Are there any plans for a Linux client, maybe a downloadable patch?

I use WineX 2.0, and barring a few sound stuttering issues (supposedly w/ DMA and the OSS/ALSA mess), JK2 plays fine.

The downside is that I can't patch to v1.03. The patch bombs out w/ a "cannot locate path" error, yadda yadda.

And yes, I am using a retail version that I bought from a store. :)

well i only tried it with the original version ... but unfortunately it seems to be a common problem that patched games wont run with wine... wizardry 8 for example only runs with the initial version too.
