So, what if the afterlife is like Grim Fandango?

Well, what would your attitude be if when you died, you really did go to The Land of the Dead, ala Grim Fandango?

First I'd be like "Yay! This rocks!", but then I'd realise that I've lost all of my hair. :( Visiting Rubacava would be neat, though.

Hey, I'd be hopping straight on that Number Nine train and head on my four minute journey to the land of eternal rest!

*cough*Then the train will jump its tracks and I'll end up in the pits of Hell...*cough*

But enough about that! I'd like to start my own business in casinos and gambling so I can rake in the cash (What do the dead pay with in coinage anyway? Pesos? Euros? Regular gold coins?)

I would like to work in the DOD as a reaper. I know, that's crazy, but when I think about Grim Fandango I can't forget about El Marrow and building of DOD. Working in there equal spending nice time. Yeah, I'm mad.

I would start a new "life" despite what travel package I receive. I would stay in El MArrow and live the big city life or become a poet at the Blue Casket and discuss revolution with my fellow beatniks.

That would be great, at least i'd be able to qualify for a cruise, although I don't really like the ocean, and the sea of lament is blimmin' huge! I'd probably live in Rubacava, being by the sea is ok! That would be so cool, i'd lose all my hair though :(

But then again, at least i'd be going somewhere, and id get to see how cool i look as a skeleton, which reminds me, Manny has a really big head, i wonder what he looked like when he was alive

Get real people, you're dead, what do you want when you're dead? Well you sure wouldn't want to go and travel instantly, you would be sad, man, all the people you loved and hated are far, far away now. So you will need some cheerin' up and that clown with the baloon animals wouldn't get the job done right, so I would start a career in music, man, f**king metal! You would need some heavy guitar riffs and some serious headbanging, not those weird and lonely violins and banjos or whatever they are.
Hmm...biteing the heads off dead pidgeons...sounds heavy.

I would only like it if I got the 4 min train ride to the end of the afterlife. If I got the crappy walking cane with the compass, I wouldn't be pleased to take an adventure which could lead to a four year journey. It would be pretty cool, after a while. You would have to get over your family, friends and everyhting else you had when you were living.

I know what I'd be doing if that were real, I'd be bad and get a walking cane, then I'd have to work of my time in the DOD, then have my "partner" tell my driver that he could have the rest of the day off and get the mechanic in the basement drive me by hacking into don's computer while he goes fishing. etc.

but really i would want a walking stick, i'd rather walk the whole way and see everything then be in a bus, so i would visit around El Marrow, maybe find someone from the LSA t oget me in and that would be heaven for me.

True, but how do you paint hair that reaches your arm pits? And it's not the same because it can't flow in the wind, get stuck to your eyes or fall into your soup... hey, perhaps it wouldn't be that bad after all. ;)

I've had near death experiences and it was not funny. (if you want to ask me what it was go right ahead)

I would only go out at night into the forests staying near the weird things in there.
of couse it's only four years but if my time came to go on that train I wouldn't i'd stay behide I mean come on who wants to end it all now.

If the afterlife was like Grim Fandango I think I'd probably land one of those semi-decent tickets to get to the after after life and start my journey. Meet some family members that haven't moved on, and such.

Knowing me though, I'd probably go screw it and do whatever the hell I feel like.

Yeah, when I first played the game i thought Manny's job was actually quite appealing, well apart from the corruption that is.

Being a rebel sounded more fun to me. Being a reaper is too much like being a person who calls you late at night telling you about the latest sales on couches.

If we all ended up in the Land of the Dead, and had to work off debts we'd accumulated in life, then I'd have no problem with that at all. Although I guess it kind of depends what the Ninth Underworld is like (and for that matter, the alternative...)

However, did you guys ever think how big the Land of the Dead would have to be? I mean, what we see in Grim Fandango itself is diverse enough in terms of locale and culture, but surely the entire thing would prove to be... well, just like life once you got used to it!

Apart from the obvious aesthetic differences (bones, demons, etc.), I'd just hope that Death has a similar soundtrack, and that we all end up with a quick wit and Spanish accent =D

Screw the four-year-transition! Like Domino said on year 3, I'd find the way to "...make the land of the dead livable!" I'd just probably stay in Rubacava and be like Maximino (or Nick Virago without his crappy death, lol).

I'd be delighted if the afterlife were like in GF, up until I realized I never buried any money with myself. I'd probably only be eligible for the Excelsior Line, but I'd make the most of it. I'd set up some kind of arcade for the dead.

Also, as far as what money they use, seeing as it's based on a mexican afterlife I'd imagine they convert all money to pesos.

dingodango, since you weren't very descriptive with the error, nor did you post this question in Glottis's (or Glottis') Garage, I'm just going to send you to this thread,

http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=171217)

read and do what it says. If you're still having a problem, or the problem has changed, feel free to start your own thread in Glottis's Garage. And please to stop posting in random forums, believe me we gf people read all of them all the time, especially Glottis's Garage, so if you've got a problem we will get back to you (if of course we think we can solve it).

And in an attempt to steer this thread back on topic, has any one seriously considered becoming a travel agent as a career choice? Wait, no that probably won't work...um, what job would you want if you were in the gf like land of the dead (besides being a travel agent!)?
