Ok, just a few days ago... I had my dedicated server up running fine...
When I tried that double sabre trick it screwed it up somehow.... now when I make a dedicated server it doesn't show up in game browser. I click status in the console and it shows that its running.
anybody have any reason why?
also whenever I am in someone elses server I type (in game console) in the command /devmap duel_bay it takes me out of that someone elses server and makes a server for me then I am in it with no one in it. WEIRD!
any suggestions?
I narrowed it down to this....
When I click on Dedicated server: Internet
and start the server, and look for game in game browser it doesn't go under the Internet it goes under the LAN.
it makes a LAN game instead of an Internet game.
I named it [MY GAME] and then when I see it under LAN games it brings up
[MY GAME] [UDP] what does UDP stand for and why does it come up with my game?
whats going wrong?!?
someone please help!
Have you tried checking in ASE or GameSpy? There's a chance it's listed there just fine and you're seeing it under the LAN listing because you're on the same LAN.
Yes i checked gamespy its not showing up there either... its creating a LAN game instead of an Internet game. I create the server through the game. Is there another way?
Because I was so mad, I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it. It still does not work. I can't make an internet game, but It makes a LAN game again.
can someone help me?
Have you tried using the dedicated server app rather than creating the game through the mulitplayer app?
I've had problems with the upd thingy to. But it's gone now.. If i could remember how I would tell you.. ;)
About your LAN game thingy, I think it the multiplayer server is for LAN's only.. A thought?
;)
YES! I tried the dedicated server app.
Remember........ like a week ago everything was fine I could make a server and it would show up in the game browser...
now I can still make a server but it won't show up in the game browser it shows up a LAN game instead of a internet (in game browser)
You think ravensoft won't let me make a server because of my IP address?..... the last thing i remember doing was making bots in my server... that could be a problem? It sends out heartbeats fine its just that ravensoft won't put my game in the ingame browser list.....I've waited 3 hours for it to show up no signs of showing......could anyone help me plz?
Just so that anyone else trying to troubleshoot this has more information. His server is run on Win XP over a cable modem with no hardware firewall. His server can be connected to just fine via ip, but doesn't show up in either GameSpy or the in-game browser list. When I restart my server, it shows up in the lists immediately. *shrug* If it's an XP problem, then I wouldn't know a darn thing about it...I don't use version 1.0 of anything MicroSoft puts out anyway.
My only last idea would be to switch to another port and see if that helps. Try 28071 or 28080 just to see if it makes a difference. I remember reading in the forum about someone who had a problem with XP and fixed it...but the forum admins have disabled the search function (again) and it's a pain to find.
Hi ! Did anybody know :
1. How to activate a mod on a linux server !
2. What set g_motd does ???
3. Have anyone a COMPLETE list of the server commands ??
Thanks
1. How you activate a mod will vary based on how the mod is designed. For some, it's enough to have it load. For some, you need to redirect the fs_basepath, fs_homepath, etc.
2. Whatever you set g_motd to will be displayed on the players screen during connection and map changes just below the server name.
3. You can always get a complete list of the server commands using cmdlist. Just type that into the server console. If you want to know what a particular command does, just ask.
