Ya, i've been in The Associates for about a week now...I was wondering if there was anything expected of me before the release of the game. Sure i'd like to get to know some of you better, but my RL gets in the way alot. Anyway, is there anything I'm required to do to stay in The Associates?

Okay, here's the deal. Yes, you are new in town. Most people here has known each other for a while. Some, even a year or two. So, get a used to be 'the new kid in class' for a while. Hey! Calm down, it wasn't meant like an insult, just advise: listen well to what the other members says. And now and then, say something thoughtful yourself. Or something that makes us laugh. And suddenly, it'll be like you were along all the way. Now, can you handle that blaster by your side, or should I look for someone else to join me for my weekly recon to the western woods?
(yes, I'll try to do a bit more RP (a bit more? Ok. I'll try to do some RP) from now on, since the release is not that far away, and we'll play on a RP server. You're free to join me if you like it and find it useful for figuring out your character, or you can just avoid me like a plague. ;) And the last thing was about if you'll join the armed forces or not, the =A='s combatant wing.)

Heh, about the RP-thing. I keep saying to myself and others that I'll be RP'ing my character. But uhhhmm, I don't have any RP'ing experience! :D Those first few weeks of gaming will be hard 4 me.
Zendjir: quick hints: think of yourself speeking through your vision of you character. See in your mind a picture of him/her opening and closing his/her mouth, instead of yourself. And try, try, to lose the numbers in your speak. Keep your language appropriate to the situation: think of yourself. Do you speak and act exactly the same way at work/in school as when you are with only your parents? Or with your friends in a bar? Or if you are shopping? Propably not. And neither does your character. These are little hints, but it's all about making your character as believable as possibly. And that requires a bit of training, and concentration, not starting to talk about Superbowl when you are mining durasteel alloys.
One thing that really, REALLY helps, is if you know your character. That's the beginning and end of roleplaying. The rest is just making it flashier. Good luck! And if you have troubles, just gimme a shout, and I'll give you some pointers. :)
Or, just be yourself, but as you would be in Star Wars. That means, no talk about earth stuff like fast Corvettes and such ... unless you're referring to Corellian once. :D

Rules? We don't have many rules yet. I'm Varan Gaagii, and Wraith and I are the leaders, so if we do make any commands you'll need to follow those. Also, as was said if you're a warrior you'll be under Setsuko's command. I myself am the head bounty hunter, so if you follow that path you'll be under my command. No matter what path you choose, however, you, and everyone else, are under Wraith and my own authority. Once we reach release there will be rules made in order to keep the group in order, but for now just stay active and you'll do fine. Don't, and no one will trust you. We've got a good group here, but alot of what we have runs on trust. If you can't be trusted, well, you're likely to not get as many benefits. While you're in the buying mood, why not buy me a round and start our relationship on a good foot, eh? Thanks. Oh, and welcome.

Varan drains his mug then picks up his combat belt from the booth. It has two D-44 blasters, several spare clips a few grenades and a vibroblade. He also straps his vibrosword on his back, then pulls on his cloak over all this. He lifts up his rifle, swings it over his shoulder, and walks out of the bar.
Thew gets up, checks the powercell in his S-5, and makes sure the two blasters under his shoulders are in place. Then he pulls on his long brown coat and grabs his rifle with one hand. He starts to head out of the bar.

*Corzip returns from the Gun shop with a bag full of Thermal detonators. He walked up to Setsuko*

This should do, better to save the rest for a rainy day. So, everyone seems pretty tooled up, so no need for a trip to ye olde armoury. Ok, here's the plan. Simple recon, though we'll bring little daisy here *strokes the dewback, braaaah!*. Zendjir, keep a look out. Bad weather and pirates are reported. And keep your eyes peeled for that miner, those guys can even find trouble in a chocolate gnort shop. I'll provide cover if we get attacked, but I expect each of you to be able to handle yourself in a fight. Considering the toys you are bringing, this shouldn't be a problem.
Oh, and yes, I have dibs for the dewback on the way home!

Well, last time i went on a smuggling mission, i hacked into a security network of the imperials. I was able to hear all their com traffic in the area. it might come in handy.
True, some nosy imps might be one of the things we are not interested in meeting, considering our armament and our dewback. Seriously, when I saw that look on Black Rose's face, you know that "I've done something I shouldn't done, though at least I got a dewback out of it" face... makes me wonder if there's not a big "PROPERTY OF THE EMPERIAL ARMY" mark somewhere on it. Geez, what a rubble we are, ey?

/OOC: As I said, it's mostly about getting to know your character. Once you do, RPing is a breeze. Now, it might not be so easy to figure out your character in the beginning. Hell knows, I'm far from figuring out mine. But just like real people, you'll learn more every time you hang out with them, and after some time, they'll be almost as real as any person out there. And the more interesting a character you make, the more interesting it will be for you to hang out with!

Let me put what I just wrote into context, so I don't seem like such a hippie: most of my best friends, I can guess what they will do in most situations, and even what words they'll use seconds before they say them, simply becauses I know them so well. When you know a character that well too, you won't have to stop and try to figure out what he/she/it should do to stay in character; you'll know it by instinct. And since the character is a projection of your imagination, it's a bit easier! ;)
