Just do Korriban last.

The sand people are pretty tough :\. They aren't too bad for me until those freaking Holy Warriors start ambushing you with two elites. No matter what, though, those damn wraids are what really tick me off. Those Hulak Wraids were hitting me for 25 damage the whole time. Really annoying. What's worse is their plates are only worth like 24 credits at Fazza's. What the hell kind of hunter can make a living off that? "Oh I see you managed to survive an extremely life threatening encounter with a large desert predator. Here's half a medpac."
Save the swoop bonds for Suvam Tan at Yavin Station. I think he pays 156 credits a pop for those. I got over 18,000 credits from him after Tatooine. :D
i hate the part on tatooine when u have to use the banther fodder on the banthers because those dam elite sand people keep using adhesive grenades and shooting me ¬¬ i keep ding at tht part =/.
and burnsey didn't even know u could get HK on K1 XD, but i told her where to get him=]

Correction: I did know... I just never saw the droid shop. >_> I mean I WAS 12 last time I completed it, before that.
At least I didn't die at the hands of sand people.
:xp:

There's no shame in admitting to dying at the hands of some overly-inflated-stats enemy. I died against Malak MANY TIMES, but only because his attributes were so inflated to outrageous levels. That doesn't mean he ever beats me now. It makes sense to lose to a very easy enemy that is given much more than they ever deserve.
I visit the planets depending on how i want to shape my story. But i always try going to Kashyyyk as the second planet. Cause i hate bumping into Calo or Bandon down there.. But i think the best way for me is:
1. Tatooine
2. Kashyyyk
3. Manaan
4. Korriban
Sometimes i swap Tatooine and Manaan..
I have a question about Calo and Bandon...Does Calo always confront you on your first planet, and Bandon always on the third? That seems to be the case but I could swear I've fought Bandon at Kashyyyk even though that's always my second...
Yes, I believe that is how it works. I always go to Kashyyyk first, so Calo has those wookies with him. That makes him much harder to beat IMO. You must be mistaken about Kashyyk being your second. Although, if you stop at Kashyyyk first, but do not go down to the shadowlands, and just get on the Hawk and go to Tatooine, will Calo be on Kashyyyk or Tatooine?
~HOP
If I recall correctly, Bandon confronts you on your second planet, not the third. But it's been a while.
As for the other question, Calo should be on Tatooine.
Let's see...
Calo meets Malak as you leave Dantooine.
Calo then ambushes you after your next Star Map (1st planet)
Then Saul Karath reports Calo's failure and Darth Bandon is introduced after your next Star Map (2nd planet)
Then Darth Bandon ambushes you after your next Star Map (3rd planet) <= bad idea for this to be Korriban, as you'll be by yourself :(
Then you're captured by the Leviathan after your 4th Star Map (4th planet)
Then you go on (sans Bastila) to retrieve the final Star Map (5th planet).
That's from memory, but I'm willing to wager cash that it's right. I hope that helps.
Then Darth Bandon ambushes you after your next Star Map (3rd planet) <= bad idea for this to be Korriban, as you'll be by yourself :(
What do you mean you'll be by yourself? You get to have party members with you during the confrontation.
That seems to be the case...I must have something mixed up in my memory. I know I remember both Calo and Bandon on Kashyyyk, but I guess those were on very early playthroughs like when my step brother had the game...maybe I just watched him fight them.
What do you mean you'll be by yourself? You get to have party members with you during the confrontation. No you do not. He ambushes you after you get the Star Map, which you have to do alone on Korriban. You don't get to add members back to your party until after you've reentered the academy. If you don't believe me, feel free to visit Korriban for your 3rd Star Map next time you play. Let me know how that works out for you.

