So I wasn't going to post this until tomorrow, when I get pictures back, but, what the heck, I'll start today. (In other words, I cannot contain my excitement.) I give you.... THIS:
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/Kagaeris/San%20Francisco/SignedGrim.jpg)
For those who can't read what it says, it says "Dear Conley, Thanks for all the cookies! (Oh and for playing the game!) Tim S."
*squeeeee*
What exactly does this mean? I can't read nor do i understand it.
Heh, I thought not. Let me edit the original post, I'll put what it says.
And in case, for some reason, you still cant figure it out....
I met Tim Schafer, and he signed my copy of Grim Fandango.
I thought it was exciting, anyway.
Congratulations. Where / How did you meet him?
A friend and I asked if we could visit his company, Double Fine Productions. Heh...
Whoa, that is just at the top of cool! Congratulations, you've made every GF fan jealous!
Also, that is a very interesting package for GF. Is it official? I've never seen one like it.
OH! :lips1: NOW I KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS! :ears1:
I got that copy of Grim Fandango soooo long ago. Yeah, it's official. It's in horrible condition though. As you can see, it's all taped together. Tim looked pretty shocked when he saw it, he was like "Ummm, did you get it like this?" And by the way, while on the subject, Tim Schafer is super-super nice.
The reason why didn't know what that was, was becuase I didn't have CD case for Grim Fandango becuase I think I think I got in it a pack thing when I got my coputer I think. :sithk:
OOoohhh, that's interesting...
My copy of Grim Fandango is in the same packaging. I've been less brutal with it though. :P
Very cool though!
Now I'm even more jealous. My copy of GF came in an ugly DVD case. One of these days I'll print out the fan-made covers and use them instead.
Tim sounds like a great guy. You were so lucky to meet him.
I have the nifty cardboard packaging as well. Very old. Back when games came in huge boxes.
Excellent work, don't tell Yufster though. She will kill you.
My cardboard cd slip is in such a terrible state. I really do curse myself for not appreciating the respect it deserves in my younger days.
Yes, so do I. I look back now and go "Whyyyy, WHYYY didn't I take good care of it??" I attribute most of the damage to my friends, the Nolans though. That's how it fell in half. Darn Nolans.
Well, I get my pictures back from the trip in an hour, so I'll post them then. Before that though, here's Chris and I all pumped up for our trip to see Tim Schafer...

Ok, here's us with Tim Schafer. He's really not as scary as he looks in this picture, the scanner made the image quality of all these pictures go waaaaay down.

While we were talking to him in his office, he wrote this address down on a piece of paper for a building that he said the Department of Death was based on in GF. We went looking for it the next day. Needless to say, we recognized it instantly.

Here's the inside, gold elevators and all.

I have more pictures of everything (both Double Fine and the Grim Fandango building) and will post them if you'd like.
Damn, that is so cool (the DOD building). So Rubacava, when you at the Double Fine office did you look around for clues about what they were working on next, or did you ask Tim about it? BTW, your disk sleeve is in better condition than mine... I let my dumb brother in law borrow the game and he never played it, and by the time I got it back from him he had let my 18 month old neice tear it apart...
We looked around, but all the Psychonauts stuff was still up. We didn't really ask, because we didn't want to be rude and pushy. I guess we sorta asked, but not really. We didn't hear anything, it was secret.
Wow, that building really is just like the DOD :o
I have the cardboard CD case too. It's what I got when I ordered the game from the LucasArts company store just after the game was released. Mine is in pretty good condition seeing as I've had it for 7 years and still take the discs in and out of the case pretty frequently to play the game.
Wow. That looks just like the DOD building! Amazing what you can learn these days.
Dude, thats the coolest thing ever! heh love the artwork :)...I'm thinking I might do my bedroom the same way...mmm

Thats a lie...
There's nothing stopping me now! Ahahahaha! *runs to get gold paint*
...
Okay, that was a lie too. I don't own the house we're in, and I'm about to go to Japan for ten months. But when I return! Ah yes... when I return... *cackles evilly*
Can I just say, Nightwish rock! \m/
What's the trip to Japan for buddy? Work? Sounds good anyway...
You should send all those pictures and stuff over to mixnmojo.com or something. I'm sure they'd post it.
Probably, oh well. And I have a lot more pictures. But do you think Double Fine/Tim would get mad at me if I did that? Well, not the building. I could send the pictures of the building.
I reckon you should send pics of the building. Not Tim, but certainly the building.
The bulding is note exactly the same (at least the garage elevator is wrongly situated) but the bulding style is the same, we want to se more photos please! At least me, we are seeing the DOD buiding in person!
YEheaaaaaaa.
You are too lucky!
Send me some more pictures of the building please and I'll add them to The DOD (website) (
http://dod.dotagame.com) :)
Okay, I emailed them to you. ^ ^
