Welcome to the RC.net forums

These rules are here to help you out while you are staying at these forums. They are used on all sections of RC.net so getting used to them is a thing you must do. If you have any question about any of these rules or maybe one thats not posted, feel free to PM the RC.net mod staff. We will be happy to help you out. ;)

The Rules

1. Donґt flame other members
There are lot of people visiting these forums and your way of thinking can be different from someone else but that doesnt give you the right to flame/insult them.

2. Donґt spam
.1 Spam are posts that have nothing to do with the topic or are one sentence posts like "I agree",... Bare in mind that a topic often doesnt stay 100% on topic and that we are aware of that. In most sections this rule has to followed very closely, however, in Absent without a leave, the off-topic section a little more freedom is served. Note, it clearly states off-topic and not NO-topic.

.2 Also chatting with other users, like having a private conversation amongst eachother, is considered as spam. Use the Private Message feature for such things.

.3 The RC.net Staff reserves the right to delete or close spammy posts and threads at their discretion.

3. Posting threads
.1 Before you go posting a new thread have a good look if a similar isnt already existing. There is a search option to be even more sure of that.
Also dont create a thread similar as one that was closed. It doesnt make you look that good. Same goes for bumping very old threads.

.2 Try to make a good thread with a clear title so everyone will have a good insight on what your topic will be about. Also when posting try to use a good understandable language. We know we arenґt all from an English country. Hell, Iґm not not even from one but trying just might give you that extra credit towards others.

.3 You are responsible for your own posts. In the rare event that we receive a complaint/legal action from something you've posted, we reserve the right to forfeit any information we know about you, including your identity, IP address, etc.

.4 Do not, and I repeat DO NOT, post any threads dealing with illegal or disturbing matters. This means pornography, discussion about downloading or copying software,... is strictly prohibited.

.5 Keep in mind that a thread needs to be created in the right section.
Reporting for Duty is the place for all discussion and news about RC, while Absent Without Leave is the place for a more freely off-topic conversation.

Design Schematics is the place to go for everything that has to with modding, editing,... the game. Squad Recruitment will be open for all clan discussion while tactics, walktroughs, strategy,... go in the Tactical Operations.

Last but not least, for all your questions, feedback,... about the site or forum you are welcomed in the Debriefing Station where we again will be happy to help you out in any way we can.

4. Use the spoiler tag
A spoiler isnt the info about the game published on the official website, its more or less everything concerning the storyline or game ending.

Also since Republic Command is INTIMATELY linked with the prequel films, specifically Episode III, this means that spoilers in the game are also spoilers for the movie.

Keep in mind the game will be out BEFORE anyone has a chance to see the movie, and many of us want to remain spoiler free for Episode III.

If you are to create a thread with (a) spoiler(s) follow these guidelines:
- Put *spoiler* in your thread title
- Dont put the actual spoiler in the thread title
- Use the spoiler tag (important) in the thread

How to use a spoiler tag?
Just put the text that are spoilers between this code Put your text here
It can then be seen when you highlight the area with the mouse.
Put your text here

Penalties

.1 Penalties for spamming, cussing, and flaming:
First, the person will receive a public warning in the thread in which the offense occurred.
If the person does not comply, he/she will be given a final warning via private message.
If the person keeps flaming/cussing/spamming, he/she will be banned.
Spamming may also result in the reduction of the user's post count(to 0).

.2 Penalties concerning illegal/disturbing activities:
If the person posted links to, or discusses ROM sites and/or warez/kazaa sites, the post will be edited and the person will be warned. If the person does it again, it's a temporary ban. Best advice is to not talk about it at all here.

If it's about posting pornography, the user will be banned without warning. We have a zero tolerance policy about anything that deals with porn in any way. Best advice: Take it somewhere else.

.3 Penalties for registering another account under the same IP:
The person be warned, and the extra account(s) will be immediately deleted. If the person recidivates, his/her IP will be banned from the community.

Additional guidelines

If you don't have interest in a certain thread, move along to another one you do like. There is no need to waste your time by posting in them just to post.

If you witness someone breaking these rules, please help us mods out and use the 'report post to moderator' link. Now this isn't for just saying hi or whatever. It is to be used to report those breaking our rules ONLY.

The RC.net staff doesnґt like to be harassed, hassled, cajoled, or threatened. In addition...don't ask to be a moderator.

Please keep in mind these rules are not here to make us look big, they are here to make this place an enjoyable environment which brings us to the most important rule: "Have fun while youґre here but dont be stupid."

