In case you haven't been tuned into the Dark Forces Mod Forum, my Kyle model is basically done now. It's an interpretation of Kyle from the original Dark Forces video game, and I think it turned out well. I might do a minor texture touch up or two, but that's about it.

I've decided since that there is already a 'Dark Forces Kyle" out there, I'll call my model "Mercenary Kyle". Just a name change for the file's public release....

Here's a couple of screens...

Cutscene Shots, 2 from Valley of the Jedi, 1 from Yavin before Desann. (http://wat.midco.net/eggnog1/ib-merc_kyle-cutscenes.jpg)

Regular Shots, Front and Back of default skin, Red and Blue team skins. (http://wat.midco.net/eggnog1/ib-merc_kyle-game.jpg)

I should be releasing it really soon, and thought I'd at least out the info out for those who might be interested.

It also sounds like there might be an update to the Dark Forces Mod Demo with this as well. If you're interested in the Dark Forces mod, check out it's forums, and the website once it's back up!

Well...not INSTANTLY. :p
Stuff gets posted fast. :) Same with www.massassi.net) ... Jk2files.com is just plain SLOW lately.

Well, I'll probably submit it to a bunch of sites....

Anyway, I'm not worried about it just yet... I still have to slightly tweak one texture, pack it up, then write the readme....

I planned on it having an SP addition from the very beginning. I figure that if any model I make I'd like to play SP, I'll create a version for it.

The file I'll submit will have two pk3's included: One with the textures, multiplayer stuff, etc... Then one with the SP replacement.

To keep the size down, the SP replacement just points to the multiplayer version for all the texture data, so both pk3's need to be in the base folder at the same time for it to work. When you only want the multiplayer model, you just remove the SP pk3.

I've also included a first person lightsaber skin file and the fading arms texture...

so will it take the place of normal kyle in multiplayer if you use the sp replacement?

Yes.... There is a way I know of around that, but it has a couple drawbacks....

I can use the Npcs.cfg to point to the folder that contains my new model, but not only will that override any custom npcs.cfg that a person might already have, I also had a rather odd effect with some of the cutscene animations.

http://wat.midco.net/eggnog1/npcs-kylefolder.gif)

I figured that this method is best for now, and I don't think anyone would mind. All you have to do to turn it off is move/delete the sp replacement pk3 out of the base folder, and leave the regular pk3 there.

Well, JKII.net I'm not even sure would post my files anyway, as they've deleted all the other submissions I've ever sent them that used to be on their file server... I even tried to resubmit them, and they never were made available....

Jedi-outcast.com is run by people I used to talk to and play a little JK with... I'm not sure what they do for file submissions... They might take a look at it soon, they might not. I'm pretty sure they'll at least take a peek.

JK2files.com is the best bet for file submissions. They tend to keep it up to date, and have the largest selection I've seen so far.

...

I suppose I'll upload it to http://www.pcgamemods.com) too, just to make you happy... ;)

I'd rather not do that....

Despite the fact that my free hosting service has steadily become more annoying.. (More pop-ups, seemingly less bandwidth), I still like to keep my small site up.

Until I can afford something better, my bandwidth is pretty limited. If I were to make it available... my short-term bandwidth limit would be hit in a matter of minutes, shutting down my site for several hours... almost half a day.

Thanks, Tripod....

I'll update the post above where I have listing the download sites, as the model is made available there. And so you know, he is now available from jedi-outcast.com and massassi.net, as listed in the post above.

I hope you enjoy it, and I also hope he lives up to any expectations you might have.

Thanks, I'm glad ya like it!

The only bad thing about it being available only at massassi and jedi-outcast.com, is that I can't tell how many have downloaded it. I'm just curious to see generally how many people are interested in the model....

Anyway, shouldn't be too long before it's on jk2files.
