Obviously for these simple amino acids to go anywhere also requires the right type of enviromnent and enough time. The exact chance of this happening is not known, since we don't have enough demographic from other planets. With the exception of the p...  [Read More]

The moon is called Europa. :D ABE: Here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europa_(moon)) is the wiki if you'd like to read more about it. Also, the process that you're describing (as originally describe in the BBC documentary, I'm assuming) is abiogene...  [Read More]

1) How do you define "Life" for the purpose of this thread. Do you consider simple Amino Acids to be Life's Origin, or Complex ones, or Viruses? Obviously a Single Cell would be considered to be Life, how about Mitocondrea(sp?) that contain...  [Read More]

It is an unfortunately reality that many people consider the scientific theory of evolution to be a life origins topic. The reality is that the theory of evolution makes no claims regarding life origins. The theory states that all life sprung forth f...  [Read More]

If I had to make a guess, I'd say that Family A will probably be spending more within their means (>$12000 in goods, probably much more). Meanwhile Family D will also make cutbacks on their spending so that the savings% will be closer among the di...  [Read More]

If there's no sales tax on food and utilities it'd be a little more fair, but I just don't know at this point. Those tax cuts will go to the rich too. This might change the numbers a little but the distribution of tax burden stays the same....  [Read More]

Would replacing income, estate, and capital gains taxes with a national sales tax be viable or not? If viable, would it be desirable to do so? I haven't read the site, so I'm taking this question at face value. If all taxes came from sales, where is...  [Read More]

I do believe in Micro evolution and natural selection. The quick tour looks something like this (I'll take liberties with some of the factors to make this less than 50,000 words, but not with the process itself). All present life shares a common anc...  [Read More]

I don't know if He made it in its present form or not, though I fall into the 'guided evolution/progressive creation' camp and think that He utilized the scientific laws He created--I don't see God and evolution as incompatible. So then there's no qu...  [Read More]

Impossible odds are still impossible odds. Is this an evolution thread or a creationism vs. abiogenesis thread? Last time I checked they were separate subjects. The evidence of evolution is overwhelming. If you would like to discuss life origins, I'd...  [Read More]

The purpose of sexual reproduction is to allow for the maximum amount of variation in the gene pool. Monogamy runs counter to that. Mammals tend not to be monogamous, though there are a few examples of monogamy amongst primates. Our fragile evolution...  [Read More]

Lightspeed blows my mind. The stars that we see are not the stars of the present tense, but the stars from the past, their light just now arriving. The sun that we see is the sun from 8 minutes ago. Even the person in the same room as you is not the...  [Read More]

This is a continuation of a conversation found in this this (http://lucasforums.com/showthread.php?p=2356232) thread. How so? I could say the same about faith vs. reason. Reason may win, but that doesn't make it right. It just means that the fight i...  [Read More]
