Ok... I know what you are thinking... "don't start..."
But does anyone of you actually got it or seen it or something?
I mean the ISO file without audio is pretty known. And the zip file with the wav files in awfull quality is also known.
But a real copy/original? Anyone?
What was in the box?
Someone?
One?
Hrm...
and the last peep peep ;)
I take it this was removed by a mod? Nads. Someone e-mail me with info, quick!
Nope :)
Casa suggested to "peep", I first didn't see a good reason for it, but after that I've decided to follow his example.
Just for case.
I think this thread may be closed now...
For those of you who are verry verry excited now:
No! We dont exchange the Zak FM-Towns ISO now and you can't have it! :)
Really! Nobody seems to have it! But this thread should stay open for the possibility that someone actually has the FM-Towns ISO.
And Zak256 is of course totally playable under ScummVM. But none of have the ISO, so don't ask. :P
Seriously, in my next communique with LEC Legal I'll ask if they can re-release this. But I suspect, as with LoomCD, they didn't retain the rights to it.
LOL!
Zak McKracken doesn't belong LucasArts as Loom CD-Rom doesn't. There is no way that they will rerelease it!
Would be great though..
Can't belive nobody has it... wouldn't even mention Indy3 or Loom for FM-Towns wich unfortunately (?) DO exist... ; (
BTW:
Put a gun on their chest and look em deep in the eyes and then ask em if there really was a version of Rescue on Fractalus! and Ballblazer for IBM-PC or if they just made it up to drive me crazy...
They made it up. Both of them existed only on C64 and Atari 5200 and 7800.
What the hell is 'FM - Towns'?

I dunno, but it's Zak Mckracken with 256 colours. And I need it.
interesting. and loom was done that way too? cause i own the 256 clrs version with talkie. Except it doesnt show all the close ups in my version. Does this FM version show those closeups tho?
I know this is gonna open up a whole FLOOD of replies, but there is appearantly a FM-Towns Monkey Island 1 too.
The FM-Towns was an old japanese console as far as I know.
I THINK it was also called the pc-engine which you have probably heard of but then again im probably wrong.
I think FM Towns is a standalone system, if this site (
http://www.jcec.co.uk/) is correct. From what I can tell, only Zak and (maybe) Loom was made for it.
PC Engine=Turbografx-16, the mecca of hardcore old school gaming.
This is the original (yep, Japanese) FM Towns machine. Very much like a PC, games had to be installed...
http://www.gamechoice.com.hk/fmtowns_system.gif)
..but with the FM Towns II (Also known as the FM Towns Marty) you didn't need to install games...so I guess it was more like a console:
http://www.gamechoice.com.hk/fm_marty_2_sys.gif)
The games came on CDs.
So you have a choice of either buying a Japanese Computer or a Japanese System to play the Zak Mckracken FM TOWNS game (or any other FM TOWNS game) The games and consoles are also very hard to find and very expensive. About $500 for the console at
http://www.gamechoice.com.hk)
http://www.mobygames.com/game/covers/gameId,305/gameCoverId,6224/) to see the Zak McRacken FM Towns Japanese Box Art :D
That's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
and i was just about to ask where your new avatar was from! ;)
Surely the Japanese Ebay will have some of these FM towns games. Isn't there a way to emulate them on PC if they're on CD? It wouldn't be illegal I think, as long as you bought the game.
There may (
http://www.jcec.co.uk/) be a way of finding an emulator and the rom somewhere. You really should own the original game though.
I know this is gonna open up a whole FLOOD of replies, but there is appearantly a FM-Towns Monkey Island 1 too.
I ****ing hate you! You just killed my last bit of life...
Zak McKracken: Ohmygod!!! Interesting
Indiana Jones 3: Not again FM-Towns!
Loom: Nooooooo!
Monkey1: Arrghhhh.....
Now I will never sleep again! Never!
Buhuuuhuuuuu....
:crybaby:
I'd like to see proof of any FM Towns game besides Zak.

