DVD. I do plan to get a PS3 at some point though, but whether I'll use its Blu-Ray option, I have no idea.

Currently DVD. I'm going to sit back and see how this format war pans out before making any decisions.

I'm not upgrading from regular DVDs until I see what eventually becomes more popular and/or widespread. It'll be a sad day when I do upgrade though, since my whole movie collection is DVDs, and I'll be set back just a few dollars if I have to buy every one of them again.

I think the HD DVD player is compatible with regular DVD's.

Currently, I have a DVD player. Though, I also have my Xbox 360, which is hook-up to my TV through an HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) cable and the picture is quite clear and sharp.

I don't when I'll upgrade, if I do, to HD-DVD or Blu-ray. But, I don't see it coming in time soon.

I as well will be waiting to see how the battle between the two formats pans out... They definitely need to come down in price before they become mainstream. I'd kind of like to see HD-DVD come out on top.

I've got a DVD player.

But all seems that Blu-ray will triump over HD-DVD. Even if it's more expensive.

Well, I guess they would release TFU on 8 track then. There would be quite some tapes.

Personally I think HD-DVD > blu-ray. Burn In Gizka Poodoo sony.

DVD,
and in relation to the Blu-ray vs HD-DVD thing - arent some companies developing players that are compatible with both of those and regular DVDs ?
and some developing combined blu-ray/HD-DVD disks ?

DVD. I still use VHS sometimes too. I'm not too bothered with HD junk at this point because honestly, it doesn't matter.

I'm waiting for the dust to settle on this fight, too. We don't get rid of our older stuff when the new comes along, though--it's just too expensive with all the music and videos we've acquired over 20-ish years. We actually still have vinyl LPs (33's and 45's) in a box in the basement and cassette tapes in a cabinet, and a turntable and cassette player to handle both. No 8-tracks, though, sorry. We have a dual VHS/DVD player to play those. When HD or Blu-ray has a good amount of material available on it and one of our current players just isn't doing the job anymore, we'll move to that format as well.

You'll take me away from my DVDs kicking and screaming. Should one next-gen HD format win the war, and when the prices drop to current DVD prices, I might upgrade. The last DVD player I bought cost $60, and I get DVDs for $12-$15. The HD formats have a loong way to go.

That's always a possibility for me as well. But, at the moment, I don't think I am going to get it. Even though, they expecting to lower the price of it to $179 USD.

DVD(technically I use my Xbox), it seems it's been a little more popular answer.

remember though, it has also been out longer..so if one's DVD player (or game system)works fine, why bother buying something else?(unless your rich of course)

I think they should upgrade Wii's to play DVDs...

I only have DVD for now - I was waiting to see who won the HD DVD vs Blu-Ray war. Now that Blu-Ray has won, I'll end up getting a Blu-Ray player soon (probably a PS3)

I'm still using DVDs, and probably will continue to do so for quite a while. The new ones are just far too expensive at the moment. For example, at my local movie/music/etc. shop, a film tha costs around Ј7-10 may cost upwards of Ј20 on Blu-Ray. Now, irrespective of any graphical enhancements or special features, I find that a little absurd...

However, I voted Blu-Ray in the poll by virtue of being a PS3 user. It was quite gratifying to see PS3's medium trump that favoured by the 360!

I have DVDs, though I'd like to give the blu-ray a shot.

For now, though, I am satified with buying surplus Blu-Ray reader assemblies and turning them into purple laser pointers.

DVD. If I'm being honest, I don't like watching things in such a high definition like Blu-Ray provides. Everything ends up looking fake. At least, that's based off my experience with it (which mainly consists of watching Thor at a friend's house)
