Hi All
Here is a strategy for the Rhen Var Mission where one side has an AT-AT or an AT-TE. When you play as the Rebels DONT and I repeat DONT! stay and destroy the AT ATs you will not last long and your forces will be wiped out. Go to the Ice Caves and invade from there because the Empire can't get it's Speeders and machinery in there. Don't worry about the base, your forces can keep the empire at bay. Kill the troopers in there and capture the Ice Caves command post. Next you will come to a sort of like a dip where you can jump down or go round. Troopers will be at the bottom of the pit. Kill them with your blaster rifle and a few grenades or explosives. When you get to their base,Run out of the Ice Caves when you have a clear opening (no troopers) and KILL KILL KILL, watch out for respawning Speeders, hostile troopers and manned turrets. If you can I would recommend getting into turrets and holdig ground until you have captured the Western LZ Command post. When you have, go round and attack the AT-AT or AT-TE from the rear. It will be destroyed. By then you should be able to win from there because the Empire or the Republic will have hardly any troopers and no speeders to back the walkers up. Hunt down any remaining enemy troopers to claim victory. Note: This strategy also applies to the Confederacy. I'll be posting the strategies for the Empire and Republic if i get any interest in this walkthrough, otherwise it is a waste of my time. Thanks :atat: :atat: :atat: :atat: :atat: :atat:
If you're rebels you really don't want to go into the ice caves, they're a death trap. The empire can easily fall back to the junction and keep blowing you away with grenades and concentrated fire. It's better to stay just outside the mouth and do the same to them if they try to break out. The crucial CP is the lighthouse. Whoever can hold that should win. And it's not too difficult to take out the AT-AT cos the rebels have those speeders which do huge damage with their missiles.
Well Yes that does happen sometimes when you get to the other end of the caves but i go in there because the enemy will squander reinforcements trying to fight you in there and that will be less escorting the ATAT so your friends at the base can take out the ATAT easier so thats why I personally prefer to go into the Ice caves because it's easier than fighting an AT AT
but if your cis then no you dont because the AT-Te can be destroyed easily:D :D :D :D :
1: Combat Speeders are screwed against an AT-AT because the AT-ATs shots do MASSIVE damage. About two of those shots and the speeder is done.
2:Im more interested in the empire as you can see by looking at my sig.:)
3:The easiest way to dominate in the Ice Caves is to use more grenades then anything else(except maybe mines cuz of the small tunnels:D )
I ABSOLUTELY AGREE WITH YOU
The combat speeders are as weak a paper in a paper shredder and i always use grenades in the ice caves because they wipe out troopers with ease!!!
Well theyre not supposed to be as strong as others cuz theyre combat speeders. Speed not power.
have you ever tried surfing an at at its cool and you can snipe enemys easily
ok best way to do this mission is to be CIS. Make sure ur a droideka (destroyer droid) when going into the ice caves. If u do this u can capture 2 CP with few causlties done to u or them. then make ur way to the farthest CP.
You can try using mines against the at at it will blow it to hell
2 mines on a n ift i will blast it to hell
and mines are annoying when the enemy uses them:mad:
As the imperials I start in the ice caves as a dark trooper. Then I'll run through and either try to steal a speeder or jump to the lighthouse. I'll stay there as long as I need to, holding off the rebels. Then I'll jump to where the at at :atat: comes through and jump to the command post right across the alley. I usually die there or defending it from the rebel scum.
Sometimes I Tried Hijacking a Rebel Combat Speeder And Parked It in The Western LZ
When playing as rebels, Ill take a combat speeder and, stafing to avoud at-at shots, get around behind it and destroy it. I then park in front of the ice caves enterence and blast imps trying to get out.
As clones i be a jet trooper in the ice caves. you can usually grab an AAT before any droids do and, staying by the repair droid, shoot any droid i see.
All of you guys seem to make it hard. Here's a good strategy for the factions
CIS : Choose the Assault Droid and run as fast as you can to the Lighthouse, then capture it. Then if you have time run between there and the Fortress. Lay some mines so IFT-X's don't rock your entrance to the ice-caves. Quickly get back up and shoot at the AT-TE. The AAT's are great against it. There goes a Mobile CP and a lot of Reinforcments. So now that it's gone, take down any other IFT-X's. After that, snipe or go capture the Ice Caves. You will win after repeating this strategy.
Rebels : Choose a Sniper/Soldier/Wookiee/Vanguard and run to the Lighthouse. Repeat the strategy from CIS. The AT-AT is not stronger than the AT-TE, they are equal. The Combat Speeders aren't very strong, but can do damage to the thighs of the AT-AT. Once it's gone, choose the Wookiee and head for the Ice Caves. Grenade your way through and the game is yours.
