Okay.

How the HELL did I not start listening to Jeff Buckley sooner? I've known about him since I was in the 4th or 5th grade and I'm just now discovering how epic his music is?

This is a problem.

Either way, Jeff Buckley is a VERY VERY VERY good thing.

Not even kidding. That's some crazy omen right there.

As for the cover, that's pretty good. Unfortunately it doesn't boast the angelic voice that makes Jeff Buckley so god-awesome for me, but it's still pretty sweet.

Coheed & Cambria - Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume Two: No World for Tomorrow - $10 at Target

For as much as I love Coheed & Cambria, I never actually bought any of their cds. I'm looking to rectify that, but unfortunately Target only had No World For Tomorrow.

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51WXWpyyQnL._SS500_.jpg)

steelseries Wrath of the Lich King Mousepad - $15 at Gamestop.

Say what you will, but I needed a mouse pad, and I like Arthas. It's also actually pretty nice.

Rock Band AC/DC Live Track Pack - $40 at Wal-Mart.

Unlike what I thought, it's actually it's own stand alone game. It's basically Rock Bands version of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. Pretty good, but I still wish they would have released it as DLC instead.

Drawing on a combination of boredom and an ADD moment, I decided to check up on the status of the Amory Wars comics, the literal form of the story told through Coheed and Cambrias four CDs. Last I checked, they were on hiatus after issue #4. After randomly checking, I found out they released issue #10, the last of the story told by their first cd "The Second Stage Turbine Blade" on October 22nd, and that they had made a compilation of the first five issues that are sold at Hot Topic stores. As much as it pained me to step inside that horrid store of fail, I ventured to one and snagged a copy of the first 5 issues.

http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/3294/462924hiip9.jpg)

I just finished reading the whole thing, and not only is it actually good on it's own, it's shining a new perspective on their first cd for me.

It really is a nerdgasm for me :x

Now I gotta track down the second volume...

EDIT: After finally tracking down the 5th issue of the second volume, I ordered them all online. Hopefully they'll all be here friday :)

Acer 24" 1080P Monitor w/Dual HDMI inputs (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009154)

Me + Credit Card + Early Black Friday Sales = Bad Combination >:3

See, here's my setup. Right now I have my computer hooked up to 2 Compaq 17" CRT monitors at 2560x1024 dualview resolution. However, I also have my 360 which I unplug a monitor from the computer and use it with it at 1280x1024 resolution. This is nice, but a huge pain, seeing as every time I want to play 360, I have to unplug the monitor from the computer, and plug it into the 360's VGA wire, then when done replug it back into the computer.

This monitor has 2 HDMI inputs, meaning that I will be able to hook my 360 up to it via HDMI (at full 1080P) and then hook up my computer to it via a DVI->HDMI cable, and switch between the two inputs at my leisure.

Only thing that sucks, is that Neweggs normally extremely fast shipping (ordered headphones from them sunday night, arrived tuesday afternoon a day early) is being hindered by the holiday weekend.

I want it now ;_;

EDIT: I also plan on getting a TV Tunder Card soon and pop it into my computer, so I can watch TV on it also :D

So this holiday, I am hosting new years eve at my place. We are not big drinkers in my family but we like to play games. Last year we just watched T.V. at my parents house---boring! When ever I have parties at my place, I like to make grand use of my video game consoles to fund the entertainment. I been playing a lot of Rock Band 2 the last couple of nights. I like to do vocals. My brother in law, can't sing, but I did hear that he likes to play Rock Band drums at a friend's house. Now I bought a used guitar several months ago, even though I rarely use it. The only thing I lacked was drums...aka the most expensive item in the full set. At first decided to get the portable drum set from Mad Catz, so we could have a complete rock band, and then it occurred to me that I have no furniture to sit the make shift drum set on! I had my eye on the wireless drum set for some time, only because it looks spiffy. Even though wireless 360 Rock Band 2 drum sets are back ordered in my company, my neighbor store had one left. So I returned the portable set, traded in a few games, and had enough to pay for the wireless drum kit, and a couple of symbol expansions. I have only messed with it briefly, but it is fun. It is actually something I would not mind practicing at. And I have to admit, it looks kinda sexy in my living room!