Yup, it is a hard fight for the unprepared.
Actually, on Korriban (like with Kashyyk) he ambushes you before you get the Star Map. Would've messed up the scene with the Sith students demanding to know where Uthar is if he hadn't, as they confront you in the same place you're ambushed by Bandon.
Actually, on Korriban (like with Kashyyk) he ambushes you before you get the Star Map. Please bet me money on this!
If Korriban is your 4th planet and you've already picked up your 3rd Star Map, then yes, he will ambush you before you get the Star Map (when you first enter the valley).
If Korriban is your 3rd planet and you just got your 3rd Star Map in the Tomb of Naga Sadow, then he will ambush you in the same spot and you will be all alone.
EDIT: Also, he only ambushes you beforehand on Kashyyk (and Tattooine and Manaan) if you've picked up the 3rd Star Map beforehand. If you get the 3rd Star Map on that planet, he will ambush you afterwords, on your way back to your ship.
Would've messed up the scene with the Sith students demanding to know where Uthar is if he hadn't, as they confront you in the same place you're ambushed by Bandon.Again, please bet me money on this (hint: I would not have included an explicit warning if it hadn't happened to me at least once :D)
Please bet me money on this! I was going to take you up on this offer as I agreed with Emperor Devon on this. However, since I'm ill today and limited on what I can do at work. I dug around looking for an old save games and finally tried it the way you described. Darn you, you were correct. I’d remember that happening once before when I’ve played, but I felt that must have been just on the Xbox version, yet I was wrong again. Should have known you were correct when Redhawke agreed with you.
1. Tatoonine - to see what’s eating Bastila’s father.
2. Kashyyyk - to check on the retirement community Chuundar put Big Z's father Freyyr into.
3. Manaan - Getting low on funds from helping out Mission’s family. Travel to Manaan to see what the going rate is on Cathar Slaves. Maybe a nice sushi dinner is in order.
4. Korriban – After making a quick stop to drop some dead weight off. It is time to head over to Korriban to visit Carth’s son in college. Can you say toga party? Carth is a bit disappointed that Dustil did not choice his alma mater, but who cares a party is a party.
Should have known you were correct when Redhawke agreed with you. Protip: I only wager when I know I'll win :)

1) Tattooine - At this point I've already spoken to Mission about her brother and Lena will pop up to let us know where he is. Also to pick up HK-47.
2) Kashyyyk - Griff needs Tach glands and this is where they are. Oh, look a new party member too! :)
3) Korriban - By this point Carth's told me all about Dustil and now we know where to find him (besides it makes a lot more sense to help Carth before the big reveal rather than after...to me anyway). Also, there is some phat loot on Korriban and I feel it makes the most sense to get this at about the half-way point.
4) Manaan - Because it's the only one left. Jolee is the last to join, so we do his side quest last.
Ah, should have figured that. Would've taken less scripting to just remove the Sith students after all.

Where do I place my bets?! Where do I place my bets?! Whatever you're willing to wager... I'm game!
Of course, since this wouldn't work anyway, I'll just say it... Darth Bandon engages Revan before the fourth Star Map on Korriban has been found. If you found three of the five and go to Korriban's Valley, he will be there. The same goes true if you got three and then went back to Tattoine's star map again... he'll be there even if you already found that map second or third time around.
Let's see...
Calo meets Malak as you leave Dantooine.

Wow, it really has been a while, hasn't it? I must play again. :D Kudos on remembering all that, by the way.
Protip: I only wager when I know I'll win :)
(except when I play poker)
Wanna play poker? :p
As for me, let's see...
Kashyyyk - If I have to have a walking carpet on board, he sure as hell is going to pull his weight, and we need a guide.
Tatooine - Someone has challenged Canderous to a duel. Mandalorians never run from a fight. Not even when the other side has a big red button hooked up to a superweapon in orbit over the creepiest world this side of the galaxy.
Manaan - After hiking through the forest and the desert, it's time for a nice vacation by the sea.
Korriban -
After making a quick stop to drop some dead weight off. It is time to head over to Korriban to visit Carth’s son in college. Can you say toga party? Carth is a bit disappointed that Dustil did not choice his alma mater, but who cares a party is a party.
Like the man said, party!
I do the same planet orders as JCarter426.

Otherwise if Korriban is the 4th star map, then Bandon will engage you on your way back to the academy, after you've whooped whichever Sith Masters you've decided to whoop.
Wow, it really has been a while, hasn't it? I must play again. Kudos on remembering all that, by the way. I played KotOR a lot (!!!) of times.
Wanna play poker? You'll never put me on a hand :xp:
I played KotOR a lot (!!!) of times.
Well, so have I but I don't memorize every detail. For instance, I don't know that BioWare used the Ebon Hawk dorm for what's supposed to be the bunk in the hideout on Taris. ;)
You'll never put me on a hand :xp:
Says you. :xp:
Another question comes to mind...I do Kashyyyk first, in order to get Jolee early on, plus I've always found that it goes a bit quicker. And I've noticed most do Kashyyyk first and Tatooine second (or vice versa), obviously to get Jolee and HK early.
So for those of you that do, why Kashyyyk first, or why Tatooine first, whatever the case may be?
The first time I played, I did Tatooine, Kashyyyk, (for some reason, if you don't leave a world at all during your first two Star Maps, the Leviathan comes early), and after the Leviathan I did Manaan and Korriban. I always hated Manaan, the Selkath sounds gave me a headache, and you had do listen to the stupid security camera warning all the time.
Says you. :xp: Many have tried :)

