Well, as I said above, the Dark Troopers (abbrev. DT) only appeared in Dark Forces (abbrev. DF).
Any others are just modified Stormtroopers. point.
Unless i'm wrong :D

No, I assure you, it isn't the Jetpack Trooper from Academy. That is a Dark Trooper. Heck, it even says Dark Trooper, and looks just like one save for the fact they got the color wrong and the fact it doesn't use its assault cannon. But I digress!

Anyway, yes, that is a Dark Trooper. I would if I were you probably use the color scheme from Dark Forces and use the model as a reference. But that's just me.

You should have Hapslash do the Dark Trooper. He'll get it right. :)

Sorry Fracman, but you are wrong :p I have Galactic Battlegrounds (the RTS using the AOE2 engine) and one of the Imperial special units is a Phase 2 Dark Trooper. Unfortunately it only has a blaster, not a plasma cannon :( I guess the developers didn't do their research...

Heh... convinced, it looks like a Dark Trooper, except it is still kinda Stormie-white and not dark gray brown like in DF.

I kinda like the 'stormie' white, but whatever. I can just change it eventually. And for the record, you should go with the GB version as a reference. I believe Corto is working on the DTs, yes?

I don't like the "stormy" white too, they are DARKtrooper! This dark-gray fits them very good.

Well, for the record, Corto is using Justin Chins original artwork and the DF sprites as reference.

Hey there...

Actually I wanted to ask for permission to edit the stormtrooper model included in the DF Demo and make a Sand Trooper out of it.

But now that I know that HapSlash is working on a Sandtrooper I gues that won't be necessary anymore :>

btw: Great Work!

After the destruction of the Arc Hammer, the DarkTrooper project was largely scrapped. But the R&D was still there, and as you can see, there were further uses of DarkTrooper-like technology. To quote Kyle Katarn "Black Armor?! Not again!" The Darktroopers were just a bit ahead of their time, too expensive for massive deployment, and when controlled by the droid brain they could be outsmarted by particularly reasourceful beings. Hence, we see Dark Trooper-like technology in other parts of the Star Wars world.

Seriously though, the troopers in JA were harder than the Jedi IMO. Those Conc Rifles could fry you fast, requiring actual forethough and care, wheras the dark jedi were simple saberplay. So maybe the empire WAS onto something.

I recommend you guys play DF if you havent already, although its graphics are not the best and u may not have sound, nothing is gonna set a better example than the actual DT from the original DF....after all isnt this mod supposed to recreate that classic?

Well I own Dark Forces and the head of the Phase 1 Model from this Mod isn't actually after the sprite (The sprite has some visor like eyes, the head is long and the face is very flat). It's made after concept art, but it looks damn good! So I don't think its very bad if the Phase 2 is a little altered. As long you recognize it as an Dark Trooper, it's okay.

Speaking of the Darktroopers (the thread is about the new Stormtrooper people! :p), are you (and by 'you I guess I mean Corto) going to make them that flat, ugly grey. I noticed the last custom figure posted was much darker than most of the sprites I've seen. Maybe you (there's that 'you' again :)) could make the DT a little towards the black (as in the color) side, just not completely. Not only because it's called a 'Dark' trooper (not an 'Insufficientlylighted' trooper), and because it makes more sense for Kyle to remember the "Black armor (not again!"). That or bone white, like in GB.

BTW, I am aware that my post has an excessive amount of parentheses (spelling?). I'm having a great day! :D

Make it two-tone, dark grey/brown and very dark grey...use the dark grey/brown as highlights and put the imperial crest on in the same colour.

EDIT: Please, please check your post after you have submitted your message. I just had to delete two messages here, because of your TRIPLE post!