VERY GOOD THING: Coworker of mine was at Fry's this morning, and bought an all in one laser printer for 80 bucks that was usually 250. Why is this a good thing? It's for work, where we're using 1 old HP ink printer, a slightly newer HP all in one in printer, and 2 of these beasts:

Yes, those are the printers we use at work. Cause my uncle uses retarded logic. So Monday morning we get to get rid of all the printers, and put just the one printer in to do everything. I am more overjoyed than you have any idea.

What happened to that pseudo-Rush epic you were writing a few years ago? The last thing I remember about that was me mocking that it was going to be 10 minutes of G-C-D ad nauseum.

Yeah, I switched from guitar to bass last year because of a lack of (good) bassists around here, and I knew I was nowhere as good as the guitarists I played with.

I love James LaBrie, he had an amazing vocal range. Sometime his vocals can be annoying, but I think without his singing and without the lyrics, dream theater would just be another band. If you love Dream Theater's instrumentation, check out "Liquid Tension Experiment"... its basically everyone from Dream Theater minus LaBrie and Myung (the silent deadly asian dude :p) jamming and improving with the bassist from King Crimson. They put out two albums, wicked good stuff.

And I finished writing the epic, as well as a few concept albums and over 230 songs. ;) Theres music for a few of them, but most of them are just lyrics and ideas in my head right now. :p Its hard to find people who are serious about writing songs, most just wanna jam, which is fine, but its not getting my songs anywhere.

And no, I can't compose music myself since my guitar skills would be limited to something like a GCD progression and its extremely hard to write a song on bass. :p

Oh, also, me and my friends are learning La Villa Strangiato (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7jVoXx9AmM)... = very good thing

Another good thing, I got a 1890 on my SATS and finished all my college applications last week. Now we play the waiting game.

You could be a rhythm guitarist, which has the added benefit of helping immensely with song writing.

I'm stupid when writing songs. I just harp on a few different ones I have until they're completed. Sure, Albert Einstein more or less followed the same approach in regards to physics, but it's not something you can easily brag about.

Pwned! 1920 here. That extra 30 points is a stark reminder that we're all smarter here in the west.

I write all of my songs in a matter of minutes. Its gotten to the point that I don't even think about what I'm writing, the pen just flows and 5-10 minutes later I have a completed song written down in front of me. Sometimes its hard to find inspiration, but once I start a song its really easy for me to finish. And I hardly go back and change lyrics later, I like to keep it the way I left it.

Bass is just easier for me to do than guitar. I would hardly associate Geddy's basslines with shredding. First off, I have a lot of difficulty on forming chords (I always had, even when I played guitar), and since bass chords occur much less frequently, its a lot easier for me. I find bass funner to play too (If its something interesting, that is... none of this AC/DC bull****. :p). Although I was just talking to my friend the other day about trying to learn chords so I can atleast attempt composing music. I've been trying to learn some music theory, but since I only took guitar lessons for like 2 weeks and never took bass lessons, its hard for me to keep up with inadequate online websites attempting to teach.

AND DAMN YOU! :p I bet I beat you on the writing section though. :p I suck at math anyways, so I dont plan on forming a career around it.

It's probably not the best idea to write lyrics without music, though - it's gonna be a bitch fitting them to a song later on. I usually just write the music first, hum a melody over it, and then try to get some lyrics in place.

Bass is just easier for me to do than guitar. I would hardly associate Geddy's basslines with shredding. First off, I have a lot of difficulty on forming chords (I always had, even when I played guitar), and since bass chords occur much less frequently, its a lot easier for me. Granted, you're likely not going to know how to sweep arpeggios while playing bass, but I still maintain that being good at bass means you're at least proficient with playing single notes on guitar. That being said, though, the chord thing might hamper you down a bit. :p

For learning music theory, I suggest taking an actual class for it. Not only will you get a better grasp of how to make songs, but you'll be able to show off mad sheet music reading skills.

That's uh, what the girls like, right?

AND DAMN YOU! :p I bet I beat you on the writing section though. :p I suck at math anyways, so I dont plan on forming a career around it.

I hate the writing sections for these tests because the 25 minute time limit caters specifically to people who let the pen automatically flow. See, I'm more of a thinker - and by the time I have the entire essay planned out, I only have five minutes left. It's a great approach for AP tests, sure, but sucks when they make you bull**** quickies.

I'm just lucky I did excellent on the critical reading with a 740. Bit of a shame, since I rarely have the attention span to read books. :p

(And I took the ACT too...I got a 29, which turns out to be exactly 1920 according to the conversion charts. :()
