http://alienjl.homestead.com/files/SabreS.jpg) (http://alienjl.homestead.com/files/Sabre.jpg)

http://alienjl.homestead.com/files/SFX_Sabers.zip)

That ZIP contains little PK3 file which you can use to test what
those sabers look like (+ it contains shader file and images you
may need if you want to use those sabers in your mod...)

And there are TXT file which should help you to make the code
changes in to your mod if your intrested... (Note. If you try be
sure that you backup your old files first... my code may be bit
crazy...)

Soo... You are free to use anything in that zip... Use as they
are or develope futher... ( I hope you do :) )

Wow this is probably the greatest saber FX I've seen, its the only fx mod that actually did the trails right! Thx for this FX mod, I might use it in a mod if I ever learn how to mod :p

Making these saber effects wasn't one day project... I hope it
wasn't all for nothing... (If someone who is developing those
little biger mods that are actually used on the servers would
take my sabers and maybe develope futher would be nice...)

Have you thought of submitting it to the OJP? It would have a good chance of being in many high quality mods, as well as the Basic and Enhanced distributions, if it is good enough.

Totally sweet, like the JK2 version. However I prefer my saberblades to be a little more sharp, so I made a slight modification.

Original version (http://www.xs4all.nl/~kalel/pics/Jedi%20Academy/SFX01.jpg)

Here i changed the saber blade and disabled the saber_edge shader. It's less obvious after jpeg compression, but it does look more aliased ingame.

Nice job AJL.

The code is understandable and well laid out in that text file.

I think the saber_edge shader is what makes these really look cool - they actually arc through a swing like they should. You won't see flat edges on arcs in the movies - the saber_edge effect finally gives the sabers those movie arcs.

Yeah, you're right. I already changed that. The arc does look a lot better. I just didnt' like the way it lined up in AJL's version. There were some gaps between the shaders. But that's just nitpicking, the code works just fine.

You think I should? I wasn't planning on it. I kind like the way AJL put his stuff out for anyone to use in their own mods. So if you want to use it, i'll post a link here, but I'm not gonna make an official release.

Any change of AJL fixing the issue with the saber glow looking a bit static and grainy (while the blade isn't moving)?

If that is fixed, I'd love to add it to OJP.

I could try messing with the shaders a bit to clean it up, but I can't tell what shader he is using from the code. Any code other than a simple IF THEN ELSE statement is too complex for me ;).

Just from looking at it, it looks like he's just using the standard JA setup, but slightly changed. So I don't know if editing the shader will be enough.

Well, good luck. :) I don't have the time to work with you to help with this now, but I can probably help with this in a week or so.
