I decided to try doing Anakin Skywalker and knew I need to choose a model that was thin in the face but had some hair so I decided on the bearded guy after realizing his beard is all skin and not modeled.

I actually used the real thing and found an oversized Hayden Christensen head with a large resolution (cropped in the example on this page). I think I spent a total of 13 hours on this today as I ended up using pretty much every tool and technique at my disposal in Photoshop CS to make it work. The lightside was just about getting a clean even head on shot of Hayden and then cutting it perfectly down the middle then covering the appropriate areas of TSL's tga with a mask and then doing some plastic surgery to get the eyes and mouth lined up with the original as I knew those parts moved in game. So that was the compromise was actually cutting out Haydens eyes and mouth and relocating them then using the clone stamp tool to fill in the gaps.

The majority of the work was done on the lightside tga outside alot of handpainting and tinting on the darkside tga. The darkside has eyes based on his darkside pic from Episode III. I actually had to mute down and darken the original photo of him as it had highlights that would be pointless since the game has its own lighting. But I think the final product came out cool - it even has Haydens real skin, freckles, eyebrows, 30% of his hair, and the vein in his forehead.

Look like Ani?

Mask the beard leftover just below the face, you can even see it still on texture. Also the dark hair on the face doesnt blend with rest of hair.

On personal note, Hispanic long haired head would fit better in terms of shape.

lol I was wondering what that was beneath his chin I thought that was back or side of his head so I left it. I really need to learn how to make UV maps.

Yeah I thought about using that guy because his nose and eyes are perfect but his face is too fat, I specifically needed a thin face. If his cheeks were't so plump I'd use him.

Thx for the feedback! I'm still green at this, but I'll nail my next one whatever it takes.

Persistence is the key ;), keep it up, aside from the chin hickup the reskin is pretty good overall. If you had seen some of my earliest attempts at mods you'd consider yourself a god right now. Just ask any of the folks who were here when I started and they'll tell you how hopeless I was, heck I'm still hopeless :xp:

That's really good.

The main thing throwing me off a true likeness is his eyebrows. If you can find a way to shorten them and pull his temples in closer to his eyes in the texture, I think that would go a long way toward getting a good likeness.

Your techinique sounds pretty much flawless, just needs a little tweaking to account for the UV map. His mouth is perfect, and the distinct shape of his temples is good, too. Just needs to be in the right place.

lol I'm far from a god, if you had seen my first attempts at retexturing the Verpine Ultramesh armor you'd be laughing r now. It came out all retarded the first time with a neon green hue ( I was trying to make subtle camouflage).
Then It looked like pink camouflage on the second try because I let the underarmor show through too much. I finally nailed it on the 3rd try but it still needs some texture to it as it looks flat and opaque now.

It's funny you say all of that because I'm referencing at least one of your tutorials every day.

Yeah I probably need to shorten those brows a touch, especially on the light side version. Thing is, I had to move the eyes to line up with the model eyes and then the mouth to line up with the model mouth, Had I been able to keep those in place it would likely look exactly like him now, as it is I thought the only dead ringer quality I could keep were those slanted eybrows - if you look at alot of the Anakin pics from Ep III, he has a pretty sinister scowl and his eyebrows are at a nearly vertical angle. Though you're right about his temples and lightside eyebrows.

lol I Just realized I've been playing with low texture quality this whole time - so those screenshots are all lowest quality - lol egad I'm green Roll Eyes

i meant which site!

I haven't uploaded it. I was just asking people to let me know what they thought about my first head reskin.

Though, I am uploading a head package soon which will include: Anakin Skywalker, Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Mace Windu, and Count Dooku. Look for it within the next few weeks at KotoR 2 files site.