So for those of you that do, why Kashyyyk first, or why Tatooine first, whatever the case may be?I do Tattooine first because Mission points me to Tattooine and then Griff (on Tattooine) points me to Kashyyyk. If I tried to find a similar story-based rationale for going to Kashyyyk first, it doesn't exist (or I should say, "I haven't found it").
For the purposes of roleplaying, I try very hard to let the story direct me to where I should go next. Revan in the game doesn't know that Jolee is on Kashyyyk, therefore I play as though I don't know either.
So for those of you that do, why Kashyyyk first, or why Tatooine first, whatever the case may be?
Kashyyk. Out of all the party members (except maybe Carth for female PCs), Jolee has the most dialogue. I've found I can only trigger it all by picking him up as early as possible. And even then, I'm usually listening to his last conversation on the Unknown World.
Edit: True, there's no actual reason you should go to Kashyyk first from a roleplaying perspective. I like to pretend it's situated in between Dantooine and Tatooine*, though, making it the most convenient planet to visit first.
* The EU can screw itself, most of it's garbage anyways.
^^^^
Hmm...my copy must be broken. It seems like Jolee is willing to spill the beans entirely almost from the word "go". I actually dread talking to him because once I start, I know he won't shut up.
So for those of you that do, why Kashyyyk first, or why Tatooine first, whatever the case may be? No matter what planet I go to first, I either get the Mission or Bastila side quest trigger first. That causes me to leave that planet before getting the Star Map and head to Tatoonine. You can’t finish the Bastila side quest with her mother unless you visit the cave with the Star Map, so I always get Tatoonine Star Map first. As Achilles wrote, I go to Kashyyyk 2nd because Mission’s brother needs Tach glands. I visit planets as I receive crew quest. After all, these people are watching the PC back, so the PC needs to keep them happy. Good thing we don’t have to pay fuel cost for the Ebon Hawk.
Now when playing darkside I focus more on completing the mission and less on my crew.
Hmm, interesting reasons, everyone.
I try very hard to let the story direct me to where I should go next. Revan in the game doesn't know that Jolee is on Kashyyyk, therefore I play as though I don't know either.
Heh, fair enough.
I'm thinking that from a story standpoint, it makes sense to do Kashyyyk last. Zaalbar obviously has family issues, so he'll likely try to steer everyone away from it. This would place Korriban at third, which isn't that unreasonable seeing as the player's probably ready to take on Korriban after two planets. Then it's a toss-up between Manaan and Tatooine, probably Manaan first since it's closer and there's a strong Republic presence.
If you didn't get Jolee so late, it might actually be worth trying. :indif:
I'm thinking that from a story standpoint, it makes sense to do Kashyyyk last. Except that Griff asks you to go there 2nd.
Zaalbar obviously has family issues, so he'll likely try to steer everyone away from it. He doesn't really though. He gives a bunch of warnings and has a couple "I have a bad feeling about this" moments, but that's about it.
This would place Korriban at third, which isn't that unreasonable seeing as the player's probably ready to take on Korriban after two planets. Right, but again, you could also be going because of your conversations with Carth.
Then it's a toss-up between Manaan and Tatooine, probably Manaan first since it's closer and there's a strong Republic presence. That certainly is one way. Another would be that you'd do Tattooine first because of Mission's sidequest.
If you didn't get Jolee so late, it might actually be worth trying. :indif:By the time you leave Dantooine, you have all your party members, save two. One of them is on Kashyyyk. The other is on Tattooine. If the story points you to Tattooine and then to Kashyyyk, then "late" becomes kinda relative, no (you still have 5 more places to visit before getting to Star Forge)?
Except that Griff asks you to go there 2nd.
Well, that's assuming that you bothered to help Griff. :p
He doesn't really though. He gives a bunch of warnings and has a couple "I have a bad feeling about this" moments, but that's about it.
Eh, I guess. Still, better safe than sorry.
Right, but again, you could also be going because of your conversations with Carth.
That certainly is one way. Another would be that you'd do Tattooine first because of Mission's sidequest.
That too.

