results with games so far. It's performed as good as a GF2 Pro and I...  [Read More]

Super post, Loki! I used to use the WickedGL miniGL back when I played Q2. It absolutely rocked back then - I'm amazed that it still rocks with a game as new as JK2!...  [Read More]

Good job, Darth Abbadon! Indy4, you need to go into Windows Explorer and create a folder on your hard drive. Then click on the CD drive in the left pane. This will show you all the directories in the JK2 CD in the right pane. "Drag a box"...  [Read More]

DA, I'm guessing that you're using Windows XP, right? I've never seen anything like that in Windows 98 as it doesn't care as much about trashed installs or uninstalls. I'm thinking you're going to have to enlist an XP expert on your problem - sounds...  [Read More]

How about copying the entire contents of the CD to a directory on your hard drive and try installing from there. It's still doubtful but that may allow you to install the game successfully. Afterwhich, you'd have to refer to my other post to actually...  [Read More]

I'm guessing here but if JK2 is using one of the copy-protection schemes like SafeGuard or whatever, it most likely means that your CD-ROM drive cannot read the CD because of the copy-protection. I'm not sure if this is the case here because I don't...  [Read More]

Can you be more specific on glextensions? I'm figuring it has to do with nvidia's drivers but it's been a while since I used a GeForce 2 MX and I don't remember that. I've been a very happy Kyro 2 user for some time now. Thanks....  [Read More]

my loading times are horrible The biggest boost I ever got in loading levels in any game was to get an IBM 60GXP 7200rpm hard drive - one of the fastest IDE hard drives available today. It had a MAJOR effect on level load time. Much greater, I feel,...  [Read More]

If you're sure you have the onboard video disabled (either in the CMOS or with jumpers) and the Radeon is not working, it's possible that it's not compatible with your Compaq. Are you getting the 640x480x16 with the Radeon installed? That symptom is...  [Read More]

I don't think the video card is supported. And you'll definitely want to add more memory. Make sure your AGP slot is the 2.0 spec not the 1.0 spec (and I'm not talking about AGP 1X or 2X here) before you blow your dosh on a pricey video card. If it'...  [Read More]
