Once I have sorted out these forums (what a pain!) I will be uploading some game information.
The screenshots I have seen look amazing and this is really set to become the first RTS of its kind to offer ground and space battles in 3-d!
DMUK
Just a question what was actually wrong with the other ones?
Nothing wrong with Galactic Battles.com forums. With the arrival of the new game, it seems a better idea to introduce new forums. However, GB.com will become the new RTS central for the LFN Network
DMUK
so the wait for a new site is over then? :p
Patience, patience. :)
LucasArts have't even gone out with a press release on it yet as far as I've seen. ;)
In the meanwhile though, here's the cover of the Febuary issue of PC Zone UK (thanks to Pad for pointing it out ;) )
I have screenshots from PC ZONE mag, but until i get my hands on a decent scanner - they wont be any good.
However, rest assured, Empire At War is shaping up to be the BEST RTS OF ALL TIME!
Screens are amazing and by the weekend, i will have an early preview and once Lucasarts are back at work after Xmas, I will be after screens and much much more.
GB.com WILL be the BEST place for the latest news for the new game!
DMUK
DMUK - the best RTS of all time with Two sides? I think not.
C&C: two sides, yet widely regarded as a masterpiece. Same for Red Alert.
Warcraft 1 and 2: Two factions, yet widely regarded as masterpieces.
So please stop spamming every thread about there only being to sides!

do not see things in black and white:p
this is what i have been waiting for....
we will see how it looks and all one's you get thescreen up from DarthMaulUK and then we can judge the game!
Raven - i've never played Warcraft, but remember that the C&C seies is very old, so they probably couldnt put any more than two civs in. Also, i'm not spamming every thread, i've only posted in this one.
They already had 3 factions in Dune 2, but then just made two for C&C.
If a game ha only two factions, but they are really differentiated and balanced, then I'd take that every day over several much too similar races!
I dont care how many sides there are. Only as long if the game is good or not. :p
Cant wait for the screenies.
Well, Rebellion onlyhad two civ's (Empire and Rebels) and it was a well balanced game and lots of fun to play. It was easily customized and it replayability was excellent. I still play it and its an old game. This smacks of a great game. I think alot of people here are just upset because much of their speculations were incorrect, but hey, that's ok folks. Just because we were all basically creating a GB 2 and PetroG has gone on and made a brand new game doesn't mean that it will be bad.
I am glad that they are creating something different. I think that it is about time that LA has its hands on a new engine and not something that they borrowed from somewhere else. It will be great when other games will have on the box "made from the Empire at War RTS engine" on it.

That is correct ;)
You mean the one we never see much of any more? :D
What was her name again. :p
The little I've heard of this game, this is how I see it:
In one hand: Rebellion
In the other: Galactic Battlegrounds
Now put your hands together. :D
I can't wait for some game info and screenshots. Hopefully this will be the Star Wars RTS we've all been waiting for.
Yeah, time for some of you brits to grab a copy and get the scanners running :)

From what I'm reading I would agree, with a little bit more of a reflection on Rebellion. Rebellion rocked!!
I can't wait for the space battles. A full on strategy based space conflict will be great.
Lets see some screens, theirs gatta be one person with the mag and a scanner out there.
What mag is it in cause I live in the uk and I'll buy it and post screens.

it says feb 2005 so i think its going to be next month bevore it comes :p
Nope, people already got it. That is after all how we came to know any detailsm about it.
This is already looking like a very ambitious game. afaik no-one has tried to combine space and ground battles in this way before. I think if they tried to add more than 2 civs it would get overambitious and there would be less chance of it being good.
Imperium Galactica II had this type of game play, where it combined space battles with ground battles, but that one also had micro-managing of planets so the population could grow and thrive, building up your ground forces and spacefleet, develop new technology, weapons, and military hardware (aswell as civilian advances).
I always hoped Rebellion would become sorta like that one, but allas it didn't reach that high. None the less, Rebellion was a fun game which I spent many, many hours on. :)
here for the ppl ho can read realy small letters ;)

and can't anyone yust post some vage pictures of the ingame?
Yeah, I can't believe this. Usually it takes like 10 min after a mag is out for scans to hit the web!
yes and this is a week later and stil nothing
Well, I've looked thru many stores that sell PC mags, but I can't seem to find it.
It might come out tomorrow here though, that's when Narvesen (which holds alot of different mags from all over the world here in Norway) get's their mags (usually) where I live.
*crosses fingers*
to bad thay wont sell Pczone in my country, but it will be posted somwere on the web anyway.
Yah, but I am not known for my patience ;)
Take it easy dudes, the game is sure going to be good.

well if you look at BFME im not so sure...a online game sould never last more then 3 hours , BFME can be endless.
if you look at just the technical part its realy a medium game, and not perfectly ballanced either.
i hope those guys will realy make empire at war a great game but to say that this game will be good for sure... i have my doubts about that.
but anyway...i'ts starwars :D
* can't wait anymore going realy wild now smackin whit PIE's! all around the house O_o *
Lol, somebody is gonna be real happy when cleaning that mess up ;)
If those are ingame pictures I think we have the best graphic game to hit the shelves ever. To bad no video card should be able to run that game