These rules are approved by the RC.net staff and based on the rules provided by the Starwarsknights, Battlefront, Jedi Knight and StarwarsGalaxies community. In addition altered by Pad to be used on the RC.net forums.

This has been posted in the star wars section and since Republic commando will have some epIII in it, these spoiler-rules apply here aswell.

I just have to post a reminder here since some people don't seem to understand...

If you KNOW what happens in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, you have a few choices on LucasForums:

1) Keep it to yourself until the movie has been out for awhile and it has become general knowledge.

1) Discuss it in PM's or private chat or email or some other forum with others who wish to discuss it.

2) Post about it in the "Episode III Spoilers Allowed" forum.

3) Use the "spoiler" tag in front of each portion of spoilers (as you see me doing) to make it so that only those who wish to read it will see it by highlighting their mouse over the area in question, put "SPOILER" type warnings in front of links, and use links only (rather than direct images) when posting spoiler images.

If you can't do this then, KEEP IT TO YOURSELF until the movie has been out for awhile and the info becomes common knowledge.

Not every SW fan is desperate to learn every detail about this movie before it's even out in theaters. While these details may seem trivial to you, so many fans are trying to spew them out, and combined, this info ruins quite a bit of the actual movie for many folks. It's like reading the last page of a murder mystery out loud to somebody who's waiting in line to buy the book and who actually WANTS to be surprised. It's just plain rude.

But we KNOW that some people like to discuss spy reports and spoilers (including ones leaked on sites like TFN and StarWars.com). So that's why we have the tags and indeed and entire forum for it, as a courtesy to both parties ("spoiler" and "non-spoiler").

So be smart, don't make us have to start banning people for ignoring these warnings. If you don't know how to use the Spoiler tag LEARN. NOW.

Speculation is fine, but if you know what happens or THINK you know what happens, use the tag. When in doubt, use it.

Do I sound cranky? I am a bit. I've already had a bit of the movie spoiled for me by accident, and I wish to avoid more spoilage. I'm thus sympathetic on behalf of the people wishing to avoid spoilers, and that's why I'm making "such a fuss" about this. So be smart and discreet about this for the sake of others, that's all I ask.

Posting info from the OFFICIALLY RELEASED Trailers (once they become available from StarWars.com, NOT just to Hyperspace memberse) is permissable, though before the film comes out a bit of warning is a good idea (Ie: warnings in the thread title, such as "trailer spoilers"). We'll be much more lenient on trailer stuff.

Once the movie comes closer to release (May 2005) and finally comes out there will be TV spots and tv commercials, these will then become fair game to post about (though, as with the trailer, a simple warning in the thread title or before hand and use of appropriate links is desirable).

However, I realize that SW.com and TheForce.net have various "spy reports" and other type material that many people who visit those sites read (but not everyone of course). Just because material appears on those sites doesn't give you the go ahead to post it without the spoiler tag or warnings here. The same rules apply.

If it isn't in one of the officially released trailers, consider it a SPOILER until the movie has been out in theaters for awhile (I'm talking weeks here, not mere days).

Other items that contain Episode III Spoilers will also be considered in this (deemed worthy of warnings and tags or being confined to the appropriate Spoiler forums):

-Episode III video game spoilers

-Republic Commando game spoilers (minor spoilers and spoilers not related to Episode III itself will be allowed to the appropriate forums for the game, with tags when its about the storyline of the game, just as with any other game)

-Episode III related novel/comic book/tech manual/RPG spoilers

-Episode III related info from action figure series's
-Clone Wars animated series Season 3 (and the ending of Season 2)

Avatars/Sigs:

One final note: You may use Episode III material in your avatar/signatures. HOWEVER if you wish to avoid getting into trouble, you'll only include material that has already been revealed in the official trailers. That is, if you want to use a shot of some character, make sure that shot is featured in the trailer, and not from some hyperspace content or spy report. That is, unless you wish to ONLY post in the Spoiler forum. Because any posts you make in other forums or past posts will show your avatar/sig. If you want to put a spoiler in your signature, don't use an image, but rather use a link (with warning included).

[b]People who violate the spoiler rules can expect to have their posts edited or possibly deleted. They may even warrant a temp ban for flagrant or repeated violations if and when the mods deem necessary.

If you have a question or problem with an issue relating to this, please take it up PRIVATELY with an Admin such as myself and we'll discuss it.

Just an update, just in case anybody didn't know already, as Episode III has been out for several months now on DVD, we don't require the use of spoiler tags when discussing ROTS related content in this game (or otherwise).
