Does anybody know the maximum amount of polygons for a player model and for a weapon?
Weapons max should be around 500 for max LOD.
storm trooper models first lod is a little over 2600 polys, I think kyle is closer to 3000 for first lod

SoF2's weapons are around 5000 polys, so I think JO can handle a little more than 500..
I thought sof2 had 1500 for weapons, and 3000 for character.
I was already wondering about those 5000 polygons in a weapon.
In Q3, the important part is the total file size including textures, although I don't know what the size limit is, or if it applies here.
I suggest to try to keep it 2-3 thousand..

dont be ridiculous, the maxim lod for a player character should be 2.5k . This game is using a suped up quake 3 engine (for which the max Lod was 1k). A model shouldnt need to be any higher than that and a weapon model should definately be donw near 500 imo. Otherwise people who down own high end machines wont be able to run the game using custom characters/weapons. Can you imagine 16 3k players on screen all using 5k poly weapons? and then theres the maps to be considered... :jawa

sirbakk I'd say at a push 3k is acceptable but you should really try to reduce it bellow that.