Well, I mean if you do Kashyyyk last.
Well, that's assuming that you bothered to help Griff. :p Yes, it does assume that. My point is that if you follow the story, that's where it points you.
Well, I mean if you do Kashyyyk last.Of course. But again, if you're following the story, why would you go to Kashyyyk last?
Well, I just see a greater inclination to go to the others first--Tatooine for three of the party member quests, Korriban for Dustil, and Manaan is probably the safest of the four, seeing as it isn't run by Czerka.
I understand that as a matter of preference, you make other choices. I'm not saying that's wrong, only that it isn't following the story.
How is it not following the story?
I don't really see the need to go to Kashyyyk early on, unless you get the Tachs for Griff, which I never do. As you said, the PC doesn't know about Jolee, and there's no other compelling reason to go there, while there are reasons for the other three.
Well if you're not doing any of the side quests then there's no compelling reason to go to any of the planets. For all the character knows, they're all "Manaan" (or "Manaan" is an inescapable death trap).
If you are talking to your party NPCs (and doing their quests, and following the story), then it's Tattooine, Kashyyyk, Korriban, Manaan. If you're not, then you're not, and any sequence is perfectly suitable and no better (or worse) than any other.
Right here is fine. :)
Three people have confirmed that it works precisely like this and yet still you argue? :)
Darth Bandon engages Revan before before the Korriban Star Map, only if 4th Star Map has been found first (i.e. if Korriban is your 2nd to last star map). Otherwise if Korriban is the 4th star map, then Bandon will engage you on your way back to the academy, after you've whooped whichever Sith Masters you've decided to whoop.
I'm not a subject of group think. It could be done, but it would require that you go through Korriban entirely before going through the final trial. Otherwise, you would encounter Bandon on your way through that level.
It could be done, but you would have to transition DIRECTLY from the academy to the tomb. Otherwise, you would run into him before you got the second-last star map.

It could be done, but you would have to transition DIRECTLY from the academy to the tomb. Otherwise, you would run into him before you got the second-last star map. You're more than welcome to try it yourself and then post the results. Play the game. After the cutscene introducing Bandon, go to Korriban. Complete the planet and get the Star Map. Then let us know whether he ambushes you with your party before you get the Star Map (as you insist) or after as I claim (and several others have confirmed).
That would seem to be the quickest way to settle this definitively, no?
P.S. I just want to point out that you're not just calling me a liar, but Redhawke and mimartin as well. If you do confirm what I suggest, I think it would be appropriate to apologize to them also.
Well if you're not doing any of the side quests then there's no compelling reason to go to any of the planets.
Eh? I'm not saying I never do any of the side quests. I just never bother to help out Griff. He left his sister alone on a strange world, and has successfully failed at every job he's ever had, so why should I help him out? Credits don't grow on trees, you know. :p
But to each his own, I guess.
I'm not a subject of group think.
What any of us think isn't going to rewrite the scripts that spawn Bandon after the Star Map. Unless of course, as Achilles mentioned above, you're calling several people liars.
But by all means, play through Korriban if it'll satisfy your need to feel different.
Hmm, On my first ever playthrough I was Kashyyyk, Korriban, Tatooine, Manaan. Nowadays I'm either Kashyyyk,Tatooine,Manaan, and Korriban, or Kashyyyk, Manaan, Tatooine, And Korriban.
1st - Endar Spire
2nd - Taris
3rd - Dantooine
4th - Manaan
5th - Tatooine
6th - Kashyyyk
7th - Leviathan
8th - Lehon
9th - Star Forge
I usually hate beating the game, so I don't collect the Star Maps. But I usually play Kashyyyk, Manaan, and Tatooine in any random order, so who cares?
Tatooine, Manaan, Kashyyyk, or Korriban. Sometimes, I switch it up. If, do a new character. So, I won't get bored going to the same planets each time, I played.
1st - Endar spire - thats the start of the game!
2nd - Taris - thats where we end up
3rd - Dantooine - cuz thats where we go lol
4th - tatooine - by the time i get done with dantooine usually i've gotten far enough with canderous, mission and bastila that they want to go there, plus i can pick up hk-47. ALSO after every planet i return to dantooine and tatooine to hunt and get some extra xp, so tatooine is very important
5th - kashyyk - at this point im wanting to get jolee so i head over there, plus after i rescue griff they want me to go to kashyyk if i choose to, also to help the story along with Big Z i head there
6th - Manaan - At some point this will be for jolee
7th - generally this is when i get picked up by saul
8th - i finish the general story with korriban, i don't really enjoy that world very much, and since bastilla is already gone she can't *not* come on this mission anyway
9th - The unknown world, this is just how the story goes
10th - star forge, i win :)