Proof? Well... can't. But on the Zak FM-Towns CD were demos of Indy and Loom. You can see the folders in the ripped version I got but no actual data. And the music is on their (last two songs).
http://www.boomspeed.com/casaaddams/Bild32.png)
Scabb, I see no other LA games on that page.. that's all I was looking for. I wouldn't think Zak would be the only game for the system :P.
Perhaps Zak did poorly and the ports of the other 2 never came to be.
?
Well.. you can see the INDYLOOM folder, right? And you will belive me that the music is on the CD, right? Seems pretty clear to me.
Strange.. The interactive timeline says Indy3 and Loom were both on FM Towns, yet Zak gets no mention.
Interactive Timeline?
Did I miss something?
edit: Nevermind.. just saw it! Cool... They could have bigger box scanns though. But who wants to be ungratefull..
Zak Mckracken in 256 colours and ScummVM graphics filters is brilliant :D

Hrm.. I dont know... I dont like the blurry text.
That's not terribly blurry.
Paint Shop Pro doesn't seem to compress JPEGs as well as Photoshop :(
It does!!! It looks cool!
Yeah I know Scabb, they look beautiful!
I own the original Zak game, and I bought it.
Then one day someone posted about this FM-TOWN version, and I downloaded it.
If we own the original game, then we can download the FM-TOWN version, eh? I'm not sure, but I wanted to ask you guys.
There's only a few versions of the FM-TOWN game in existence, and then we can download it as long as we own the original?
If not, I'll delete it right away - I promise.
So what should I do?
Should I keep it if I own the original. (Hmm... I don't think I have the original floppy anymore because I lost it. I found it on my old computer though (moved it to the old HD before I lost it)) :D
You copied it? Are you insane???
Thats a pirated copy! It is ILLEGAL!
Oh my god.. I think I just wet myself!
You are disgusting! People like you make me sick!
What's next? Rape? Murder?
God I'm pissed!
Casa.addams
P.S. Can I get a copy too? I have Zak original in many different versions and I thought...

Uhm... No, sorry. Was offended by the words you said I was.
So no, I'm not going to distribute it because it's still illigal, and I only downloaded it because I owned the original game.
I'll delete it if (anyone else) tells me to do it, because I don't like warez....and I DID not copy it! It wasn't me!
You got to be kidding me!
It was a joke!
God I hate people who do not think!
1. LucasArts is (now) a bloodsucking commercial company who did lost all its feeling for good adventuregames and for its fans.
2. Zak McKracken FM-Towns version is not sold anymore. So if you would (be so lucky and) buy Zak McKracken LucasArts wouldn't see a dollar.
3. Zak McKracken FM-Towns version does not belong to LucasArts but to Fujitsu Co. So if (what is so incredible unlikely) LucasArts would even spend a single moment on the thought about rereleasing the FM-Towns version they would drop the thought right away because they just CAN'T.
Same applys to Loom CD, Indy3 FM-Towns and so on.
Altough it would sure be illegal and "your" Zak McKracken is indeed a pirated copy or "warez" that you hate so much (lol).
So I would say delete it and save yourself a place in heaven.
God bless the simple minds for they do not have to question so many things in this world.
Amen
Grrrrr
pfew... no I feel better.
Casa.addams
P.S. I do think that Software Companys should be rewarded for their work! But in case of Zak McKracken FM-Towns(!!!) it is plain rediculous to talk about pirated copies...
jannar85, it is warez. Delete it. If you did not purchase the game from FMTowns, or secondhand on original cd, it is illegal to own. I know it seems cool to hide under the cover of "I own the original Zak, so I can download all the other versions" or "It's abandonware", but both concepts are false. It is the same as saying "I bought Windows 3.1, so it's ok for me to warez all subsequent versions" I am trusting you to keep your word about deleting it, ok?

Then it appears you have a small problem defining "think", as shown below.

None of that, absolutely none of it, is justification for piracy. No matter what company made what product.

Actually, it would be saving him from a heavy fine, possible jail time (yes, they actually do this - the fine for copying a certain CAD/Cam package used to be a $10,000 fine and 5 years in prison, minimum), as well as losing the feeling of "doing the right thing"

Unless FM-Towns puts the .iso up on the internet on their website with the word "Freeware" written below the download link, it is software piracy. Now, the Mojo/LucasArts fan community has always had a "no warez" rule in effect and you two should know that by now. Can we consider this warez discussion closed, or do I need to request that the thread be locked?
Your local law enforcement! I totally agree though Ben, so don't get me wrong. But I feel obliged to point out that LucasArts used to recomend you use a copy of the disks and store them on you hard drive too. In case of corruption or anything.
