Since the beginnings of Battlefront 3 Lucas Arts has kept it quiet. They made Free Radical swear to secrecy and when they went down, the project was conceivably lost. Some leaked news told us that Rebellion passed up the opportunity without us even finding out.
Now it is rumored to be with Pandemic, being "project Y" and this time they don't even tell us that it's Lucas Arts-assuming it is Battlefront 3- My guess is that if they did, it would be very obvious that it's Battlefront.
What do you guys think is the reason behind the secrecy; is it to build up hype indirectly? to have a mega ad campaign weeks before the release? what do you guys think?
Nope, one of the workers at pandemic confirmed that Pandemic would not be taking SWBF3. ;) So unless Pandemic changed it's mind and put it's other project on hold, they will not be doing SWBF3.
God only knows, and I shouldn't think that He's too sure, either.
What do you guys think is the reason behind the secrecy;
Because they are LucasArts.
They confirmed that they were not making BF3 One month before they announced "project Y". And they were clear to mention that they were not "currently" making BF3. They won't reveal any more about project Y

Keeping the game from being announced always has its reasons, but with the recent problems at Rebellion, and the speculation on the game's fate, there's a possibility that even LucasArts aren't sure what to do with it right now, or have decided to put the game in the fridge for now.
because LA has been making Star Wars games too long and now they all think that the entire human race has the Force and that we can read their minds, so we already know about it.
but on a more realistic note: if they announced it too early, imagine the hype. despite how much i love Blizzard Entertainment, they made that mistake with StarCraft 2 and possibly Diablo 3. id Software has also seemed to have made that mistake with Doom 4.
Lucasarts hates us....in simple terms.
