is there way to change where you start in tsl so you don't have to start in the same place when you start a new game?

You can start in a custom module by renaming it to the same as the starting module and deletiing the old one. If you want to change starting position in module then there is a tut for it.

Well, If you want to keep the old game without deleting content the easiest way will be to open the dialog at the beginning (m01aa_c01.dlg) and insert a script that will warp the PC to another module/waypoint/other coordinates.

Well, it would have a different name. I don't know it, though. I looked through the first module and I couldn't find it.
