the main visiual differnce are the Engine Nozzles at the back one model has shrouds on them and the other does not, I forget which is which.

and Windu what use would officers be?

Never mind you carping on about "useless" EU units it's people adding useless film units that'd be worse, what possible use could an officer have?

Another difference is the structure between the 2 domes, it's now layed down instead of upright.

Another is the difference is on the frontal part of the tower.

The change happened between ANH and ESB.

Adding more resolve and other "buffs" to a squad could be one.

There were a lot of non-commissioned officers fighting on Endor.. I'm sure there'd be some use for them.

Ordinary officers could sorta be an upgrade to the squad to boost morale (or more likely, increase attack or HP a little bit)

luke - I never claimed that the game should be completely film units, EU units are needed for diversity. However, they should supplement cannon units, not replace them or do things better than them. Also, as for film units, they would include

Empire
1. Infantry
- Stormtrooper
- Officer
- AT-ST Pilot
- AT-AT Pilot
- Scout Trooper
- E-web Team (the machine gun at Hoth)
- Trooper on Dewback

2. Mechanised
- Speeder Bike
- AT-ST
- AT-AT

3. Aircraft
- TIE Fighter
- TIE Interceptor
- TIE Bomber
- Lambda Shuttle
- TIE Shuttle
- Assault Shuttle (start of Ep4)
- Darth Vader's TIE Fighter

4. Space
- Star Destroyer
- Super Star Destroyer
- Death Star Mk.1
- Death Star Mk.2

Which comes to 21 units without resorting to EU.

Rebels
1. Infantry
- Trooper
- Repeater Trooper (machine gun in the trenches on Hoth)
- Officer
- Commando
- Trooper of Tauntaun

2. Aircraft
- (Snow)speeder
- X-wing
- Y-wing
- B-wing
- A-wing

3. Space
- Corellian Corvette
- Escort Frigate
- Mon Cal Cruiser
- Home One

Which comes to 14 units with no EU.

Empire-
Infantry-Now that I think about it, pilots shouldn't be in the list since they'll always be in their respective vehicle.

-2

Aircraft-The Tie shuttle is a fairly controversial subject. Some say it's a Tie Bomber. We only saw such a short glimpse of it. Darth Vader's Tie is a hero unit.

-2

Space-Both Death Stars are basically the same thing but one has more power. Therefore,

-1

Total:16

Rebels-
The Home one is a calamari cruiser.

Total:13

You ignore many facts. You know nothing of the Tie Crawler's role in the game(as a matter of fact, you know nothing about how any of the EU units that have been put in the game work).
I do not see why the Tie Crawler would "replace" the AT-ST. We know it is weaker then an AT-ST. We know the AT-ST is in the game.

Therefore, this claim:

not replace them or do things better than them.

is utterly false. You imply that they use EU units to replace or do better then cannon units.

What is this TIE Shuttle people keep talking about?

It looks kinda like the TIE bomber, except it's larger, and carries personell to and from star destroyers (or other ships) or a boarding party, like the one that was used to board the Tantive IV for instance.

You never got to really see it in the movies, but a short glimps of it can be witnessed as a shuttle leaves the Avenger to the Executor, carrying Captain Needa to apologize to Vader.

I remember the scene, I never looked too closely at the ship. Thanks.

Uuu, my bad, the TIE Shuttle appearantly might not be the same as the one they use for boarding. There seems to be 2 types.

And neither of them seems to be larger than a TIE Bomber. Atleast not much. :)

I always thought that ship was some kind of transport that looked like a box with an engine on it. It still looks like it in that picture and on the dvds.

Heres just a few running around in my head:

- Jedi Characters interact, when jedi fight, they fight, they dont take stabs at the other until there dead, scripted moves against each other. They also would be able to deflect blasters to a degree, and use force powers.

- Bothan Spies used to give partial sight to the battlefield, and to steal imperial technology. Also have a suicide ability so when the games up, they take out a few troopers in a blaze of glory, thermal detonator, somthing like that, so you actually can back up the thory, that many bothans DIED...to bring you such information.

- Hyperspace. Units are able to transport in and out of Hyperspace to evacuate or to bring re-inforcements. Unless of course interdictor class star destoryers are within the area.

- Galactic Influence , based off an idea from Rebellion. Hero units you send to planets use diplomacy to turn the planet to your own, start uprisings, bring down the opposition base from within the planet. on the otherside of the coin, random uprisings against you will have to be defended, and then terminate the hero that sparked it.

- Trade Routes, a line of planets that define a route which will provide a high yeild of resources to your forces. once these routes are established it will give a 'x2, x3, x4' effect for each planet in the trade route you occupy. for the opposition, the ability to distrupt these trade routes will be in the way of attacking trade ships and looting. As well as distrupting the chain by conquering a planet within the route.

Well these were just a few to make the game replay value a bit more worthwhile i guess, adds a bit more strategy to your resource gathering and your choice of planet to lay seige to..

Oh.....and David Hasselhoff must have a Cameo as the Dark Jedi Kit Buchanen. To whom, in one special mission, both sides lay down arms against each other and take him down instead, from then you can choose to either continue in the galactic conquest, or to miss a turn and use Hasselhoff (Dark Jedi Kit Buchanen, fully rendered with ragdol physics) as a pinyata, for many a time you man choose to NUTPUNCH the motha.

If we're going to have missions like that, can we have a mission where we exterminate the Gungans?

Ewww. Another reason not to buy it (as if I needed one!).

It's hard to make out what Captain Needa's shuttle is, but my vague impression is that it doesn't look much like a TIE fighter. I was surprised they didn't paste in a Lambda class shuttle in the special edition. That's one change I would actually have approved of!

There isn't anything in ANH to suggest that the empire used a shuttle to board Tantive IV. Since it was pulled right into the Star Destroyer, couldn't they have docked with it directly?

The TIE Boarding Craft never made it into the movies, but it was designed for ANH.

Original Concept Sketch (http://www.theforce.net/swtc/Pix/books/art/tieboard.jpg)

We never really get a clear view of the TIE Shuttle, but apperantly that is supposed to be one.

It's also not 100% clear if these 2 actually is 2 different TIE's either.

EDIT: Never mind - I just read the databank entry - so the TIE shuttle is just a TIE bomber without a bomb chute? Hmmm, that's odd. Although, in the back of my mind, I had always wondered what the weird looking TIE ship was that that captain had flown to apologize to Vader. I couldn't really see it very well, so I was never sure. We now know that it was a TIE shuttle, since the bomb chute was clearly not there

I'm not a fan of just blurting out things, but if you catch me doing it (it's unintentional in those cases mind you) please arrest me on them. ;)

Why would I arrest you?

Your as knowledgeable as I am about EU.

The TIE Shuttle wasn't used that much except for ferrying officers to and from ships and the Rebels would have propably tried taking pot shots at Lambadas since they might get lucky and kill someone important

Heh, I'm not exactly knowledgable about the EU, my point of interest is mainly the OT and everything around it (or most atleast, particulary the Empire), EU or Canon.

I couldn't care less about the Prequels, but somewhat more about the time after the OT. :)

Well yes, if imperial officers started dancing in the middle of a battle they might well get shot. ;)

Officers, heores...any unit that gives bonuses will get the enemy's attention. They'll surely take a lot of hit.