Republic : The AT-TE is weak compared to AAT's. Spawn at the walker as a Jet and fly your way to the Light House. EMP shoot any Droideka's at the entrance of the Ice Caves. No real strategy here, just guns blasting and grenade explosions.
Empire : What an easy and pathetic level. Hop into the AT-AT as a pilot, and blow up turrets and speeders. Pilots will run to the turrets, and you get easy kills! If you don't get 80+ kills, be ashamed.
People tend to forget the mountains. You can get any vehicle up there except the mobile CPs. The At-At can't shoot that high. Easy kill. From there you can also drive to the CP on the far side of the Ice Caves and capture it. Just be sure to watch out for the hole in the map in the mountains.
Another little strategy:
If you're republic...spawn as a jet trooper and fly to the top of the cave opening. From there you can "walk" up to the top of the mountain. (It's a long and arduous process, and if you don't take the right path you can slide back down the mountain.) At the top there's a little lip you can crouch behind and rain down pistol fire into the CIS main base. And an EMP or two, of course. :blast5:
Darkies rule on this level
If you're a darkie or a jet, you can fly to the top of the.....damn, forgot what the CP is called, the main Rebel/CIS CP.......and shoot/nade down through the hole in the roof.
Just watch out for snipers in the walls behind.... :uzi2:
Speeders are excelent agianst AT-ATs, just get a gunner and get next to the AT-AT(not head on but to the right side of it). The AT-AT can't turn to you and you gunner will take care of infantry

That's where the IFTs come in. They should be defending the AT-AT so it can do its business. Unfortunately, most times my teammates will just go sailing right by so they can climb the mountains or spam the main rebel base. I'm left there with two speeders on my tail just thinking "A
www...you've) gotta be f****** kidding me!" :mad1
These are my strateges for Rhen Var: Harbor. If you have not yet noticed, the maps the Republic starts off with, are the same as the bases that the Empire starts with. Same with the Cis and the Rebels.
Clones/Empire: Start as Jet trooper at the AT-TE/AT-AT, fly to the CP Light House, capture it, wait a minute for defense then "Cross the River" to the tower with only one turret, not the entrance with a pair of stairs and one turret. ( I call that gap a river becuase when the Cis and Republic are shooting turrets and firing at each other, it seems like if you drop "into the river" you die instantly) Sneak around to the wall on your left in front of the stairs. Make sure you don't lose the CP Light House, if you do just fly back.
Cis/Rebels: Charge the Ice caves with a super battle droid and make sure you use wrist rockets while firing your wrist blaser :blaze6:. The Tri-shot works well here. For the Rebels use a soldier. Once you capture the CP Ice Caves, double back and make sure no one takes the CP's The Fortress, Light House ,and the other one next to the ice caves.
The Lighthouse really is the key to this battle. No matter which faction you play, your very first order of business should be to capture it.
As Imps - I spawn as a Heavy at the AT-AT and run to the Lighthouse. Along the way, I toss out one grenade toward the Fortress, which usually catches scum spawning from there. Once the Lighthouse is captured, I lay mines along the north stairs while blowing up their Speeders. Sometimes I switch to a regular Trooper or Sniper to protect the Caves entrance, though mines work wonders there too. Really, though, all you need to do is take and hold the Lighthouse. With only 2 CPs left, the Rebs die of attrition.
Speeder note: If you have a chance to take a Rebel Speeder, do it! Thrust directly toward the ice wall between the Citadel and the Fortress - you'll go partway up the wall, and can land on either the Citadel or Fortress and blow away thier turrets and fresh spawn. If you get grenaded too heavily, just drop down to the R5.
As Rebs - I spawn as a Vanguard at the Fortress, run to the Lighthouse (dropping mines along the way), stand next to the Gonk and fire missiles at the AT-AT. Once they lose the AT-AT, they lose reinforcements until it respawns. Again, easy win through attrition, though I can usually take the Ice Caves later in the game too.
As Seps - Stand there and twiddle your thumbs and let the Droidekas do the heavy lifting. Seriously, these things are a bit overpowered in this game. If you want to actually contribute, follow the Reb strategy - spawn as an Assault Droid, lay mines around the Lighthouse and rocket the crap out of the AT-TE. Your Droidekas will often take the Ice Caves for you while you're doing that.
As Republic - I have a horrible time dealing with Droidekas, even as a Jet, so I rarely play the Clowns. Same general idea though - hold the Lighthouse, defend the Ice Caves entrance, and let attrition work its magic.
