Hello

As you can see i'm new on this forum. A new member that is because I have been browsing this forum quite some time now.

I have been modding (lightly) some things now and I want to do some bigger things.
I have searched the forum her for the information i seek but can't find direct answers or tutorials. So my highest apoligies if the answers of my questions are already posted somewhere.

1ste question,
I want to make Juhani and Krei into a PC head. I have seen a quick tutorial on how to do it but when I use that there is NO juhani head and krei's head is cut of from where her robe usualy is over her head.
This is what I did, I edited the Heads.2da file. Copyed juhani's and krei's line and pasted it over a PC female head line. saved, placed in override.
Any help on how I can do this best...

2e question,
Is it posible to make the PC sorta like Visas. And i mean with that in 3th person normal vieuw but in 1st person the force vision vieuw.
How should I do this if this is posible?

3th question,
I Have 3ds max (and some experience, I meshed some products for IMVU chat site) and I want the mesh some new sabers and maybe a head. I read that I need a program to import the .mdl files into 3ds and from there on I can edit/change/build. Is this correct? and if this is the way, after i'm done with it how do I export it and get it in the game?


Again my apoligies if there are already threads with this information or tutorials, I have searched but found nothing (could be me though)

1) Juhani's head & models were taken out of TSL resources. So, it's semi-impossible to make Juhani as a Playable Character. (The exception being that you reskin another head to look like her.) And, Kreia uses a full-body model. But, it is possible to make her a PC, despite the one bug that comes at making a full-body model as a PC. Here's a quote from a couple of comments from my Revan as PC mod that gives the reason I used the negative connotation concerning Kreia being a full-body model:

that crash only happened when i selected "Revan" in the class selection step. it didnt happen when i chose a normal body and then chose revan's face.
That's actually what happens when you use a one piece model instead of a head model in the character selection menu. That was a warning AVol gave when he released his Darth Vader mod.

3) I'm not sure best how to answer/explain this, having just began in the realm of modeling myself.

So to get juhani (or jolee) into tsl as PC would be as much as impossible? What if I would import the models into 3ds and export them for tsl? would that work?

*looked at the link* how could i have missed that o_0

Also I want kreia's head only. so I could wear Jedi robes/armors/etc. with her head. The model exist because there is a mod where she takes of the hood every time you talk to her. so.. hmmm... how could it be done......

I think I can help with that question.

The little extra plugin you need for 3D Max is NWmax, it helps you import K1 and TSL models and it has some extra buttons to makey your meshes good for the game.

Though you'll also need MDLops, because TSL models are in a Binary format, MDLops compiles this to ASCII, which then gets used to import.

Ofcourse it works the other way around aswell, when you export stuff out of Max, usign NWmax its still in ASCII. MDLops turn this to Binary format.


And ofcourse you'll also need KT ( Kotor Tool) to get to all the models.

That would be considered porting, which is illegal. It shouldn't be spoken about on these forums. ;)

oh sorry, didn't know it was porting. (i must confess that i don't really know why it would be illegal)

@ Quanon. Thanks for the help, I have 3ds max 8, so i need NWMAX for 8? I have already been searching for that one but haven't found it yet.

The tutorials will definitely help :) i already got kotor tool and i believe i got mdlops. need to check that.

Also i have been trying to edit the apearence of a NPC (nihilus) to make it for example into Master Kavar, but no suces. any tutorials on that? or help?
I edited nihilus .utc file but it didn't work.

Use nwmax version 7 for 3ds max 8. Nwmax 8 has extra sanity checks that often cause problems while exporting. Body editing is more involved then weapons, there are specific steps you must fallow. Same with heads if you can find Taina's replacer to compile the heads with.

thank you all for the help.

Fortunately I have been busy the last days so haven't been able to work with it yet. Hopefully the next few days I will have some more time.

I have downed a version 7 of nwmax. I need to install that into the 3ds max 8 map right?

I have been looking for Taina's replacer, but can't seem to find it anywhere. Can someone here hook me up with one??

And also the question remains,
How to change a npc (for example, nihilus, master vrook, jana lorso, etc.) apierence?

okay

so i got it working that i can import .mdl files into my 3ds :) i got a qiuck go at a blaster. click the link to see what crappy rifle i made out of it :) :) :) :) lol

anyway, now that i got that working i'm gonna get it a go at some heads or robes maybe :)
or maybe make a rifle and hilt first :) (got some cool idea's :) )

Remember that with the heads you can only move verts around.
Though I remember Settokon and SithSpecter found a way to add in extra meshes and make the head still work in the game.

Saddly they've not made a tutorial on it yet with what steps you need to follow.
You could try and PM them about it.

Robes and bodys I'm not certain whats possible, IIRC there is a Tutorial somewhere by Vosh. Though I'm not certain...


Just know this is "wonky" trial and error stuff, be prepared to do it 10 times over to get a good result.

Back when i was meshing for IMVU I knew a way to make items (hairs, hats, glasses, etc.) for a head and add it to the head and make it work in the chat room.
Im not sure if it would work for tsl of course.

Oh and believe me I know all about the process of doing things 10X over and over again before you can get something to work. lol
I once made a simple alien avatar and it already took me like 12 times before i successfully exported it to the imvutool program just because the programs didn't wanna work with me. extremely frustrating.

The gun (shown in the link) was just some try out thing i made in less then 2 minutes. just for fun. I also pulled the hair from azkul into a Mohawk mowhahahahaa looked funny like hell. and can you imagine how bastila would look with a shaved head, mwoahahahhahaa yeah I entertained myself :) :) :)

For now i'm just trying things out untill I understand the process a bit more, and then i'm gonna start making some mods.

And for those who wonder that is not the head from Carth but his son Dustil. I give him the same bangs his daddy got, just a bit longer. And i made his hair a bit longer and less blocky. The eye thingy is just something something.

I just thought it looked funny :p wanna share it with you guys ;)
