Just download the great SCUMM Revisited, available at http://scummrev.mixnmojo.com The open Dig's datafiles (don't remember if music was joined or in a separate data file) and search for the music tracks, the iMuse cues. You can listen to the music a...  [Read More]

I'm spanish, and there's a lot of english expressions I don't know nothing about. What do you mean with "GTK is bloatier than Windows"? I suppose that you mean than the look&feel of GTK isn't good enough. If that is what you think, I c...  [Read More]

I was thinking a lot about what system could be better to develop Lixoo for. It's not easy to make a choice: the best programming tools are available for Un*x, so Linux could be a good choice (I love Linux); in the other hand the Lixoo IDE would be a...  [Read More]

I'm proud to announce that Lixoo's life has started at SourceForge now I'm decided that it'll be OpenSource (under the GNU GPL :)). I've also started the design of the webpage (http://lixoo.sourceforge.net). I think the design is quite nice & sim...  [Read More]

LIXOO stands for Lightweight Interpreter, eXtensible and Object Oriented, and it means "SCUMM" in Galician. I've decided to start it on June 28th, as I'm busy till that date. Maybe I'll get some help from two friends of mine (well, some hel...  [Read More]

Yeah, sure: installing Timidity is a bit tricky, I forgot commenting that; but the quality of the sound worths while installing that damn piece of code. Say: even MIDIs with an old SB16 (or similar :monkey4: ) can sound like the best synthesizer (I k...  [Read More]

I recommend using TiMidity++ (http://www.goice.co.jp/member/mo/timidity/). It plays midis even at realtime using software synthesis, can use Soundfonts and/or GUS patches (yes, you can make it sound like a real GUS!). It can dump WAVs, of course, but...  [Read More]

First: thanks for answering. Second: explanations. I asked that because some time ago I was thinking about making my own engine (that would be called LIXOO), but surfing over there I found some interesting projects that were on development at that mo...  [Read More]

Does someone knows what happened to SCRAMM?? Some days ago I tried to access www.scramm.org (http://www.scramm.org), but it's completely down! I was searching around and couldn't find anything new about it. Couldn't know wether it's dead or not, too....  [Read More]

Well, that's right, the Amiga versions use that exotic audio format (TFMX). There's a way to extract the songs from the data files. I don't know if Amiga data files are XORed or not (as the PC versions do). If they aren't XORed, you can just use one...  [Read More]

Well, I think an intermediate solution can be achieved: just pick the best concepts around every language and mix them with some new ingredients. Make it a procedural language, like C/C++/Java/others and add some SCUMMish semantics. You can try to su...  [Read More]
