Performance problem on KOTOR I

I just got my new PC up and running, but I'm seeing that the performance is just plain bad.
I just got a 6800GS video card paired up with a P4 3ghz, so I'm guesing it should be able to play the game on medium high with no lag...
The problem is that I can hardly even play the game. I have a tremendous lag (like 1 fps) even while i'm staring at a wall. I have the game with low textures 800x600 resolution, and with no AA.
I already tried overclocking, underclocking, and even returned to stock speeds, but nothing helps...

Is this just me, or does anyone else with this graphics card have the same problem? And yes, I do have the latest drivers from Nvidia.
If anyone found a way to make the performance better, plz tell me, any help would be apreciated. :ears1:

Do you have a dual-core pentium? If not, then please take a look into this thread: http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=144109) If you do, then know that there's a problem with the latest nvidia drivers and dual core processors. To fix it, you either have to install a pre 80 driver or disable one core on your processor.

The easiest way to disable the second core: open your boot.ini and add the switch /numproc=1 then reboot. Windows will only be using 1 core, and KOTOR will work. When you want the second core back, edit the boot.ini to reading /numproc=2 and reboot again.

I have the same problem. My processor is about 1.8 GHz and I have the same graphics card. I checked out the suggested post, but it seems to only address ATI cards, while I have a Nvidia.

Read under the "2.) Edit the "swkotor2.ini" file". It's for Nvidia cards aswell.

I have the dantooine lag issue sometimes, but my real problem is on KOtoR I, not TSL. All the way during the game it's laggy, even when I look at a wall... -_-

The solution is the same: edit the swkotor.ini file.

The 6200 is a low end GPU so don't expect to get much eyecandy...

The first thing to try is updating your drivers and lowering your graphic options: turn off Anisotropy, Frame Buffer, Emitters, Grass and Soft Shadows (allthese are enabled according to your report)

Also, you could try lowering your resolution.

I lowered everything to "low" and turned everything I could off. Then I downloaded the most recent drivers. However, the game still lurches around, usually starting when I touch a wall.

Just to add on to the previous post, the game ran fine for the first level, then started lurching in the second level.
