*cough* I wonder how long it will take until people start asking for nude models.

Still, you do have nice texturing on the latest W.I.P. picture and I commend you for the censors. ;)

I must say I really like the essential guide to characters pic, it seems to bear a striking resemblance to Jolene Blalock. I'm glad you've got a bit of that look going in your model, but it would be pretty cool if you could include the flatter hair style of the scan as a surface. The poofy one is ok, it just makes her look kind of like a porn star, or even worse, Rebecca from "Full House."

Wow, great work on the model. And I wouldn't mind seeing a version of the model which has as "much" clothes as the recent WIP picture :p

LOL

It would be much better than the current model type that's out, if ya know what I mean. :)

But seriously, will the face and/or hair of the model with the hair pulled back look very different? The only reason I ask is because the way the hair is pulled back resembols Jan too much.

Is it just me or does she look like Gina Gershon in that pic?

[newbie chant] ED!! please don't abandon her! its such a great model [\newbie chant]

sorry, I just would love to see this model released. I dont like begging people to update everyday, but you are doing such a great job on her. I hope the lack of updates are because you are working so hard on her. good luck cant wait to play as mara once again.

Yeah you defiently have to release this model. I haven't seen any Mara Jades as good as this, heck I haven't really seen any. I've played Masters of Teras Kasi, MotS, and read everybook that has had Mara in it so she is basically like a main character to me. I'm sure this would most likely be the most popular file ok jediknightii.net, climbing the charts faster than that Jar Jar Model(hmm, everyone hates Jar Jar, yet it is the most popular file, everyone likes Mara, oh the possibilites!) Hey if this goes good perhaps you'd do a decent Leia. Oh btw, you shjould create a model of the BlastTech DL-44 pistol( I saw it in the models holster) that we can actually use in game cause that would rock.

I've been slowely working on her. The thing is I work for a games company and work on characters everyday, so it's hard to go home and do the same thing when you're exhausted from doing it at work. So I'm gonna spend a few hours on her at weekends.

The other issue is that I have to get permission to work on her and release her. When you work in the games industry, they technically own everything you do outside of work. Even if it's for personal, non-comercial use you need written permission to gain ownership over it. In this case not just models but maps, mods even coding etc.

I guess the companys that write this in their contract are just being cautious. My boss is quite easy going on it as long as you can explain how your work can't inflict the business in any way. After all you are part of the company.

On to Mara, I've updated the WIP page with a face. It's my interpretation of how the MOTS Mara would look and fit with Heidi Shannon's voice.

I love the new face with all the new detail! There is only one thing that I can see that needs to be fixed, and that is the neck. The neck seems to be a little too long. Besides that, it's perfect!

Ok this model is gonna be really great, can't wait to see it all done. Dang, all that red tape stuff with your job has gotta suck. Well, can't wait for the model, and what kinda colors will you be using for the skin? Same ones as with MotS(Purple jacket with orange highlights, tan shirt and pants)?

Hey all.

BTW, Mara is looking GREAT!!

I saw a few of you were mentioning making a hair (or "other" body parts ;) that move and flow. Too bad that tutorial isn't going to happen.

I'm working on the Journey into the Dark mod for JK2 (a mod set in something like Tolkien's Silmarillion)

Here's an elven archer JackNeil is doing:
http://jitd.rtcwfiles.com/shots/Elvarch1.jpg)

And here's a link to the elf I'm working on; she'll probably have a staff/spear and maybe a shortsword.
http://www.geocities.com/headkingpin/)

This is my first model - just got GMax in June, and now that I'm nearly done the modelling part, I have to do the bones, weighting, etc (ALL new to me).

I would REALLY LIKE to weight her hair like Lara Croft's pony-tail from TombRaider, but don't know how. Tim "SpaceMonkey" Appleby (of Aurra Sing, and Aayla fame) is also on the team, but he's sometimes hard to get a hold of. He used the arms/back/neck to weight the Lekku for Aayla, but I'm looking for something even MORE outstanding. Any ideas? Or links to tutorials? Thanks.

How exactly did you get that much detail into the model? It must have a pretty high polycount.

Lol. . .. well. I guess I could have made a new thread, but I think it probably would have just gotten lost in the fray. I wanted the expertise of people already faced with the "weighting-hair" problem.

Call it what you will ;) but does anyone have any ideas about weighting the hair?

(BTW, I always save the polycount as part of the name; this one has 2262 polys now.)

Dude, is it just me or is Mara skinned in greyscale?

if so, why?

lookin' great however!
 Reb Starblazer

Actually, it's not skinned in greyscale. It's not skinned at all yet. That's what's truly amazing. This is going to be one awesome model when it's finished and skinned, good enough to do Mrs. Jade Skywalker justice.
And looking at that last pic(Marasface) it seems as her neck is almost too long. I know that it was too short before, but perhaps shorten it just the teeniest, tiniest bit. Maybe remove just 1/10th or so of the neck, and I think it will look perfect in my opinion. Mara isn't a very tall woman, she's even shorter than Luke, so I don't think she would have a very long neck. But my perception may be different than everyone elses. It's just my opinion, so do with it what you deem necessary.

Well if you can scale, which you really can't in MP models, Mara is 5feet 3 inches tall. Well thought I'd give you that info if it could help you.
 EmperorJello
07-19-2002, 6:54 AM

Kyle: 1.8 m
Luke: 1.72 m
Mara: 1.6 m

BTW, you CAN scale models. You use Dest's Jedimod mod.

Oh, you set Mara to 0.88 with JediMod, in case you didn't know.

Wow, that face looks astoundingly real. I am wanting this model more and more :D
I do hope you include a surfce with her hair down with the flatter look. Even if you hate how it looks, I still want to make a skin of that new essential guide to characters pic some day(not that you have to model new hair just because I say so or anything).

i'm pretty damn sure thats textured in grayscale....if not that would be several thousand polys more than our systems could handle.
